Ishant Sharma: "I want to bowl at 100MPH"

Standing ovation at the SCG for Sharma after he reaches his hundred. The lad bowled like fire, well done. :))):))):)))

ffs, he took a wicket and there's no congrats thread. PP can be so biased at times.

Congrats Ishant for getting punter out again!

Monster bowler :)))

dear oh dear if their was one place the indians hyped him up as unplayable is on Australian tracks, Warner and Co ran riots around him.

This guy wouldn't even get in most international A teams let alone play test cricket.

lol, have you guys seen the ESPN Star promo where they show Ishant when he got Punter's wicket on the last Oz tour?

Ek aur over daalega? :)))

100 MPH ?? just trying to work out what this stands for in India thesedays, is it still Millimeters per hour , or is it now up to Metres per hour ?? :)

Its definitely miles per hour in Pakistan.

Comment below an article.... :)

Ishant seems all set to play his 50th test. Someone should ask him if he is planning to celebrate the milestone by doing something different - like taking wickets.

I agree with that commentator. Can't believe someone played 50 tests for India, still getting picked despite not taking wickets and blaming on bad luck. :pissed:

You know you suck when RHossain, Lakmal, Giles, etc are doing better than you. :lee

In fact, Giles did quite well in that 2005 Ashes win for England. Whereas, Ishant is just a waste of space and team spot. Always hiding behind the excuse (usually spouted by BCCI Parrots SunnyG, Ravi bot and Harsha Bhogle in the comm box and in the new paper columns) of being unlucky not to get many(any) wickets.

I guess :msd keeps picking these non=performers because he doesnt want to appear as the bad guy since all these guys do is complain about outside factors such as luck when they should be taking responsibility for their non-performance. :msd is smart he is giving these guys enough rope to hang themselves. Sehwag, GG, Bhajji and Zak cant complain about lack of support from Dhoni :VVS. And now Ishant will be under the pump since the Sehwag drop and rightly so. Plus its the selectors job to do the dirty work of dropping and I guess they have taken some steps in the right direction.

Wake me up when the stooges Gavaskar, Shastri or Bhogle have the balls to disagree with the Bcci. Harsha bhogle is busy convincing cricket fans that the IPL is comparable to test cricket :)))

Ishant Sharma and 50 tests @39.Biggest Travesty to Indian cricket.Atleast Sir Jadeja does something good once in a while.

Yeah in the last test, Harsha was asking Siva what does the color yellow signify alluding to the Chennai SuperKings. Siva didnt take the bait (He has been surprisingly good as a commentator this series considering how bad he generally is) and Harsha was made to look like a fool which he has turned out to be ever since he had become a stooge. Harsha was even cheering for a boundary save by Jadeja . It would have been funny if it wasnt so pathetic.

Harsha bhogle should really only commentate ipl and t20 matches.... :kohli

Forget his Test average... how on earth can a (fast) bowler, supposedly the best, average 43 in T20s ?! Even when you don't want to you still earn a wicket in that format.

Re: Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

Harsha bhogle should not commentate

Fixed.
Ever since he has started his fanboyism and silly jokes, its gotten annoying. Ganguly and Manjrekar are the only decent commies India has got.

Ganguly yea, even though he got carried away before the England series with all the turning pitches and revenge stuff. He is usually entertaining. Manjrekar never really has anything interesting to say, SHastri and Bhogle could be used as punishment for prisoners.

Harsha should dress up like a clown and the legendary Sharma and Bhajji should throw eggs at him. Who knows they may get their aim right and its a DLF maximum fun for the IPL audience :msd

PS: If the price is right, Harsha will do it.

I hope Ravi will stand next to him, very good chance Ishant will miss his target :sami

and people bag poor jadeja.
from now on every one will call ishant as sir ishant sharma, since he is the worst bowler to play 50 tests.

^ Not just any sir he is the legendary Sir Sharma. You will not find a bowler like this in a million years

Ishant Sharma is the only cricketer who has a realistic chance of breaking Bradman's record..... with the ball. Provided he plays 50 more tests.

These are exactly my feelings as well :)

Couldn't have said it better. I am really tired of listening to this same old BCCI fearing/worshiping commentary trio of SunnyG, Ravibot and that non stop nonsense Bhogle. These guys rarely ever does any sort of criticism on our player's performance while commentating or analyzing (except may be for Ganguly and to a certain extent Sanjay). These guys are so into their roles as BCCI agents, they simply come up as a boring biased clowns

Today, I was listening to Bob Willis's(yes, the same guy who is much despised and maligned herein PP) commentary in Eng Vs NZ game. It was refreshing to listen to someone who is not afraid to call spade a spade(was more blunt/brutal in his opinion on English batter's performance this morning. Called it was a PATHETIC display of batting). I am afraid we Indian fans may never get to hear such bold/brave criticism in our comm boxes anytime soon.

People like Bob Willis and Ian Chappell have integrity and will actually voice their own opinion. I don't really agree with a lot of stuff they say but you have to respect that.

Ian Chappell too gets similar treatment herein PP ;-)

BTW, he is one of my favt among Aussie commentators.

Re: Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

You got Deal with the devil types like Shastri and Bhogle and you got maniacs like Bedi on the other side who will bash anything that doesn't fit into his loose and narrow description of a quality bowler. Ganguly is balanced. Manjrekar had integrity and dared to reproach :sachin for his bad form but was ridiculed and chastised .

SunnyG is good when talking about the technical aspects of batting. Otherwise, he has sold his soul too.

i think ravi shastri is the worst among the lot.i think every time before he utters a word he thinks what srinivasan would think of it!

Re: Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

Shastri also has very limited vocabulary. That day, Pujara hooked Pattinson for a six and he said what a shot in a flat monotonous voice. Pujara then straight drove another bowler he again said what a shot in same tone. Yet he worms his way into important events of Indian significance like WC 2011, T20 WC 2007, Yuvraj six sixes, etc. :))

Exactly, that's the other extreme we have got :bedi (IMHO, he is the perfect example of Present day "Nakeeran". In our state's folklore we had a Poet named Nakkeeran who supposedly lived in Madurai many centuries ago. Whose only Job/hobby(?) was to find fault(s) of other poets and reveal it to the King of madurai, this is how he made his living)

Unfortunately, Manjrekar is not appreciated by many(Indian fans). He may not be as blunt in his statements like Ganguly but he does make it to a point that he reasons his criticism albeit in a soft manner(bit diplomatic but nevertheless raises his voice against non-performers). My only gripe with Ganguly is his blind support for his players from the past :bhajji (and veiled bias against MSD?) even when they are doing nothing to get notice.

did u see the innings kohli played against sl in that cb series?his 133 n.o.
shastri and manjrekar did commentary as if they just came back from someone's funeral!
i later saw the highlights of his innings in sky sports on youtube i think and the commentators over there were going absolutely nuts!it was so refreshing to watch!

That must have been Channel 9's commentary team. B'cos sky does not use their team for non-england related matches like this one. They get the video/audio feed from the host broadcaster, which in this case was Channel 9 :)

Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

Get to 70 first mate than think about 100mph

his bowling was utter crap today.if he can be beaten like this by Raina, its better he don't go to England for CT.

Raina is one of the best out there in T20 cricket and when he gets going, there is no stopping. He completely owned Ishant.

The one thing that worries me is, where was the bouncer or yorker or slower ball? He did not bowl any of those. He was bowling one dolly after another. The only other variation he had was short on leg stump. Even Thisara Periera was also the same. He was serving Legside full tosses.

Sometimes it becomes a little suspicious. How can you not try to bowl a slower one or yorker when the length balls are getting murdered.

Even Vijay hammered all length balls to sixes. Ishant did not learn. That is very worrying.

The true mark of a good bowler is how he reacts when he gets hit for a couple of sixes. Ishant will never be what BCCI thinks of him. He will have one good game and follows it up with bad games. At this point, I would take Mohit Sharma. He at least tries something different when he gets murdered for a six.

Ha ha.. But to his credit, I think he was decent so far in the tournament, wasn't he?

hush! you don't watch IPL?

even Vinay touches 150kph regularly there!

obviously I don't watch IPL, but yes I know vinay is 150kph super express! :lee somehow that express becomes 125kph trundling when it comes to International Cricket! :nehra

Re: Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

Shouldnot be anywhere near the team.Enough of his rubbish.

rubbish and more rubbish..

shld be sent to tihar jail for solitary confinement for life :po:

Re: Ishant Sharma: I Want to Bowl 100MPH

What a lucky guy. He is crap but hey he was lucky ishant. So who cares? :)))

Those 2 wickets turned the game in our favour, Wickets matter, screw it if he bowled a few wides and got hit for sixes. :P

PPers are making a fool of themselves by makng fun of Ishant again and again.

Ishant sharma took 8 wickets with very good average vs Pakistan in India series whereas their hyped up unfit tall hack who has been tauted as the new sensation in world cricket had only 3 wickets...The less said about his wickets tally in SA the better..it is more than laughable...
Ishant took 10 wickets in champions trophy....do I need to say how many wickets Pakistani fast bowler sensaton has taken in the tournament???

So it's been clear now that Pakistan bowling line up is better than each and every team is hyped up statement.

Check below Ishant's performance in India-Pak series.
I am not posting his CT performance...because it might cause upset for many PPers :P

Hate him as much you want, those two wickets were the biggest turning point in the match. Also if you look at his overall figures in the tourney, he stands among the top bowlers. Ishant is here to stay, just for the patriotic spirit he has in him.
