As per reports

Colin Munro, who had tested positive for COVID-19 during the Big Bash League, has arrived in Pakistan.

As per the medical panel rules “if you had COVID-19 in the last 28 days, you do not need to isolate”.

Sources privacy to the matter, however, said that Munro is unlikely to play today's game against Zalmi.

Islamabad United have won the toss and opted to bowl first in Match 5 against Peshawar Zalmi

Look a strong starting XI IU.

Their problems may be that their back up players aren't the strongest.

Haider Ali is such a sweet timer of the ball.

A joy to watch.

Babar Abdullah and Haider would be an amazing trio to watch in Pakistan colours in terms of their style

Couple of big lads and big hitters behind the stumps for IU:

Azam and Stirling.

Hassan Ali back to his best

It looks like the pitch and conditions are too good for batting. We may see another high scoring game tonight as well.

Zalmi crumbling :)))

Alex hales and stirling have caused wahab riaz to fall down.. guy wanted to pull out if the delivery :)). Loving the phainty they are getting from us

According to David Gower, today's game has been sold out. But when you look at the screen, you don't feel 7,000-7,500 people have turned up

The camera work need to improve. Some time you don't know if the ball has been hit for four or there is a fielder at the rope. Camera need to be moved.

May be to commentators have been asked to say it by the management. I have not seen the stadium to be at even 10% capacity in any of the games. It's most likely 3-5%.

Alle the batsmen destroying Zalmi are foreingers. Would have been great if a young pakistani batsmen could play like this.

They mentioned that 25 percent is the max capacity allowed due to covid and its sold out for the lhr vs kar game.

Shadab Khan: When you win, you are happy. We have a young team, I am so happy with their attitude, especially the way they fielded. I just told them (the batters) to play freely. Gurbaz is playing his first game here and I just asked him to enjoy his game and spend some time out in the middle.

Wahab Riaz: Some pain in the ribs, I fell down badly, hope I recover soon. My foot got stuck and I fell down. It was a very good total on the board. We should have used more slower ones. It was a very good score to defend.

Paul Stirling | Player of the Match: The pitch is getting better and better. It was about assessing it quickly. (The plan) Go out there, watch the ball and hit it. Hales has been batting well for the last few months.

Sensational half-centuries from openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales started Islamabad United’s HBL Pakistan Super League 2022 campaign with a commanding win over Peshawar Zalmi.

Islamabad overhauled 169-run target on the back of a blazing partnership worth 112 in 9.4 overs between the two. Stirling recorded Islamabad United’s fastest 50, breaching the landmark in just 18 balls. He spanked seven fours and three sixes in his 25-ball 57.

After Stirling was run out, Hales continues to score briskly. He raced to 82 not out off 54, hitting 13 fours and a six, as Islamabad chased down the target with 25 balls spare.

Other performers:

That Peshawar Zalmi had posted 168 was because of a remarkable 70 not out off 46 by Sherfane Rutherford. The left-handed batter helped Peshawar stage a recovery after walking in to bat with his team at a precarious 35 for four. He was supported by Ben Cutting (26 off 17) in the death as the two added 51 in 29 balls.

Quotes:

Alex Hales - It was incredible to be out in the middle. The ball was coming onto the bat nicely. The wickets in Karachi are always good to bat on and today's was a fantastic one to bat on. I thoroughly enjoyed the partnership with Paul Stirling and credit to him how he provided us a great start. Once he got going, all I had to do was carry the momentum and having him by my side eased the pressure off me.

We have gotten an ideal start to the HBL PSL 2022 and now the idea is to build on this beginning. I am extremely excited for this season.

Scores in brief:

Peshawar Zalmi 168-6, 20 overs (Sherfane Rutherford 70, Ben Cutting 26, Shoaib Malik 25; Faheem Ashraf 2-23, Hasan Ali 2-34)

Islamabad United 172-1, 15.5 overs (Alex Hales 82 not out, Paul Stirling 57)
