Is there a feeling amongst India supporters that the India Women have avenged CT17 defeat?

No comparison between both sets of teams but reading social Media it would seem to be the case!

:))

Clutching at straws if that's the case.

No offense but women's cricket really isn't very good or enjoyable either.

Haven't followed this World Cup at all and so would be quite silly to suddenly become a fan of women's cricket. However I did drop by here just to see what the general opinion on this win was :)

All that said, given the kind of threads that have popped up in the past when Pakistan have looked like beating India in non-men's cricket tournaments, I think it's fair enough if Indians have fun at the expense of their neighbours.

A victory is a victory and should be celebrated.

Is it an equivalent victory though? No.

The men's team defeat to the West Indies looks to have spoiled the party.

Maa maa hoti hai.

Seriously though, very few people care about women's cricket. I am more surprised there are no threads on MS Dhoni's second slowest fifty in Indian ODI history against modern day minnows, WI.

Lol ,no but defn the Indian cricket men's team are getting the stick after not only losing to PCT but also to Windies yesterday.

Happy for the women though, have a very good chance to,make it to semis!

Women's Cricket is certainly getting more attention than ever in history before and that's the only good thing about it.

Nothing has been avenged though.

Not to sound sexist in any way........... but I don't give a monkeys about the women's game. Good luck to the women and I hope they do well and that women cricket succeeds. As far as i am concerned, it is a different sport. It is not for me.

If they want to compare this to the men's game - they simply have to look at te viewing figures.

Men's final : half a billion. 300 million in India alone.

Women's match : 2 million at most.

Not in the least, at least with me. The Champions Trophy Final loss is the most shambolic performance I've seen in a major tournament final in a long long time. It almost felt like India couldn't have chased Pakistan's target even if given 2 innings, such was the timidness with which India surrendered that day. The only thing that can make up for such a terrible performance is an equally dominating win in a knockout World Cup/Champions Trophy match, nothing else.

The manner of the defeat in the CT final was just incredible.

I don't think a women's team winning is hardly revenge.

Indian women can beat our girls 10 more times, and it still won't match the phainta we dished out to the parosis on June 18th. :))

Absolutely not. This wound won't ever heal, irrespective of whether we defeat Pakistan in every match in every format in the future, just saying.

I doubt. Much less, I believe.

Most don't even know that WWC is going on.

So Indian fans do not feel avenged by their women defeating Pak women.

The thrashings that have been given to our women cricket team, I feel the results were expected.

We have been thrashed everywhere besides the Champions Trophy Final in hockey and in women's cricket, and that says alot about our systems in place for sports and how far we are behind India in terms of it..

I feel these performances are a wake up call to us, we need to invest in all these systems and our own men's cricket team, we are far from a finished product

Hope India women’s team do what we couldn’t at the ICC Champions Trophy, says batting coach Sanjay B

India batting coach Sanjay Bangar hoped that Indian women cricketers bring back home the ICC World Cup 2017 after India lost a chance to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 a few weeks back.

In a video posted by the Board Of Control For Cricket In India on their official Twitter account, Bangar congratulated India’s women cricket team after their third successive win in the ongoing tournament. India women beat Pakistan women on Sunday by 95 runs despite posting a modest 169 runs in the first innings.

Lauding the bowling skills of the Indian side, Bangar said, “Want to congratulate our Indian women team as they have won three consecutive matches today. They only had 169 runs to defend but they bowled really well.”

“I have been following their performance closely. We have won three matches but it is a long tournament. I hope they follow their tempo.”

He ended the video hoping that the Indian women team win the World Cup by delivering what they couldn’t at the Champions Trophy.

Indian women have played Pakistan nine times in the past in ODI format and hold a clean sheet against their arch-rivals. This was their tenth victory against the neighbours.

Mohammad Kaif, Kapil Dev and Gautam Gambhir also congratulated the women team on their winning run in the ongoing tournament.

I agree, Pakistan has 2 ways to go from here. Take this win as a blessing (in disguise - sorry had to do it) and let Arthur implement his ideas and promote more youngsters, hire some good coaching staff in domestic levels, foreign with locals as assistant coach.

or just bask in glory with this win till 2019 debacle happens.

only few, very few care about women's cricket. and I'm not one of them. I guarantee most of us don't know even a single players name of our team, or any team.

There is nothing sexist with finding the women's game boring. Just like women's soccer, it is an inferior version of the same sport.

Women's cricket needs some rule changes to differentiate itself from its male counterpart. I strongly believe that the overs should be reduced to 40 and each team should get two innings of 20 overs each.

Either that or a couple of women have to capture the imagination of the world, in the same way that Ronda Rousey did in the UFC, albeit briefly.

Yes having already exceeded expectations our people think we are back on the top of world cricket, this win was against the run of recent form and if if appropriate steps are taken, could help our cricket in the long run, or it could damage our cricket with players basking on previous glory...

Don't think our fans realize now there will be a team plan before anything is implemented against Pakistan, a strategy will be built, weak points of Fakhar Zaman, Shadab and Hasan ali will already be included in the plans, how to counter Amir etc... we will need to groom these players properly otherwise 2019 world cup will be another same old story

Harbhajan Singh: We are proud of our girls, lekin mujhe nahi lagta ke revenge ki baat honi chahiye

Our women in blue are doing us proud in England at the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup 2017. Riding high on confidence, their three back-to-back wins in the series have raised our expectations and hopes of bringing the trophy back home. While the nation is rooting for the team and applauding its daring skipper Mithali Raj, ace spinner Harbhajan Singh is no exception. After India's massive victory over Pakistan on Sunday, Bhajji shared his thoughts with us, on our dashing women squad. "I want to wish them all the luck, going forward. They have won three out of three games and I want them to continue with their great work. Hopefully they will bring the cup back to India. That will be a very very proud moment for all of us."

The cricketer, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, also stressed on how games should be looked at purely as games, instead of portraying them as rivalry or revenge. Many perceived India's win on Sunday as a revenge of sorts for Kohli and his team's loss in the Champions Trophy Final against Pakistan.

One of the tweets read, "Revenge is best when served by Indian women's team! Well played girls, you have made us proud #INDVSPAK." Bhajji said, "It's great that we won and we are proud of our girls, lekin mujhe nahi lagta ke revenge ki baat honi chahiye . This win has nothing to do with revenge whatsoever. The other day (Champions Trophy final) Pakistan played well and they won. On Sunday, our team played well and we won. Game ko game hi rehne doh. Let's not get into revenge and other issues."

If they won

We would have put oil on the burning blaze that just started to cool down

You can't say that,Women cricket is important as well if you arnt interested then just say

But no need to say oh women's cricket is boring

Congrats to Indian fans and all of India on this great achievement. First the hockey win and now this, you guys have truly avenged the loss in the CT final. I am sure you guys will take hundred of defeats in men cricket if it meant more wins in Hockey and Women Cricket.

Only tennis and Olympics are the two tournaments where there is some interest in ladies games

After seeing the replies on the thread feel the Indian women are not getting any credit inspite of beating England and Pakistan just because the Men lost to PCT,sad but expected.

Looks like converse true

Women's cricket is boring. Blind cricket is even further boring.

Nothing wrong in saying that. It is not sexist. No one is saying cricket is only a male sport and women aren't supposed to play.

Liking or disliking something is just an opinion, you are not imposing it on anyone nor are you infringing anyone's right to play.

The current generation need to stop making a fuss about everything and link it equality and such bs.

That is because there is not much following. I bet many Indians don't even realise the day India lost final to PCT. Kidambi won the Indonesia Open.

Hockey win was well circulated because we thrashed Pak so you know it was to just clutching at straws to forget the embarrassing defeat otherwise it was just a qualifier game.

Very true ,Kidambi has done very well sad that it doesn't matter he won back to back titles but we were interested in hockey results where India lost to Malaysia and Canada

For a change, I agree with Harbhajan Singh (who otherwise is mostly an inarticulate buffoon -- not to be taken seriously). I don't believe in the concept of revenge in sport, so don't see it as a revenge at all. Also Pak girls team is truly a minnow (possibly the weakest in the world?) and has never ever beaten India before. Looking at the way they play, I doubt that's likely to change any time soon.

I follow Badminton quite closely and watch the games live whenever possible. The fact that there is a free YouTube channel for it helps! :)

Agree our badminton stars don't get the credit they deserve. They've been well and truly challenging the Chinese domination in this game.
