What's new

Is there a bigger FTB/HTB than Cheteshwar Pujara?

Good news for Indian Fans.Hope he continues to play big innings like this and not 20s-30s after facing 100 balls.

Is that a clue in that innings as to how he should bat from now on ??? That was a very aggressive innings it seems.

Pujara has the ability to score extremely quickly when conditions flatten, wears out the early swing and gets his eye in. Perfect example of this was his hundred in SA in 2013 tour. He scored his next 140 runs in 170 balls. He's always had the ability to score quickly once he gets in. Unfortunately, in the last year or so, he's been frustrating because he gets out just when he looks like he is set.

I had high hopes for Pujara after the South Africa series look like he was just riding his luck in that series and that is all he is another FTB

Where is Pujara? is he injured or what? I know he wasn't performing but why he can't get into this weak batting lineup while Rohit and Rahul are there? I expect Pujara to do better than them

When this FTB is the supposed 'answer', you know Indian future is very very weak. Then you have the likes of Sanju Samson who can't score a single run to save his life, and resorts to spitting at opposition players.. it looks very sad.

Few years ago, India were NO.1 in the world and PAK were struggling yet I had belief this wouldn't last. Now we are on top.

Indian future looks terrible.

lol a bit bleak there.

india will be fine. they (or for that matter pakistan or sl) have never been powerhouses in cricket except for a very few minor periods where they competed with the best.

One of the best players of spin bowling going around today. Slightly better than Rahane at this.

So the "HTB" and "FTB" has 2 centuries away now in testing conditions.

Glad he's proving his haters wrong who were latching onto his poor run of form to write him off as an FTB/HTB.

One of the best knocks in testing conditions when everyone else fell apart.

Off stump Kohli wishes he could play a knock like this. Pretty much fails every time the conditions get testing.

Yeah both great knocks but conditions weren't as testing.

Conditions weren't testing on Johannesburg? No other Indian batsman passed 45 or something like that and South Africa got out for below 250 too. Probably as testing as the conditions this match.

I watched the game. They weren't as testing.

Pujara got run out then scored 150 in the 2nd innings. His defense was solid even in the 1st.

Credit to him, he is gutsing it out. GOAT candidate in Asian pitches and slowly correcting his numbers in SENA. Hope team management stops nagging him in the near future, much bigger problems in our batting line up.

He has improved his stock in the last couple of tours...

But all that talk of him being the next Dravid was always a joke.

But he can become a superior version of Mahela Jayawardene in this format which is brilliant for us. He can be our YK !!!!

A country-wise breakdown for Pujara's number in test cricket is as follows: -

India:- 62
Australia: - 44
Sri Lanka: - 90
South Africa: - 32
England: - 29
New Zealand: - 15
West Indies: - 30

To his credit, he has got two hundreds in Australia, 1 in South Africa and 1 in England. He has hit 3 hundreds in Sri Lanka and 10 hundreds are at home.
