Wahab Riaz speaking after his man of the match performance in the Pakistan Cup:

The groundsmen in 'pindi need to be given credit as the wicket is not only good for batsmen but also for fast-bowlers too

We had some new players who played under Rizwan for Pakistan A vs England Lions and New Zealand A, so we have players like Mohammad Saad, Adil Amin

You cannot say that you will find new players for World Cup [from this tournament] but if we keep on making such wickets then you will find good batsmen for sure

"It is my top priority to become a part of the World Cup squad

"There is no doubt that we have talented bowlers but its just down to who we pick and chose for this time and that is upto selectors

Some players can be lucky or can be unlucky but I guess its down to fate if he gets into the World Cup squad

One express pacer should be in squad and he is bowling as good as any time in his career; may be not as fast as 2015 WC, but still easily the fastest PAK pacer around ... much better option than Shinwari or Junaid, and fast bowling all-rounder Faheem. Shouldn't start ahead of Shaheen, and Hasan must play to avoid 4 left arm bowlers (including Imad/Haris), and Shadab also taking stock ball away from right handers, but should be in squad.

I’d pick Hasnain over him if you want an express pace bowler. Wahab has failed to deliver through a long career. Time to invest in a younger bloke!

No thanks, the team's mediocre enough without you offering up your buffet bowling for the opposition to feast upon.

Sorry about the choppy video guys.

After the six he fed to Smith were he completely exposed his stumps, he has proven once and for all that he has no brains whatsoever.

Do not take him to the World Cup. I can see some batters taking him apart.

Still remember him & shehzad in the CT pak were literally playing with 9 players. For the love of god keep him out!!

Not a big fan of him , but he is in great form and still the fastest in Pakistan, so I would take him ahead of Shinwarim Junaid and Aamir.

He's not easily the fastest. Hasnain and Rauf are right there.

People have short term memory. There is a reason the last one dayer he played was almost 2 years ago. Go look at the scorecard for that match, and you'll know the reason.

Not to mention the other humiliation he heaped on us with his performance against England in that world record batting match and the delivery to Smith in the last WC.

At least he has the record of conceding the 2nd highest amount of runs in an odi. 110.

Don't need him. He is good enough for domestic but international batsman will take him apart.

They aren't though. Both bowl majority of their deliveries high 130s to low 140s. Wahab is consistently bowling fast, and I believe the squad needs one out and out fast bowler. If we had medium-fast bowlers who were outstanding then we could leave him out of the equation, but every one of our options bar Hasan and Afridi have generally unde-performed in the previous year. Amir, Junaid, Shinwari and Abbas could just as easily be smashed to all corners come the world cup, none of them have the fear factor these days.

Looks like his dream has been shattered. Not in the 23 probables.

Sad but you never know - if he does outstandingly well in Pakistan Cup, the selectors may change mind

Faheem is not an all rounder.

Sohail Tanvir is more of an all rounder than Faheem and

Incidentally his first five-fer in List A since 2011.

What? They've both been bowling low to mid 140s consistently.

They bowl low 140's vast majority of the time, whereas Wahab is usually mid 140+. That might not seem much, but it definitely puts him one grade higher as an out and out fast bowler. Speed isn't everything, I would agree, but you aren't as fast, then you need to show other qualities which make you stand out. With Hasnain and Rauf I feel they are still a bit unknown when you are talking about pitching into a World Cup.

Dont think we can write off Wahab for the World Cup - if he ends up as the top wicket-taker in the tournament then it will be very hard for Mickey/Sarf to ignore him
