Shaheen Shah Afridi shared following thoughts ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka starting from tomorrow:

"Winning increases confidence. However, the problem is that when you win, you often overlook the mistakes that happen. In contrast, if we lose, we tend to remember the mistakes. You know this is true."

"When you win, you don't necessarily notice the mistakes. But this is the one-day format, and there is still plenty of time before the World Cup. As for the T20 players, it's clear they know what they are working on."

"My job here is to focus on improving our one-day cricket and guiding the players. Of course, we discussed the mistakes we made. It is the senior players who have the responsibility to fix the errors and can only do so by improving the team's performance."

"No one drops a catch intentionally, but this is part of cricket and the game."

"From my point of view, if you look at our fielding, the new fielding coach has come in, and there has been a lot of improvement in fielding. Our fielding significantly improved throughout the series. Yes, in the last one-day match we lost, we did drop catches. But I believe the boys are working hard to make things better."

"No, I think everyone has to share the responsibility. If you want to improve team cricket and take it towards betterment, it's not just the responsibility of Rizwan, Babar, Shaheen, Fakhar, or Saim. The responsibility falls on every player, from the first to the last, to make this team better. And we can only do this together as a team."

"Rizwan, to my knowledge, is the highest run-scorer in ODIs since 2023. He is playing very good cricket in the ODIs and is improving day by day. We are trying to support and encourage the player who is out of form, meaning we back him, so he performs for Pakistan in the next match. If a player's performance isn't up to the mark and you look at him with disappointment, his performance could actually get worse. So, our team's job is to stick together and play the match together."

"I think the captain should, of course, be involved in such decisions because the captain is the one who leads the eleven players. The selectors and their team select the players, but I believe the captain should be involved, and if the captain is knowledgeable, the team will fight better, because the responsibility ultimately rests on the captain."

"Regarding Hassan Nawaz, congratulations to him first. We played a match against South Africa in Pindi, and it happened around the same time, but he had family, and he hadn't spent time with them; he was continuously with the team. So, he was also released for that reason, as his family was waiting."

"The reality is that at the number Hassan Nawaz is currently batting, if he plays domestic cricket, it would be better for him because that spot is currently occupied by other players. If he plays domestic cricket, he will improve."

"Hasan Nawaz being released does not mean he has completely disappeared from the team. He is the future of Pakistan. First of all, when I was offered the captaincy, I spoke to everyone, including Babar at the time, about getting the captaincy and everything, but I won't go into who was removed or what happened."

"However, I only discussed the captaincy with Rizwan first. I told him that I was becoming the captain of the Pakistan team and asked him what his feelings were on it and what he wanted. Rizwan is a good person and decided himself that he was stepping back, and I was taking over. So, we consulted together and then made this decision."

"No, I don't think so. If someone is supporting and cheering for me, I should be more encouraged that our own people are supporting us. The best feeling is playing in your home country, under your conditions, and with your people's support; you should take advantage of that."

"Babar is not the kind of player whose confidence will be affected by just one or two matches. He will make a comeback. I feel he is in good touch, and hopefully, he will be 100 times better, God willing."

"Whatever advice I need at the time, I take it, and I approach everyone. I don't have any ego that they are my former captains and this and that. What happened has happened. This is the Pakistan team, and we have to make it better together."

LOL on his comments on Hassan Nawaz. Very poor as usual.

Babar has been below average for years now, these guys are just pathetic!

Reading reports in the media that Hesson doesn't want Fakhar Zaman in the team and wanted him to be replaced by Haseebullah

Non sense comments on Hassan Nawaz that he should spend time with family, he should go back to domestics, his spot is currently occupied by other player. If this was the reason why he was called to the team. Why Babar, Haris Rauf, Nasim Shah and Shaheen himself doesn't need to play domestic cricket?

He does talk nonsense you'd give him that.

-Babar is below average since 3+ years, not 1-2 matches.
-Hassan Nawaz was released because his family was waiting? Waiting where?
-The nain mataka between him and Rizwan for captaincy is a better story than heer ranjha.

Some nonsense comments if these so called experience players have not performed in the past how they are going to fix things in the future living in a cuckoo land

The letting Rizwan know was a good thing on his part. And this also shows how terrible he felt when Babar stabbed in the back, and because he didnt want such situation on Rizwans end he told him first. That shows maturity.

One of the reasons why Babar lost the dressing room was because of the way he decided to become the captain. He was thrown a bone and he grabbed it without caring how his team mates felt
