When Sajid Khan took 7 wickets in an innings today - for the 2nd time in his short career, it made me look all the bowler who have taken a 7-wicket haul for Pakistan.

The thing that stood out was .... that last time a fast bowler (Mohammad Zahid) took 7 wickets in an innings was in 1996.

Imran Khan did it 5 times.... more than any Pakistani bowler.

Great post @W63L35 bro, can you please share the similar stats for other full member Test playing nations for a better comparison.

Thanks... Here is the list for India... but the other teams like Eng, Aus, WI the lists will be very long. I can post the links here... Kapil Dev has done it 5 times... all other Indian pacers combined 6 times.

The difference is those bowlers in the 90s could get away with reverse swing from ball tampering. That old recipe doesn't work in the modern game.

Five 7 wicket hauls for a fast bowler is out of this world. Bumrah could never.
Wait for them to tell you it's because the quality of the Indian attack (Siraj :)) ) is so good that he doesn't get a chance to get 7-fers.

Thanks, I infact got around to seeing this yesterday.
Such a shame about the quality though, you can barely see where the ball is most of the time

I saw it today for the first time.

Quality is understandable considering this game took place in 1979.

Indian bowlers don't use bottle caps for ball tempering like Pakistan used to be.

As soon as bottle caps amd home umpire rules ends , Pakistan pacers are becomes useless .

Land of pacers now becomes land of trundlers . :kp

Nah even for 70s footage it's bad. Just seems like it wasn't preserved as well since it's not a very well known moment in cricket. Understandable since people would want to preserve stuff like like the Windies heyday that gets more eyeballs, of which better 70s footage exists.

And the guy with most 7-for , for Pakistan is in jail , in solitary confinement.

Getting 7 fer is good, but three pacers contributing with 3 wickets each is better 👍🏻
Pacers should hunt in pack, Dependency on one pacer is dangerous 👍🏻

Bottle caps !!
If I could bet on this response, I would have been even richer than I am now because I predicted this with 100% accuracy.

Just like we can all predict with 100% accuracy that whenever there is some swing on offer, the Indian batsmen will display their 0 skill vs the moving ball.
