Not a single serious attack by England since that first goal, strange tactics!
 
First proper opponents and its showing on the field.
Even the dives wont help if they can’t get the ball to Italy’s half.

They have a history, Moise Kean was racially abused by Italian fans and Bonucci rather than blaming fans, blamed Kean and Sterling called him out for that.

Emerson and di lorenzo have been the weak links and to an extent Insigne as well but the rest of the team has been spot on
 
Everyone could see that equalizer coming from a mile away...Southgate hasnt learnt from Croatia 2018, same old tactics. Just needed somebody to hold the ball, what a wasted opportunity
 
Really disappointed with the performance after the early goal. Tried to shut shop and and stopped playing.

No mate they started off with five at the back and were set up to counter.

That's fine but doesn't work when you're one up and alloweing the team to come onto you like that... wave after wave of attack

The wing backs give you width and they are setup to play up the field and it worked with Shaw scoring but once they scored they went to an unflexible 5 and that meant there were no outlet balls.
 
Okay desperate times....Sterling should dive now and secure a penalty :P
 
I think Italy could have won that match in extra time if they really went for it, but it seemed they ran out of steam and allowed England to settle.
 
Due to sterling i was supporting Italy. Really hate that cheater

Deserved to be champions - the best team in the tournament.

Yet another painfull loss..penalties never a lottery with England.

The players are there, hope they come back better prepared

Can’t believe the English team turned up for the tournament without practicing penalties. Probably never really believed that they will get this far.

I feel sorry for the English fans.

In July 2021, Italy go a national record 34 games unbeaten and win the European Championship.

Build the man a statue .
 
Never really felt like England were going to win it. Even when they were leading at half time I said I thought Italy would equalise.
 
Eng played awfully in 2nd half due to negative tactics. Southgate totally inept esp with subs
 
English offense was non-existent. Italy played like Cornered Tigers

I'm pretty sure they did practice them, but you can't replicate the pressure of the actual day on a practice pitch.
 
thats what you get for shutting up shop after the opening goal. They came back to life in the last 20, but too late. And losing on penalties is that much funnier :))
 
Tbh England had an easier route to the final and had luck on their side. Didn’t really deserve to be in the Final in first place.

I don’t get the feeling that Southgate is the right man for the job and the next big tournament (WC) isnt that far away. Unfortunately as a result of England reaching the final, he wont get replaced and England won’t be this lucky in the next tournament.

In any case I hope we don’t get to see any more of the cheat Rahim Sterling in English team.
 
who would ask the youngest rookie to take 5th penalty with match on line?

Italy should have finished them off earlier.. in the 1st half they were playing like they were playing Peles Brazil !!

To be honest I don't think England will ever have a better chance of winning a major tournament. Not only did they have a fairly easy route through after beating Germany, but the two biggest threats to them, Belgium and France got knocked out in the quarters. I don't think they'd have had much chance against them as they had genuine goal scorers in their team whereas Italy and Spain both were light on world class strikers despite being good footballing teams.

You know how. VR may or may not be conclusive but one can easily judge it for themselves after watching the replay (plus he has the track record for being a cheat).

Therefore he deserved to be on the losing side.
 
England have no bottle, pathetic, seen it too often now!

Congrats to Italia. Fully deserved. Its going Rome.
