Its good to see cricket finally coming home in a slight proper manner. Normally I would have never worried about the security aspect as Pak Army usually does a good job protecting relevant people. But there days, political situation is a mess. But thats the smaller thing to worry about. On global level, USA including CIA is starting to rub their hands against us (Thanks to Trump). Its an undeniable fact that India's friendship with US is strengthened due to Pakistn favoring CPEC so their agencies might want to create as much hurdles as they can for Pakistan to prosper both economically and morally. God forbid sports can be their first item on the hitlist. Are Pakistan's intelligence groups and army capable to defend the return of cricket or we have dipped our hands bit too much as CIA's penetration and attacks can be tricky to defend unlike RAW's. Dont want anything bad to happen in these particular times or else cricket of Pakistan will be gone for decades.

We have conducted psl twice with no issues and if we're waiting for a perfect utopia to happen, then its never going to happen. We have to start somewhere an now is the time. If we're going to further prolong for another decade then the upcoming generation would not care and cricket will go the same route hockey is going, which is oblivion.

No. And I am one of the biggest supporters of cricket being brought back to our country. But the political instability in our country is absolutely insane right now.

regardless. We should have enough security to despel any threats

Pakistan's main play isnt to prove that Pakistan is some ideal safe location where rabbits are running across the street and rivers of honey flowing

The play is to prove that we can provide Presidential level security without fail

I think with all the attention which would be given if a top international team visits the security would be totally unbreachable.. So risks of any attack on players or in stadium is very very low.. However god forbid if something happens it will be the final nail in coffin for cricket in Pakistan atleast for our lifetime..

No, Lahore has been hit many times in the recent months. This same provincial govt was also present when Sri Lanka were provided crap security. Sethi is egoistic and hardly cares. This is not a sustainable step tbh. First, Pakistan needs to weed out all militants and have peaceful 2,3 years before calling international players.

We have NOT conducted PSL within the boundaries of Pakistan. I know that we're never going to be perfect security-wise, but its about questioning the ability of securing the cities pre/during/post-games from bigger enemies now.

True, both political and strategic is against us for now. We have been CIA's good boys since 60s and this is for the first time that US is officially taking us into their bad books.

We did same with Zim series but we were unable to stop India from attacking, even for a small series for 3 games. Now we'll have jump with bigger profiles against worse enemies.

Zimbabwe series, remember that suicide blast? The extended version of that is what I fear. Wont be that easy for enemies to do it though as the whole country's focus will be on conducting games then.

True, but I don't think that militants can be trimmed by Pakistanis as every country got their own set of toys.

The players will be safer than in any other country.

The problem is all it takes is some attack nearby which will scare them and makes things difficult for the future. Yes OP is correct you cannot trust the CIA and Indians not to deliberately attack at the time of this series.

Its a very thin line between doing it around the players and doing it very close to the players. Anything close can be deadly for Pakistan's image. While RAW's unable to penetrate in our ranks, CIA do got that ability. It wont be that easy.

If you think that you can go to qadaffi stadium with your childern to watch the match....then it's safe..otherwise not.

I am spectacularly failing to understand the point of view of the original poster to be honest. In your thread title you have asked a question (right ?) and then conveniently explained in the subsequent post on why it's a bad idea since CIA and RAW are against us?

I mean don't get me wrong, I am not having a go here however I would like to know whether you want to know if it's a sustainable event in terms of security or are you giving an opinion on how other influential global bodies (motivated by geopolitical markers) would want to harm this event ~ I would love a precise selection here please.

Normally, and this is coming from my layman understanding of how an international event security might work, an assessment of a secure venue would most probably be based on the potential of threat, SOP (standard operation procedures) for the security provided, any loopholes in the said SOP and the probability of an attack on the individuals that are scheduled to partake in the event. I believe if all these check boxes tick then a format report is sent to the invited part and the details of the tours are confirmed. In the case of the World XI I think the ICC appointed an independent UK security that did all these assessments and provided the green light and only after that did the tour dates and everything else that we're seeing successfully materialize.

I understand where you're coming from when you claim that external sources might want to sabotage the event but I can assure you there are much much more damaging avenues (structurally and economically) in Pakistan where the effects would be almost ten folds than disrupting a cricket match in the country.

You really think everything bad that happens in Pakistan is because CIA and/or RAW?

Do realize that infiltration works above such procedures. Who knows the guys you're putting up for security ends up being the attackers. That is what CIA is good at.

You have to try.

Yes, normally I would have said yes. But in this period of year or two? There are soo many people against us. I really pray that this try goes on safely.

Most of them. Those terrorists are nothing but rent-an-attacker being used by other entities.

The whole world has changed, security is a major issue all over, we have to live in new reality and has to spend more money and resources on security. Show must go on. Pakistan is not safe but safer, as many other countries like India, BD, SL and England. Only NZL, Australia, SA and West Indies are "safe".
