What's new

Islamabad United defeat Lahore Qalandars by 49 runs in Karachi to qualify for the play-offs

A lot of room in the outfield was occupied by the workers for construction in the stadium. The far sides of the outfield is basically ruined. It would have been dangerous for the fielders if the boundaries were stretched.

Interesting, didn't know that.

That explains the boundaries then

Sad to see so many empty seats. A country or lets say a city of 25 million cant fill a stadium with a capacity of 34,200

For a country that is “starving for cricket” you’d expect a full crowd with ease.

I went to two games last year, and it took about an hour of standing in line to get in. Not as easy as you might think.

Lamichanne is incredible, man. Those stats in the powerplay are unreal.

6 overs, 11 runs, 5 wickets!

Asif Ali and Faheem will be lethal today.

That'll be bad news for PCT in WC perspective ...... what you should really, really hope that the posedu all-rounder gets spanked with ball so that PAK plays a genuine pacer instead of wannabe Imran Khan and the hack gets exposed enough so that PCT selectors don't waste a spot in WC squad for those couple of Sixes in Asia Cup.

Crowd is improving, might see a much more by the end of this innings

Ben Cutting should have been brought into the PSL especially with his partner Erin Holland already there and he also toured with the World XI.

Faheem is already in the mix.

Karachi has the best crowd. Those whinging about it will see it soon. None of the cricket stadiums buzz as much. Unfortunately the Karachi security situation demands too much to get to the stadium which is a huge turn off. Those who don't live in Karachi have no idea what it takes to get inside this stadium.

Heard the curator saying that it’s a miracle they managed to even save the pitch. Highly unprofessional attitude from the construction team.

When you buy cheap labour and unprofessional construction company then that is bound to happen. Wasted so much time and money on it as well yet it looks incomplete.

Sohail Akhtar dropped an easy catch here. Fielders should communicate

Many who bought the tickets probably couldn't make it due to the shift to Karachi. Travelling from the North of Pakistan to Karachi isn't feasible for many people. One reason why we I was so disappointed with the move to Karachi, if possible a move to Rawalpindi would have been good. Also take into account that security arrangements mean people have to leave their homes at 4 pm.

Lovely to see all the Lahoris whining about the crowd and ground.... aur jalo :maqsood :yk

I guess they forget how dry and boring the crowds were at Ghaddafi last year

Yes, becuase the bounderis are smaller then the ones i had for my school team. If they really wanted these small bounderies then they should have gone for Hong Kong super sixes. This is a joke.

I think having the boundaries is good from a entertainment purposes but not cricket perspective.

Tbh Lahore have also been bowling poor line.

Somehow I doubt that they have increased the capacity. They have installed a lot of chairs which is bound to reduce the capacity of the stadium.

Won't be surprised if it's 30,000 now.

Where as around the world, grounds are getting bigger and better we are reducing and making them worse.

If they remove that ridiculous scorecard, they could add a decent amount of seats in.

They don't hire proper professionals for the job who actually make the plans on how best to utilise the space they have which is why they end up with a ridiculous looking project in the end.

Agreed, Lahore have bowled poorly. The ground size is still bigger than Eden Park in Auckland, yet we don't see such high scoring rates here.

On side note, I think boundaries are still bigger than some NZ and IPL grounds.

Ground looks greener even past the boundaries. So it can definitely be extended for next matches unless its done intentionally.

Haris Rauf will be the key for LQ in for the remaining overs

How well informed are those blaming Karachi for the boundaries? How do you know it's not the PSL administration behind it regardless of venue?

Anyone who follows domestic cricket should know that boundaries are unnaturally short in most major test centres in Pakistan.

Guys stop this Lahore vs Karachi debate.

Lets hope we get international cricket in all the Pak grounds soon and full PSL next year in Pak.

This is beyond crazy. I never thought I would see a cricket game with this boundry size. Even our tape ball cricket in the past had a bigger straight boundry.

Have you never seen a game at Eden Park? A good 5-10m shorter than this.

There is always this shameless poster who always starts it up.

GSL will always be Pakistan's flagship stadium

It's empty at the moment :yk :yk :yk

8 matches in Pakistan's premier city... must hurt Karachi haters like you. Keep crying, don't wet your nappy.

I remember Lahore being full. You really need to get over regionalism as it ain't healthy.

Oh right... I need to get over the regionalism?????? Go read the first posts on this thread, people hating on Karachi for no reason.

So much whining. Is it so difficult to just be happy that Pakistan is hosting cricket?

Anything under 180 from here would be LQ's moral victory from here

The "quality of bowling in PSL is the best" drama will blow up into a million pieces when PSL returns to Pakistan on a full-scale. The UAE pitches are simply not suitable for Limited Overs cricket.

The margin of error for the bowlers is huge. It is really hard to time the ball, and the boundaries are pretty big as well. The UAE leg of PSL is godsend for bowler.

No some people are having trouble accepting that Karachi is hosting matches. Just read the first page of this thread.

Karachi has the best crowd.

I agree.

But the stadium seems to be in poor shape and the boundaries. SAD! Of course, fault of the PCB here.

No money spent at the right time.
