Absolutely, I am actually quite happy seeing these two teams meet in a final!! Although i am rooting for England surely they have worked quite hard to reach up to this level in international cricket!

It really depends which elements you refer to. I can't complain about the administrators' treatment of Pakistan. ECB have invited Pakistan for tours in 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 and they are genuinely trying to engage with the Asian community. A Brit is now heading our cricket board.

Pundits are a mixed bag. There are many English commentators with a big soft spot for Pakistan, probably because of how many Pakistanis used to play in County Cricket alongside them and a respect was developed.
You mention Geoff Boycott who spoke up for Pakistan in 1992, he also defended Pakistan during Inzamam's 2006 ball tampering hearing.

Nasser definitely has a soft spot for Pakistan while Atherton was a big supporter of Amir's rehabilitation.

It's people like Botham who leave a sour taste. Another guy who couldn't hide his contempt for Pakistan was Jack Bannister. He commentated for BBC and later Talksport.

I'm proud to be british, though there are a sufficient minority of racists, who have become more embolden due to brexit, but the majority of brits are goood, honest, decent people!
Due to the history of the england cricket team's attitude towards the pakistan cricket team and their players, which has not changed, as i have highlighted, i cannot support this current england cricket team!!!

Oh yeah, this is not the most diverse england team, england has used players to enhance their team always.

I was a huge fan of Glenn McGrath and ever since his retirement, there has never been another like him, and possibly never will. However, I really have come to like the very testing and the nagging line and length that Woakes bowls. He has been such a huge addition to this England team. He has been so hard to get away with. Really seems like a man on a mission. Slowly becoming a fan of this guy.

If England do end up winning the tournament, it´ll mainly be due to their bowlers I feel. A good bowling attack was the primary missing link in the recent two ICC tournaments that they had played, in my opinion.

I think what the England openers, both Roy and Bairstow, did very smartly was that they didn´t go on a leather hunt right from the word go. They took their time, as England had just 19 on the board after the first five overs. I say "just" because it was very slow by the standard of these two openers. However, what that meant was that they got their eye in, avoided giving early wickets and Australia thus never got a sniff. Defending a total as low as 224, bowlers´ shoulders begin to drop very quickly if they don´t get early wickets.

This is exactly what India needed to do against the pumped up New Zealand attack, and the match was theirs for the taking. Of course, the Indian top-order didn´t get out going for the big shots. However, they could´ve given it a better effort at leaving balls outside the off-stumps and also those which were away from the body, given the waiting slip fielders. The focus should entirely have been on playing those with the straight bat which were coming at the stumps. A big miss on their part!

You don't have to justify supporting england in the cricket, if thats what you want to do!
Just like i should not have to justify why i am not supporting england!
Its just a game, has no real significance in the real world!
The england football team is more diverse than the england cricket team, but large sections of their fans are much worse than the barmy army! But then again, the football team has a much larger following, so will have more chance of attracting idiots!

Just because the england cricket team are ranked no. 1 in odis, doesn't mean that they have earned the right to be supported.
You can be the lowest ranked team in the world but if you play the game in the right way and show respect, people will support
such teams.
When i feel england is a team i can support, i will support them, but i was introduced to cricket, as a young child, by my father. He took me to edgbaston and i saw the great imran khan and i was hooked. Can not really support any other team in all honesty!
Same with the football, i watched the 86 wc, supporting england and gary lineker was my favourite player. Then a certain diego maradonna pops up in the quarter finals and i was blown away with what he could do with a football. Been an argentina fan ever since!
Sports are just about having fun(and sometimes not so much fun). All this patriotism talk is cutting it very close to racism!!
Sports and politics, patriotism etc, should not mix in my humble opinion!

I will always support England over Australia as the Aussie arrogance and self righteous cricket team is pretty on par with the English teams of yester years.

My son who is half Aussie but British born but lived in Aus all his life is a Pakistan supporter first, then England and Australia a distant third!

I can't believe all the nasty hatred prior to this game, a bunch of hard working guys who dedicated themselves for 4 years! 4 years! meticulous planning, sacrifice, the blood, sweat and tears; becoming number 1 yet their remained a hostility due to ignorance and narrow minds, the cricket being played by England of a high calibre is to be admired! They put the damn CHAMPION! in WORLD CHAMPION!
