Israel marks record tourism from India

Exactly, and that's the open secret no one in Israel wants to admit : the Jews of India, China and Ethiopia are "technically" not Jewish. All these are either the sons of Jewish males (while you become Jewish through the mother, as per Jewish law/halakah) or in fact have no links to Jews at all (that's the case with Falashas/Ethiopian Jews).

The nose is a generic Levantine/Caucasian trait, you find it in all populations of the regions (think of the Armenians), including Jews who have connection with the region (Ashkenazim, Sephardim and Mizrahim).

In Jews it's worse off because they vere very endogamous for centuries, married between themselves for centuries, so the nose comes out weird.

Look at Flavius Joseph, the famous 1st century Jewish historian :

220px-Josephusbust.jpg

Ive read the right of return law of Israel and it states "Every Jew has the right to come to this country as an oleh." What is an Oleh and does this law include Jewish converts too?

Genetics is fascinating, that a certain trait would remain for such a long time for people of a certain region.

Oleh just means one who does aliyah (migration to Israel). And yeah it's ironic but Israel has the same definition of a Jew than Nazi's Nuremberg Laws : basically, while you should be pure Jewish through your maternal side to be considered one by the majority fo Judaism, Israel says that even if you have some Jewish blood (it's called being "Zera Yisrael") then you're eligible to become a citizen. I've heard a story where an entire Ukrainian family went to Israel despite only the wife having a Jewish grandfather.

You have to keep in mind being Jew is an ethnoreligious identity, both ethnicity and religion (a bit like Druzes or Sikhs in India, who are often Punjabis), so even if you're not "religiously" Jew, if you're some "ethnically" Jewish, for Israel and the Nazis it's enough.

My family moved from Jullundar India, Mirpuri pals still mock me with songs of Dum a Dum mast Jullandari.

Having read of the north south divide in India, sometimes I feel Dehli and co should also have been part of Pakistan.

It's jalandhar not jullunder, it was the capital of demon king jalandhara after whom it was named, later lord Rama's son lava ruled it .

Alhumdulilah just got back visited Jerusalem, Hebron, Bethlehem & Jericho.
Had stayed close to Masjid al Aqsa in the old city.
I do regular tours to Masjid al Aqsa Alhumdulilah amazing place.

Good stuff - get rid of the mystery of the place, it'll do both sides a world of good.

However if Jewish men mated with Indian women, the offspring canont be considered Jews as the mother has to be Jew for someone to be classified as a Jew?

HinJews. :batman:

Wrong thread brother, you did not visit Israel.

At airport they asked me about where I will visit etc and I said will visit Jerusalem & other Palestine areas the lady said there is no Palestine only Israel.

This is one of the reasons Ive not visited Jerusalem, I dont want to be spoken to by these evil people in this way. Was it Tel Aviv airport? I dont think I would be able to bite tongue and would probably reply with their is no Israel, it's colony temporary outpost.

But what's the big deal what an airport employee says? Is that going to make or break your trip to Palestine? There, I said it myself!

A couple of things.

1. An aiport employee should provide good customer service which means not to offend anyone intentionally.

2. Israeli laws makes sure all citizens are inducted into the armed forces at 18 years of age, making all of them complict in occupation.

The only problem is you won't be armed with your keyboard there. So... maybe a good idea if you don't go :)

I have no plans of going and its ironic a RSS fan who appears on a Pakistani forum talks about a keyboard. :)

The vast majority of Indian Muslims don't waste a moment of their lives worrying about the RSS. If anyone, it's the Bajrang Dal, VHP, Rama Sene types that bother them.

Unsurprisingly though, the RSS appears to affect a certain type of individual. The number of times you and your buddy Cpt. Rishwat have mentioned the RSS is interesting.

But must say, it is a little disappointing, yet gratifying, to see certain people who often laud themselves for their bravery if nothing else, get cowed down (if you'll excuse the terrible pun) by the RSS :)

The RSS belongs to the so called Sangh Parivar, an informal political umbrella of a dozen of groups/organizations, which includes what you call the "more worrying" ones, and they all have the same ideological roots and ambitions, it's just that some are more "religious" while others are "militant" and so on.

The differences are mainly cosmetic and semantic.

While your knowledge of history and cultural evolution seems remarkable, there are some things that can't be gleaned out of a book.

The RSS are like Britain First, they are a level below the UKIP who are the acceptable face of British nationalism. It escalates in extremism the further down the ladder you go. So it would be UKIP>Britain First>EDL>National Action, etc.

For Hindutva it would be BJP>RSS>VHP>Shiv Sena> Bajrang Dal and so on. All on the surface separate organisations, but all interconnected in reality.

Lol. His was wrong, yours is even further from the truth. Why does PP have such pseudo experts on India.

Who is right about political parties in the land called India? A confused British Pakistani, a confused Bangladeshi, or an Indian?

Exactly.

very poor reasoning, not even worth countering. But you got the attention, which is what matters to you. Carry on..

Trinamool > BJP > Awami League > AIADMK > CPI(M) > JDS > BNP if it makes you happy. :batman:

Write two lines about hegdewar without googling. Since you are the expert on the topic, would be easy. Go on.

1. A Hedge War is fought in bushes and shrubs.

2. Remember to crouch, take aim and fire.

My convent educated friend, you have proved that in india one can be an expert on everything, if one has studied in english medium.

Edited for accuracy.

The exact order isn't really an issue, the central point is that these organisations all have a common cause, the further up the ladder they go, the more respectable the appearance needs to be.

Having read of the north south divide in India, sometimes I feel Dehli and co should also have been part of Pakistan.

You have fallen for a poor stereotype. There is no "north south divide" in India. India is a very diverse country and there is a gradual variation whichever direction you travel. An average Punjabi is more different from a average Maithili than an average Kannadiga. I won't even get into how different (Northerners) like Manipuris etc. are.

What Israel wants to admit, and who to admit changes with the times. They had no problems admitting Indian Keralite Jews but agonized a long time before saving Ethiopian Jews from famine. The "Bene Israel" may or may not have any Jewish ancestry.

Male ancestry is now easily revealed by looking at the Y-chromosome. I believe that the Bene Israel population doesn't show any significant amount of the J2 Y-chromosome which is characteristics of Jews, even though it is actually quite widespread among Indians.

When I talk about the north south divide, I am referring to the divide on PP, where Indian members refer to each others as northies or southies usually for some derogatory purpose. This is further reinforced by Bollywood which I gather is not accepted as representative by south Indians.

I admit my knowledge is second hand, but maybe that affords a more impartial view than you would get from a patriot.

Biggest supporter of bollywood is a southie and the biggest hater is a northie.

Now that has made me switch allegiances, previously I had a soft spot for southies, now I am feeling I have more in common with the northies.

You should try to exploit this faultline. The southies will spill all the secrets of india and can be used against the northies.. all you have to do is to praise them and watch their back against the northies.

You are right. I am going to do a search on IgnitedMind's posts later on and take copious notes. Maybe I'll prepare a special folder and highlight stuff which can be used for future material.

If you have a couple of stupid posters making derogatory comments, it doesn't mean a "north south divide" exists, except in the minds of those who suffer from severe confirmation bias.

Perhaps you are attributing the confirmation bias through a lens of confirmation bias? Did you consider that angle?

Argentina football team has refused to play Israel on humanitarian grounds and here we have our parosis going to Israel en masse singing praises of the Zionist regime. Guess the parosis dream to be like Israel.

It is not like if we don't go to Israel, you will be any nicer to us. Better to make new friends than to try to win your appreciation.

that way many tourist destinations will be off the list. thanks, but no. thanks for your high moral ground.

Israel = many tourist destinations? Stupid stuff.

Also visiting a country and singing its praises are two different things.

I think they do, on their paternal line (yDNA), but of course Judaism is matrilinear if you want to keep a "religious" pov, but if you want to keep it to the "ethnic" side (that is, Nuremberg laws), it's true that Bene Israel do have "Jewish blood". It's the same story with the Kaifeng Jews, those of China, basically Jewish merchants marrying local women.

That's why these Jews look like "locals", whereas Ashkenazim/Sephardim/Mizrahim (minus Yemenis, who have absorbed a lot of local converts) look predominantly Levantine/Caucasian in appearance.

If I'm not wrong it's with Falashas/Ethiopian Jews that we have no instance of Jewish blood at all.

Will you stop visiting saudi arabia because it is killing yemeni children? Or if you visit, will you burden the guilt?

Don't know about you. I would love to visit Israel again. Don't care what others think.

Why is it a problem if someone from another country is going to Israel?

Additionallly, The Argentine Football team cancelled the trip to Israel due to violent threat Messi’s life by Palestinian activists

"Not going to play Israel the right thing" - Higuian

Let's be real, they would in no way be threatened themselves. However, it could've instigated riots which could've lead to use of force by Israeli police/military, which can get pretty messy.

https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/8ovtvh/messi_and_mascherano_were_the_ones_who_pressured/

Messi and Mascherano were the ones who pressured the AFA to cancel the match.

Now my friend, i researched on this pretty well.

Jerusalem would be a very interesting place to visit, moreover the flights from England to Israel seem to be quite cheap and quick.

I’m not sure if I want to go though - obviously not the safest spot for a holiday and I’m sure the atmosphere can be very uncomfortable.

Again its your opinion and you are entitled to it. Why thrust it on others?

I am not thursting my opinion on anyone. I am just calling a spade a spade. Do i have to repeat it again for you? Our religion and basic humanity asks us to at least call out when something wrong is being done if we cannot take physical action against it. Might not be similar at your end, to which i would say suit yourself.

Tibetan genocide and land-grabbing by China hasn't made Pakistanis question their sweeter than honey relationship with Chinese. I dont see you cry for humanity when 50,000 missing Balochs are being recovered with bullet in their heads.

But hey, question humanity when Indian tourists visit Israel. These double standard are the reason why you guys are not taken seriously anywhere.

If you had bothered reading my post, only those who praise a oppressive regime deserve to be called out and the context was Israel. Open a thread on these issues and we can talk about those as well. Crying and throwing your toys out of the pram is not a solution.

Even though Palestinian have my sympathies, incidents like these do not help their cause.

On topic, one day I would love to visit Jerusalem. Place has so much history. Most Israelis I have met in my travels have been very nice people.

Though, I ought to do it quickly. You never know when idiots on both sides will end up destroying the place. Definitely doing it when my current passport is a few months from expiry.

You know exactly what you said, the posts are there for all to read. You will sing praise of an army that has butchered and raped millions in Bangladesh, now doing the same in Baloochistan.

You will sing praise of the Chinese after what they did to Tibetans....But here you are telling us how a human shouldn't be visting or praising Israel.

The topic is about Israel posted on a Pakistani forum by an Indian. I thnk it's probably valid to discuss Israel in this topic. If you want to discuss China, Balochistan or Bangladesh you could probably bump a thread on those topics or start a new one if they are issues close to your heart.

Perhaps you are attributing the confirmation bias through a lens of confirmation bias? Did you consider that angle?

The issue is whether there is a "north south divide" in India. Some North Indians consider themselves better looking and more "white" than Southern Indians. Some South Indians consider themselves more intelligent and law abiding than North Indians.

That does not mean that there is a "north sough divide". Most Indians go about their work and treat each other without prejudice. I say this as someone who lived in India for many decades.

Besides, "North India" is a very diverse entity.

I had gathered most of these observations myself without ever having stepped foot in India. The northies vs southies thing was something that was going on a while back, a few Indians from south were blaming all the nasty stuff on the northies, northies responded by insulting the southies and so on. Us guys just pick up on this stuff and get a broad picture. it might reflect reality, it might not, I'm sure you have some broad pictures of Pakistan which might also reflect some reality and some fiction.

A labour crisis has emerged in Israel after its decision to block tens of thousands of Palestinians from working there.

In October, Israeli construction companies reportedly requested their government in Tel Aviv to allow them to hire up to 100,000 Indian workers to replace Palestinians whose work licences were suspended after the Gaza offensive began.

Thousands of Indian men have applied for those jobs, responding to more than 20,000 positions advertised by the state governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in India.

The question is, do the Indians actually understand what they are getting themselves into? Its going to be a rude wake up call for the ones that do end up emigrating, I cant believe that they will be treated very well at all.

well if you know the internal politics and morals of the settler people, you will understand that people who arent ethnic european or american jews arent treated the best... dealing with racism on a daily basis as well as inferior treatment of migrant workers.
