Islamabad United v Quetta Gladiators | PSL 2 | Match 17 | Dubai | Feb 24, 2017 | Match Thread

Then they say Pakistan doesnt have any talent.
bhai jab youngsters ko chance he nai do gai to kaisy kh skty ho ..

More than 70% of the youngsters have performed well and look talented.

Exactly. This PSL has been very good for Pakistani youngsters. All of them have performed. Except for Rafatullah. How unfortunate. He was the brightest of all youngsters.

Yaar people in Bangladesh understand Urdu very well. I was surprised to see when I visited. It is because Indian cinema and the Pakistani influence perhaps. MMHS bro would you agree?

Hindi & Urdu are almost similar language, based from Shanskrit & Pali (Bengali as well).

The history of Urdu language is that it was introduced by Emperor Akbar as a common language for his large army (at one point, it was the largest & most diverse military in world), for which he picked a language with words & grammatical structure from Hindi & Farsi, but alphabets are from Farsi. Later Iqbal & other Urdu scholars enriched the language & PAK as a state selected Urdu as National language, which gave it the status of a major language in world.

Most BD players understands Urdu, Hindi & a bit of Punjabi as well, because of several IND/PAK players playing in Leagues.

The irony that the Grandpa's XI has unveiled the 2 most exciting youngsters.

Haters can hate :misbah4

Apart from Babar, he is the first & only U23 local batsman that's given a game here & played at 3. Therefore, I stick to my assessment is that lack of talent is an excuse to protect the 35+ buddies. I don't see batsman through CricInfo & from little Utube clips I can say that Saad, Saud & probably that U19 WK would have done better than every PAK player over 30 here, may be apart from Malik - and each of them are far, far better fielder.

Agreed however i am still waiting for a good grade a genuine fast bowler from pakistan domestic. Btw, saud shakeel was average against eng lions in england in 2016. I expected better from him

How, this guy Rafatullah gets 3 games is beyond my explanation. Replacement pick I can understand, but given 3 matches after watching him in nets actually questions Dean Jones & Wasim. I hope, this is not a "revenue sharing" selection ........

even this guy was prefer over talat look at his score at PSL 2 AND OVERALL RECORD

Man, these pointless "catch a crore" interviews are seriously lame. Just give them their money and be done with it.

Man there's no need for these catch a crore interviewes.

To be honest, I like these interviews. Goes to show you how much these poor laborers cherish some money. Its life changing for them. The happiness you see on their faces is the real sort of ecstasy and that's what PSL is all about - making people happy.

Yeah, its all about protectionism, what has Misbah, Hafeez, Malik, Sarfraz has done?? - Who are playing every match, where as Youngsters have to perform in the very first match or out forever

Misbah and SK has promoted very bad culture of bashing kids and protecting middle age men :((

IU dropped Babar this year - had he not gone to KK with Arthur in charge, he would have been dropped after 1st match.

It's not about Misbah only, the entire system is built on whose who - I won't explain here for obvious reason, but I can categorically explain & relate why fixing is a chronic problem in PAK cricket. 99% of U19 talented cricketers are basically slaved by the system, where they'll have to "oblige", just get a minimum paid club.

40 year old bowler, bowling to 43 years old batsman, other 40 year old as non-striker, what an advertisement for Pakistan Cricket, nobody thought back in 90s, that Pakistan will go this route

sarfraz & misbah should stop selecting their friends.

Man Talat is playing really good shots, not wild slogging, more embarrassment for Misbahism :))
IU have done a better job of introducing youngsters than Zalmi. They've given Shadab Khan and Rumman Raees a consistent run of games in this tournament, Amad Butt's had a few games too.

Whereas Zalmi for the majority of the tournament have played no youngster unless you count Hasan Ali who's already established in the national team.

Mohammad Asghar's one of Pakistan's brightest spin prospects but has barely played. If he was playing for IU you guys would go ballistic against Misbah.

Talat looks the most natural Pakistani batsman this tournament alongside Babar.

Reminds me of a certain legend in his younger days :misbah

Islamabad are a batsman/all-rounder short today, tail looks too long which means these two will have to wait a bit longer than they'd like before starting to hit out.

Instead of Watto & Shadab, why these 2 Zombis are batting ahead of them? Haddin may be acceptable, as he'll hit it or get out, but the other guy ......

I've liked the look of Mudassar today. Got smashed but it was his first match and I'm really impressed by him. He's definitely a 150 KPH bowler and one for the future.

Moh Irfan Jr. is a bright young guy. Good pace, good height. Just needs to work on his fitness. He's genuinely one for the future, trust me. Lets hope he's managed well. IU needs to roll him in so he gets to work with Wasim Akram. That would change his career.

Other than that, Amad Butt has looked good. These guys are still pretty new so its too early to write them off given their talent.

right on point.

Sai: "Problem with PSL is out-of-form batsman coming early and getting to play more balls and in-form batsman is not getting enough opportunities. For example: Yesterday Gayle and Pollard. Today Misbah and Haddin playing ahead of watson and shadab."

Fielding yaar.. Hassan Khan is one of the finds of the PSL

They have Watto next and Shadab after.. plenty of batting for the remaining overs.

What a fantastic innings by Talat. I had seen him in the recent OD cup and had expected a lot from him in this PSL. Too bad he got the chance very late. That inside out six made me WOW.

Watson can go big from the start of his innings in a way that Haddin and Misbah won't, so it makes sense that he comes in later. You'd rather have Watson batting against pace at the death than Misbah so you can see the logic behind the batting order.

Exactly. You can only fit 11 guys in. Foreign guys are a must for the publicity of the franchise and the tournament. Misbah is the captain. However, that Asif guy playing 3 matches was beyond me.

Only if Misbah and Haddin bat for the next three or four overs. Another batsman and one of this pair could take risks now and try to hit a couple of big shots to maintain the pressure built up from Talat's innings.

I want Zalmi to give chance to Khushdil Shah. He played with Talat in the ODI cup. He is a bright talent too.

I hope we get rid of oldies now and have a team with these young PSL stars for LOIs.

Sarfraz drops again against the spinners.

Too many left arm spinners tho. Who do you bring into the team, Nawaz, Zafar Goher, Imad or Asghar?
I think I'm even forgetting someone.

Yaar yeh Zainab ke interviews are the bane of my existence..

More or less every U23 players are very good fielders - Hasan, Shadab, Mir, Asghar, Babar...

One issue is these are latest generation player, focused on fielding & fitness. Other factor is even taken 2 to 3 years grace, these are still U23 - at their prime physical condition.

Now, I am being politically correct, can say that at 35 you can't wicket keep much or bowl fast and at 40 or 45, you shouldn't play professional cricket ............

Cringe worthy commentary tbh.

Bishop feels out of place. He's the only class commentator.

IU has hard time holding on to young fans, team is full of 40 years old... This is tarnishing the image of Capital, so many Buddhas, that too are boring with zero personality :act

Islamabad is best city in the country and we got worse possible team, completely opposite of the image of the city

I really enjoy the atmosphere these guys have created. Its very entertaining and thats what PSL is all about. Making people happy. This isn't an Ashes Test being played in Lords.

The problem is even Umar Akmal was a spectacular fielder when he was in the u23 stage of his career, but look at him now. He is fat and and unathletic and almost has a heart-attack every time he has to run round to collect the ball on the boundary. That is the situation with most Pakistani cricketers.

Like what Ramiz said about Misbah hitting the ball in the old fashioned way. Needs to get rid of that. Bowlers have learned to adjust now.

Misbah trolling everyone :)))

After trolling everyone, he is standing at 17 of 21 balls in a T20, in 16th over with 6 wickets at hand & best 2 hitters padded up. May be, he is protecting a collapse .....

Misbah cannot even wack spinner, moves too early(don't have reflexes to move fast and late), cannot believe we are still sticking with him for another two years :acp
