I’m curious what people’s experiences have been in person (as opposed to online) with such individuals and whether such labelling is appropriate.

I have had discussions with who people doubt it, think its a mass conspiracy and change their views once they have had it or know someone who's had it. I have had debates with people who think there is some chip being implanted or that it's a Western conspiracy against ethnic minorities. Sometimes I was so bamboozled I genuinely didn't know how to respond.
I think the labelling isn’t completely appropriate. Not all the people (like the thread I made on those brown girls who went to a crowded party) are idiots. A lot of people who disregard covid and still do what they like are simply malicious and selfish. They realize that because of their age or whatever, they can risk getting the virus, but they have no sense of responsibility to others which is why this virus isn’t a big deal for them.
Try five why’s technique.
Rather than telling them, I question why they believe what they believe.
For many this process allows them to see the flaws in their own argument.
Calling people covidiots will help nothing, if you want to educate people calling them names will only make them take a defensive approach.
Speaking openly with respect will go a long way when discussing issues you have differences.

There are far too many selfish and stupid idiots around. Desis lead the way but its a problem for all communities. I cant be bothered to argue or debate with these ******.
