Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has become the first player born this millennium to start for England.

The 18-year-old, who impressed on his full debut against the USA at Wembley, was born on 25 March 2000.

He has been labelled England’s brightest talent by Rio Ferdinand, but because he plies his trade in Germany, he remains a bit of an enigma to many Three Lions fans.

Here, talkSPORT.com takes a detailed look at the ex-Manchester City man’s life in football up to this point.

Who is Jadon Sancho?
Born in London to parents from Trinidad and Tobago, Sancho spent most of his childhood at Watford. He joined the Hornets as a seven-year-old and spent seven years of his youth career there, rising through the ranks and leaving a lasting impression on staff.

In 2015, the forward moved to Manchester City for an initial fee of £66,000 under the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) although that could rise to £500,000 with add-ons.

Sancho continued to go from strength-to-strength and quickly established himself as one of the academy’s brightest stars.

After two years at City, chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak revealed Sancho would be fast-tracked into the senior set-up.

However, in July 2017, Sancho was omitted from the pre-season tour squad due to a dispute over assurances of playing time in a new contract. He subsequently began to force a move away from the club.

On 31 August 2017, Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of £8million. The club immediately awarded him the number 7 shirt which had been vacated by Barcelona-bound Ousmane Dembele.

He had to wait for his opportunities with Dortmund. Sancho became the first Englishman to play a Bundesliga match for the club when he made his debut in October 2017 against Eintracht Frankfurt.

His first goal in professional football came on April 21 earlier this year. He opened the scoring in a 4-0 victory over Wolfsburg, a game in which he also notched two assists.

Since the beginning of the 2018/19 campaign, Sancho has mainly featured from the bench but made his first start of the season against Ausburg in October.

Sancho has been a regular goalscorer for England’s under-16s, under-17s and under-19s, however he has never appeared for the under-21s as Southgate opts to fast-track him into the senior set-up.

Seems like a good prospect - England could be the team to beat by the next World Cup if such players keep on progressing

Seems like a good prospect - England could be the team to beat by the next World Cup if such players keep on progressing

I wouldnt go that far lol.

But yes he is an exceptional talent, having a great season for Dortmund. I'm hoping LFC can pick him as our manager is the former Dortmund boss :klopp

Class player, would love him at Chelsea to play on the right where we've got two 30/31 year old players.

Lol no France will be the team to beat in the next world cup as the team that won this year is very young and many of the players will be in prime.

He was instrumental in Dortmund's 3-2 win against Bayern too. What a talent at 18 years of age. Great decision to leave City and the Premier League in order to get more regular football in a major European league and it has paid off and he is developing tremendously. More young English players need to follow his example but too many are blinded by money and are happy warming the bench.

Klopp wasn't even there when Sancho signed lol.

Very exciting talent. Doing well at Dortmund outside of his comfort zone. Can see him returning to the premier league though.

Jadon Sancho provided two assists as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Hannover 5-1 to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to nine points.

English teenager Sancho, 18, has now supplied nine league goals - as well as scoring six - after laying on Mario Gotze for Dortmund's third.

Achraf Hakimi, Marco Reus, Raphael Guerreiro and Axel Witsel also scored.

Marvin Bakalorz grabbed a late consolation goal for Hannover but the contest was already over.

The sad reality is, players not within the inner circle of certain Eglish clubs and areas do not get picked, or do not get picked often enough. Sancho is good enough to be in every English squad going forward and is the type of quick footed player the team need in the middle, to link up with someone like Sterling, who is so wasted in England.

Callum Hudson Odoi is another exciting prospect. Hopefully he goes to a team where he will play and you'll see how good he is.

Jadon Sancho out to prove a point against Tottenham in Borussia Dortmund Champions League clash

"This is all crazy. I never knew you could be so well-known over your success. I never knew they would take so much interest."

The former Manchester City youngster, who was born in south London, is heading back to his home country for the first time in club football having established himself as one of the brightest young talents in Europe.

Sancho has scored eight goals in 28 appearances for the German side this season and is expected to play a vital role in their last-16 tie against Spurs.

The 18-year-old showed no nerves on his first international start for England at Wembley in November and is hoping for a similar display against Tottenham.

"I'll be playing in front of my family, which is something I've wanted to do since I was a young boy," Sancho said. "I'd love to play in front of my home town. Hopefully I can show London people what I'm about."

Sancho's consistent performances for the Bundesliga leaders has attracted a wealth of online attention, but he is refusing to let that distract him.

"Obviously I've seen Twitter things, but I don't ask questions really," he said. "I just stay focused on what I'm doing, and just keep going forward.

"This is all crazy. I never knew you could be so well-known over your success. I thought if you are doing well everyone talks, obviously the fans, but I never knew they would take so much interest."

Sancho has also been praised for his decision to leave Pep Guardiola's City side to move abroad in search of regular first-team football.

"When I first left home it was very difficult, Harefield Academy [the Hertfordshire boarding school] when I was at Watford. It was difficult because I wasn't used to it," Sancho explained.

"I was always with my mum. The first couple of years were very tough, and then as I got older, people started to tell me, 'It's either this, or going back home.'

"I always loved football, so I always chose the hard option. That's what's made me more comfortable being away from home than other people. So I'm kind of lucky."

Heard the whole Dortmund team were delayed cos he left his passport!

Jadon Sancho was hit by a lighter from the crowd as nine-man Borussia Dortmund lost to local rivals Schalke to leave their title dreams in tatters.

Dortmund led when Mario Gotze headed in from Sancho's aerial pass, but the Englishman needed treatment after being hit during the celebrations.

Daniel Caligiuri levelled with a penalty and set up Salif Sane's header before scoring a second goal.

Axel Witsel briefly gave Dortmund hope before Breel Embolo's 20-yard clincher.

Dortmund duo Marco Reus and Marius Wolf were both shown straight red cards for dangerous tackles on Suat Serdar.

Bayern Munich now only need to win three of their final four games - starting with Sunday's trip to Nuremberg (17:00 BST) - to win a seventh consecutive Bundesliga title.

The Ruhr derby had started off so well for Dortmund - who were nine points clear in December and top until 6 April when they lost 5-0 to Bayern.

England winger Sancho, 19, set up his 14th Bundesliga goal of the season when he picked out Gotze with a wonderful ball over the top.

He was hit in the face by the lighter as they celebrated in front of the home fans but was able to continue.

But their afternoon turned when 15th-placed Schalke got a controversial video assistant referee-awarded penalty for handball, with Caligiuri converting.

The winger then assisted Sane with a corner before scoring a brilliant free-kick from 25 yards following Reus' red card.

Wolf was then sent off, before Witsel tapped in from close range - but seconds later Embolo hit a sweet 20-yard strike to seal the win.

Jadon Sancho: Borussia Dortmund's England winger agrees new £190k-a-week contract

Borussia Dortmund's England winger Jadon Sancho has agreed a new contract with the Bundesliga club worth about £190,000 a week, including bonuses.

The 19-year-old, who was the subject of summer interest from Manchester United, scored 13 goals last season as Dortmund finished second behind Bayern Munich.

Sancho also scored in their opening league game this term - Saturday's 5-1 win over Augsburg.

Signed from Manchester City in 2017, his previous deal ran until 2022.

Sancho, who was part of Watford's academy before joining City, made his England debut against Croatia in October 2018 and has six caps.

Jadon Sancho scored one and assisted another goal as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat newly-promoted Cologne to make it two wins out of two at the start of the Bundesliga season.

Cologne sprung a surprise when Dominick Drexler headed them in front.

But England winger Sancho levelled the scores with 20 minutes left.

Substitute Achraf Hakimi headed last year's runners-up into the lead before Sancho's pass released Paco Alcacer to seal the victory in injury time.

Dortmund top the table with six points, with all of their chief rivals playing at the weekend.

Sancho, 19, has scored in both of Dortmund's Bundesliga games this season and has reached 15 goals for the club joining in 2017, making him the youngest player to reach that mark in the German league.

LONDON (Reuters) - Borussia Dotmund’s Jadon Sancho was pictured joking with a supporter who implored him to sign for Manchester United as the winger prepared for England’s final Euro 2020 qualifier in Kosovo on Sunday.

The 19-year-old has been heavily linked in the British media with a move to the Premier League after a troubled season in Germany.

Sancho started in England’s 7-0 rout of Montenegro last Thursday although he may miss out on Sunday’s game if Raheem Sterling, who was dropped for disciplinary reasons at Wembley, returns to Gareth Southgate’s side.

London-born Sancho has had his own off-field problems this season and was last month axed and heavily fined by his club after returning late from an England training session.

Dortmund manager Lucien Favre then substituted Sancho after 36 minutes of last week’s 4-0 defeat by Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, later confirming that the winger had not been injured.

The setbacks have stoked the speculation around Sancho, who agreed to a fan’s request for a selfie after England training and then smiled without comment as the supporter urged him to sign for United.

Any such move would be particularly controversial as Sancho was a member of Manchester City’s academy for two years before his move to Germany in 2017.

United are facing another season of struggle in the Premier League and are in need of striking reinforcements after having sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, who have also taken Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez on loan.

Other clubs would almost certainly be interested should Dortmund decide to cash in Sancho, who might command a fee of up to 140 million euros ($154.28 million).

England forward Jadon Sancho scored one goal and made another to help Borussia Dortmund beat Slavia Prague and move into the Champions League last 16.

Sancho finished from close range after Marco Reus' pass on 10 minutes.

But Slavia equalised just before half-time through Tomas Soucek, after good work from team-mate Milan Skoda.

Sancho, 19, then created a goal for Julian Brandt, who scored from a tight angle and Dortmund held on despite Julian Weigl's red card.

Weigl received his second caution with 13 minutes remaining, but Dortmund's qualification was confirmed with Inter Milan, who had started the day above the German side, losing 2-1 at home to Barcelona.

Sancho matches Sutton feat - the stats

Borussia Dortmund have successfully progressed from the Champions League group stages in six of their last seven campaigns in the competition, only failing in 2017-18.
Slavia Prague remain winless in 11 Champions League matches (drew four, lost seven) since winning their first game in the competition against Steaua Bucharest in September 2007.
Dortmund have lost only two of their last 16 home group stage games in the Champions League, winning nine and drawing five.
Jadon Sancho has scored in each of his last five games for Borussia Dortmund in all competitions (six goals), the best scoring run of his club career.
Sancho also became the second Englishman to score in consecutive Champions League appearances for a non-English club, after Chris Sutton with Celtic in 2004.
Dortmund's Julian Brandt has scored (two) or provided assists (three) for five Champions League goals this season; he had only scored or assisted once in his previous four seasons in the competition with former club Bayer Leverkusen before this (one goal, no assists in 21 appearances).
Julian Weigl was the first Borussia Dortmund player to be sent off in a home Champions League game since Lars Ricken against Rosenborg in October 1999.

Borussia Dortmund will demand at least £100m for Jadon Sancho this summer, with Manchester United and Chelsea interested in signing the winger

"You always have to respect what the player wants."

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke says the club will not stand in the way of Jadon Sancho if he wants to leave in the summer.

Jadon Sancho: Borussia Dortmund expect England forward to stay at club

Borussia Dortmund expect Jadon Sancho to stay at the club this summer.

However, a source close to the 20-year-old has told Sky Sports News a move away from Dortmund is still likely as he is unlikely to extend his current contract, which expires in 2022.

Dortmund have maintained they will only sell if the deal is right for the club and the player, who is valued in excess of £100m.

In March, Dortmund's chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke said the club would not stand in Sancho's way if he wanted to leave in the summer.

"You always have to respect what the player wants," he told Bild. "We already said before the coronavirus pandemic that our preference is for Jadon to remain with us".

A number of Europe's top clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in signing Sancho.

Former club Manchester City are due to receive 15 per cent of any sale and have a first refusal clause on the England international which allows them to match any offer that is accepted.

While there are no favourites or front runners, Sancho's preference is to play for a club in the Champions League next season.

The player himself is said to be relaxed about the situation and is fully focused on the return of the Bundesliga next week.

England's Jadon Sancho scored the first hat-trick of his career on his first start since the Bundesliga resumed as Borussia Dortmund thrashed Paderborn.

After an uneventful first half, Thorgan Hazard put Dortmund ahead with a tap-in before Sancho slotted home his first goal since 29 February.

Sancho added the third after Uwe Hunemeier's penalty reduced the bottom side's deficit before Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer made it 5-1.

Sancho got his third in stoppage time.

The 20-year-old is the first English player to score an overseas hat-trick in one of Europe's major leagues for 31 years - former Luton forward Brian Stein was the last person to achieve the feat, playing for Caen against Cannes in France's Ligue 1 on 31 May 1989.

After scoring his first goal, Sancho took off his shirt to reveal a "Justice For George Floyd" T-shirt. Floyd died after being arrested by police outside a shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota on 25 May.

The England forward was booked for removing his Dortmund top.

His first goal came after a pass by Julian Brandt, while the former Manchester City youth player produced a smart finish following an assist by Hazard for his second.

Sancho's hat-trick, and his 17th Bundesliga goal of the season, arrived in the 91st minute after being played in down the right.

The win kept alive Dortmund's faint hopes of winning the Bundesliga title, Bayern Munich's lead at the top now seven points with five games remaining.

Paderborn remain rooted at the bottom, eight points behind Fortuna Dusseldorf, who are 16th in a relegation play-off place.

England and Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has been fined by the German league for getting a haircut in his home, in breach of the country’s restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho says it is an "absolute joke" he has been fined by the German football league after being pictured having a home haircut without wearing a mask.

England forward Sancho's team-mate Manuel Akanji has also been fined after they were deemed to have broken rules.

The league said the players had "obviously violated general hygiene and infection protection standards".

Sancho, 20, criticised the decision in a short Twitter post later on Friday.

Dortmund had defended the players, saying they had not breached the Bundesliga's health and safety rules.

German newspaper Bild posted the news on its Twitter account on Friday with the offending picture.

View more on Twitter
On Thursday, Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc said the group of six players had assured the club that they had followed safety guidelines and the masks were only taken off for the photograph.

But the league (DFL) decided to take action against Sancho and Akanji after they were pictured without personal protective equipment.

"There is no question that professional footballers also have to have their hair cut," added the DFL.

"However, this currently has to be done in accordance with the medical-organisational concept."

Jadon Sancho has been warned he needs to "grow up" by Borussia Dortmund team-mate Emre Can after being fined for getting a haircut in his home, in breach of Germany's coronavirus restrictions.

The 20-year-old Manchester United target and his team-mate Manuel Akanji were fined by the German league after photos emerged of them having a trim in their own respective homes, with neither the players nor the hairdresser wearing any personal protective equipment (PPE) in the pictures.

Sancho issued his response on Twitter after the fine was confirmed saying: "Absolute joke DFL!"

Can has grown close to Sancho since joining Dortmund from Juventus in January and he believes the England international needs guidance off the pitch in order to enable him to make smarter decisions.

"Jadon needs a little guidance. He's a great boy, also off the pitch. It's true that I get along very well with him," Can told Sky Germany, after scoring the winner in Dortmund's 1-0 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

"He just has to be a little bit smarter about these things. Everyone needs a hairdresser. He needs to grow up. He can't afford to make mistakes like that in the future.

"We as a team are also responsible. We are not annoyed by him. We know that he has to be more disciplined in some things. But he knows that too.

"I don't think he does this on purpose to create a scandal. Maybe he doesn't realise it, maybe he trusts too many people in some things.

"He needs people to guide him. That's where the environment is very important."

Earlier this season, Sancho was dropped and fined by Dortmund after reportedly returning back late from international duty with England.

Two seasons ago, Sancho was dropped to the Under 23s after repeatedly arriving late for training.

In March 2018, Sancho was dropped to the bench for an England U19 game against Latvia, along with Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden, after the pair arrived late for training.

Jadon Sancho: Man Utd will not get cut-price deal for Dortmund winger

Manchester United will not get Jadon Sancho in a cut-price deal from Borussia Dortmund despite the financial impact of Covid-19.

United have made the 20-year-old England forward one of their major targets when the transfer window opens on 27 July.

It was initially thought Dortmund, who are in the process of completing the signing of Jude Bellingham from Birmingham after the 17-year-old opted to sign for the Bundesliga side despite United's interest, wanted in excess of £100m for Sancho.

However, in April United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward said the Old Trafford club "were not immune" from the financial impact caused by matches having to be played behind closed doors and the rebates required to be paid back to broadcasters.

Although sources have rejected reports they had put a £50m ceiling on Sancho, Woodward's statement was taken to mean United would have less to spend on new players.

However, even though Dortmund have experienced the same problems, BBC Sport understands the German side are resolute in their desire to stick by their valuation for Sancho, which has been communicated to senior figures at Old Trafford, and they are not interested in increasing the number of add-ons to lower the central figure.

Sancho's current £190,000-a-week contract runs to 2022, which Dortmund believe puts them in a position of strength.

Unlike Dortmund, United are still to secure a place in next season's Champions League. Aside from up to £100m in income from the competition, missing out for a second successive year would cost them £22.5m as a penalty clause written into their 10-year deal with shirt suppliers Adidas.

The sum would be spread over the remaining five years of the £750m contract.

This all adds to the uncertainty over what budget manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have this summer.

If United fail to overhaul either Chelsea or Leicester for a top-four slot in the Premier League, they could still qualify for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.

However, the final of that competition will not be played until 21 August, just over six weeks before the international transfer window closes on 5 October.

Do you need Sancho when you have Mason Greendwood? Greenwood is an amazing talent.

Mason Greenwood is almost a clone of Robin Van Persie-he has that much potential bt hia best position is as the no9.

Sancho is an electrifying player but he is better used out wide as part of a front 3.

England have another golden geberation forming, having won the youth world cup:

Jadon Sancho
Phil Foden
Rhian Brewster
Reece James
HudsonAdoi
Mason Mount
Reiss Nelson
Skipp

Etc.

Not to mention that likes of Sterling, Kane, Rashford et al. Are not too old either.

Manchester United reportedly have a deadline of two weeks to complete the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

The Red Devils secured their place in next season's Champions League after a 2-0 win at Leicester on Sunday.

That qualification was always considered pivotal to their hopes of signing the Borussia Dortmund forward.

And now that their transfer budget is in place, United will up their efforts to bring in the 20-year-old.

A report from Bild claims that the Old Trafford club will increase their initial €98 million bid for Sancho. The German giants are wanting closer to €120 million.

The player himself favours a return to his homeland but the report adds that the deal must get done within the next fortnight.

Bild states that if Sancho is still with Dortmund when they go to their Swiss pre-season camp on Monday, 10 August then he will not be sold.

That will put immense pressure on United transfer chief executive officer Ed Woodward, who is also working on other targets.

But Sancho has always been United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's top target, so it would be no surprise if they broke off other business - if a deadline exists.

Manchester United increasingly confident deal to sign Jadon Sancho can be done as talks continue with Borussia Dortmund

Both Chelsea and Man U are spending big money to bolster their squad. Next year's PL will be very exciting and all of the Top 4 will be the title contenders.

Pogba, Fernandes, and Sancho will be lethal. Even though Martial got a lot of goals in the 2nd half of the season, I just don't feel he is good enough for a club like Man U.

Sancho , Pau Torres, van de beek.
Minimum requirement, will cost 160m
Need to move on Mata , lingard, Jones, rojo and we can afford another player with that, maybe a young striker or cdm like partey

Then we should be good to go

The biggest transfer MU can make, is to get rid of Sanchez first, free those wages and so much more could happen - people dont realise how poisonous Mourihnos era was and what Ole had to take over with, over paid mediocre players, hes done wonders by removing the deadwood, making the right signings and turning around careers of many players.

Manchester United's chances of signing Jadon Sancho are fading, according to reports surfacing in Germany.

United have submitted an initial bid for the England man, believed to be €75 million - an offer Borussia Dortmund have snubbed.

As such, it's reported BVB will not lower their €120 million asking price for Sancho. If the price isn't met, their stance is that Sancho stays.

As such, Kicker claims United have been set a deadline of August 10 to meet the asking price. Again, if they don't, the deal will be off.

It's reported that Dortmund are not in a hurry to offload the star. Even amid a global economic downturn, BVB are adamant there will be no discount.

All of this presents something of a problem for United.

Club chiefs believe they have agreed terms with the player, but Dortmund's refusal not to be bullied may see the deal collapse.

Furthermore, Kicker makes the extraordinary claim that Sancho himself is having second thoughts about United.

They state the England man doubts the Red Devils' immediate potential to win trophies. In addition, they suggest Sancho may actually prefer a move to Liverpool. It's stated Sancho feels they are in a much better position to challenge for major honours.

Jurgen Klopp has admitted his admiration for Sancho before.

"A red jersey would look very good on Jadon Sancho," the manager said at a BILD event. "But I don't think such a transfer will take place this summer.

"He is a very interesting player. If he moved to Liverpool, I would be the most surprised of all."

Furthermore, Liverpool are adamant they won't spend big this summer. Both Klopp and club chairman Tom Werner have made it clear Liverpool will have limited finances this summer. A marquee signing, therefore, is not on the agenda.

Borussia Dortmund have set a 10 August deadline to agree a deal for forward Jadon Sancho - who is Manchester United's top summer transfer target - to leave the club.

The German club have told United they want in excess of £100m for the 20-year-old England winger.

There is no agreement yet on a fee, which would be paid in instalments.

Dortmund have set the deadline because they want undisturbed preparation for the 2020-21 Bundesliga season.

The new campaign starts on 18 September, with the transfer deadline for international deals on 5 October.

Sancho has been at Dortmund for three years, having signed from Manchester City in August 2017 for a fee of about £10m.

In July, Dortmund beat United to the signing of 17-year-old English midfielder Jude Bellingham from Birmingham City in a deal that could be worth over £30m.

They also bought Norway forward Erling Braut Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg earlier in the season - another player United tried hard to bring to Old Trafford.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53637236

I reckon the deal is done now but they wont announce it till friday, this seems to be the Ole way, announce players on the same date as the shirt number they wear. friday the 7th, it shall be.

Manchester United are close to agreeing personal terms in principle on a five-year contract with Jadon Sancho.

Borussia Dortmund have named forward Jadon Sancho in their squad for this week's training camp in Switzerland.

It comes on the day of the deadline set by Dortmund for any deal to be agreed for the England international, who is Manchester United's top summer target.

The Bundesliga side want about £100m for Sancho, who they signed from Manchester City for £10m in 2017.

Sancho, 20, and England Under-17 midfielder Jude Bellingham are among 31 players to travel to Bad Ragaz.

Bellingham, 17, joined Dortmund from Championship side Birmingham City in July.

Dortmund have two matches during their training camp, against Austrian side SCR Altach on Wednesday and Austria Vienna on Sunday.

They set the deadline for Sancho, who is under contract with them until 2022, because they want undisturbed preparation for the 2020-21 Bundesliga season.

The new campaign starts on 18 September, with the transfer deadline for international deals on 5 October.

Jadon Sancho to stay at Borussia Dortmund, sporting director says 'decision is final'

England forward Jadon Sancho will remain a Borussia Dortmund player next season, says the club's sporting director Michael Zorc.

The 20-year-old has been named in the Bundesliga club's squad for this week's training camp in Switzerland.

It comes on the day of the deadline set by Dortmund for any deal to be agreed for Sancho, who is Manchester United's top summer target.

"We plan on having Jadon Sancho in our team this season," said Zorc.

"The decision is final. I think that answers all our questions.

"Last summer we adjusted Jadon's salary to match the development of his performances. So in context, we had already extended his contract until 2023 back then."

Dortmund want about £100m for Sancho, who they signed from Manchester City for £10m in 2017.

Sancho and England Under-17 midfielder Jude Bellingham are among 31 players to travel to Bad Ragaz.

Bellingham, 17, joined Dortmund from Championship side Birmingham City in July.

Dortmund have two matches during their training camp, against Austrian sides SCR Altach on Wednesday and Austria Vienna on Sunday.

They set the deadline for Sancho, who is under contract with them until 2022, because they want undisturbed preparation for the 2020-21 Bundesliga season.

The new campaign starts on 18 September, with the transfer deadline for international deals on 5 October.

SANCHO SPEAKS!

Jadon Sancho has made his first appearance for Borussia Dortmund since his move to Manchester United stalled. He played 45 minutes in a 6-0 win over SCR Altach and spoke to Sky in Germany.

He said: "I love playing with this lot. It is a special bunch. We've got some special young players coming up. I am really happy to share the pitch with them and guide them. I was once in their shoes, playing with the seniors. I am happy for them."

Jadon Sancho: Manchester United break impasse in potential deal for Borussia Dortmund winger

Manchester United have made progress in their efforts to sign England winger Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

The club have broken an impasse by agreeing a deal over wages and agents' fee around any move that could materialise for their main target.

But there is still no guarantee of an agreement between the clubs before transfer deadline day on 5 October.

Sources close to Dortmund are adamant the club will not alter their demand for a fee in excess of £100m.

It had been suggested they needed to sell the 20-year-old, and would soften their approach as deadline day neared.

And United have indicated they would be willing to pursue alternative targets if Dortmund did reduce their demands.

Last week the Red Devils signed Netherlands midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax for £35m.

Meanwhile, sources say fans will discover the full extent of the impact the pandemic has had at Old Trafford when the club releases its 2019-20 financial statement later this month.

It covers a period including the first three months of the coronavirus lockdown.

Jadon Sancho: Manchester United make breakthrough in negotiations

Manchester United have made a breakthrough in their efforts to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Dharmesh Sheth told The Transfer Show.

United are not giving up on trying to sign Sancho - who is valued at £108m - despite Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insisting the 20-year-old winger will not be sold in this window.

However, despite the Bundesliga club's stance, during the last 24 hours progress has been made between United and Sancho's representatives on the issues of agent fees and personal terms.

"I've been speaking to somebody close to a potential deal involving Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and in the past 24 hours there have been developments and potentially good news for Manchester United fans, because the issues of agent fees and personal terms, I've been told, are no longer a problem," Sky Sports News reporter Sheth said.

"Manchester United are remaining tight-lipped on these developments but it's clear that some good progress has been made on overcoming the problems of agent fees and wages.

"We understand that United remain very resolute and determined to not overpay for a player given the realities of the coronavirus pandemic, but given that this was the issue for the past two or three weeks that Manchester United weren't making a bid because they needed to sort out agent fees and personal terms for Jadon Sancho, this appears to be some sort of a breakthrough.

"It's our understanding now that the agent fees and the personal terms are not going to be a problem anymore."

Jadon Sancho: Man Utd target staying at Borussia Dortmund one more year, says Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus has told Sky Germany that Jadon Sancho is staying at the club for one more year.

Manchester United have not given up on trying to sign the 20-year-old England international, despite missing the August 10 deadline the Bundesliga club set for the deal to be completed.

The Dortmund hierarchy have stated on several occasions - before and after the deadline - that if it was not met Sancho would remain at the club, but rumblings have continued over United submitting a bid before the transfer window closes on October 5.

But a move to Old Trafford now seems extremely unlikely in the next few days following comments by the Dortmund skipper.

Asked if Sancho had made the right call to stay and had the potential to be as good as Cristiano Ronaldo, Reus told Sky Germany: "For us players that was great news.

"We all were happy that he will be with us for one more year because he delivers assists and goals, so we get points.

"If he gets as big as (Lionel) Messi or Ronaldo, we will see. He needs time, experience and it will be important how he manages the times when things don't go so well. But he has the confidence and the quality."

United made a breakthrough in negotiations with Sancho's representatives earlier this month, with wages and agents fees no longer thought to be an issue for the Premier League club, but on September 23 Dharmesh Sheth told The Transfer Show that Dortmund had been left "bemused" by United's attempts to sign him.

United's only signing of the window so far has been central midfielder Donny van de Beek from Ajax, but manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has suggested the club are still hoping to do more business.

Man Utd will seal Jadon Sancho transfer before deadline day, predicts Jamie Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp has told Pitch to Post he is convinced Manchester United will land their No1 transfer target Jadon Sancho by the end of deadline day, but why is he key and where else must they strengthen?

United had a £91m bid for Sancho turned down by Borussia Dortmund this week and are in talks about a loan signing for Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele.

However, Sky Sports pundit Redknapp is confident United - who face Tottenham on Sky Sports at 4.30pm on Sunday - will eventually convince Dortmund to cash in on England international Sancho, ahead of the transfer window closing at 11pm on Monday.

"It hasn't gone through yet but I think it will," Redknapp told the Pitch to Post preview podcast.

"You see certain transfers and it is ebbing that way. There's a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, and when Manchester United call, or any big club, there's always a premium on players.

"Dortmund want to get as much as they can for someone like Jadon Sancho. I get that. But I think he'll be a Manchester United player by the end of the window."

United have focused their attentions on Sancho during this window, and Redknapp says adding competition to the frontline could be just what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side need if they are to achieve success this season. While defending champions Liverpool have a clear front three to their attack, there are merits to having players fight for positions too, says Redknapp.

He also believes United should move swiftly to prevent other European heavyweights making a move for Sancho in the future.

"I personally think if they didn't sign Sancho in this window it wouldn't be the end of the world but if you can get him, of course you want quality around you," he said.

"The beauty of Liverpool is the simplicity of every week, when everything's right, you know what the front three is going to be: Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah. It's easy for the manager to a certain extent.

"But at United, if you don't bring another player in because you've got Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford… Solskjaer obviously feels that one of them isn't quite right and he wants to bring in a player to maybe add some competition.

"If he felt he had the front three and didn't need Sancho he wouldn't even be looking for him. But he's a game changer.

"If you don't sign him now who knows, he might end up going to Barcelona and you end up kicking yourself. I'm sure everyone would want him.

"There are times when you've got to pay up and go and buy a player, a big player. I know it's a lot of money but it's only in relation to when they signed Wayne Rooney, who was the best young player in the country, maybe one of the best in the world at the time. You had to pay top dollar for him and when you want to buy the best young players the premium is so high.

"But if you feel he's going to make the difference for you, you've got to go and get him. It's as simple as that. If that means upsetting a Martial or someone like that, well unlucky.

"Competition, at times, is what you need."

Dortmund playing a blinder.

£91m for Sancho... for that price he should already be as good as Ronaldo and Messi.

Jadon Sancho: Borussia Dortmund say door closed on any Man Utd deal for forward

Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc insists Jadon Sancho's move to Manchester United during the current transfer window will not happen.

"The door is closed, I have said this 27 times!", Zorc told reporters on Saturday.

It is a view shared by the rest of Dortmund's hierarchy, head coach Lucien Favre, the club's players, and fans in the North Rhine-Westphalia city.

Club captain Marco Reus has expressed his delight that his attacking team-mate is remaining at Signal Iduna Park.

Other players have not been permitted to talk about Sancho to the media, but Thomas Meunier could not resist telling Sky Sports News: "Sancho is staying", while walking into the club's Brackel training centre.

A total of 11,000 fans were let into the stadium for Saturday's match against Freiburg, with Bundesliga clubs currently permitting a reduced number of supporters to return to stadia, its usual capacity is just over 81,300.

One Dortmund fan said: "I think he is definitely going to stay because there was a deadline and there is no option for a transfer anymore."

"I think he will stay this season, and the next year he will leave us," was another supporter's prediction on the Sancho saga.

Manchester United placed a £91.3m bid earlier this week, which was turned down by Dortmund.

The offer, which fell short of Dortmund's £108m asking price, was for an initial £73m, rising to up to £91.3m.

Sancho has not trained with Favre's squad since United tabled their bid because of an ongoing respiratory infection.

He missed the 4-0 victory over Freiburg and also sat out of the German Supercup final against Bayern Munich. The forward has tested negative for coronavirus.

Sancho has been United's No 1 target throughout the summer, with Donny van de Beek the only other arrival so far at Old Trafford, but the club missed Dortmund's August 10 deadline for the deal to be completed.

Prior to their late bid, United had made a breakthrough in negotiations with Sancho's representatives earlier in September, with wages and agents fees no longer thought to be an issue for the Premier League club, but on September 23 Dharmesh Sheth told The Transfer Show that Dortmund had been left "bemused" by United's attempts to sign him.

Gareth Southgate selected Sancho for England's upcoming Nations League games against Belgium and Denmark and a friendly against Wales, with the Three Lions squad due to meet up at St George's Park on October 5, which coincides with Transfer Deadline Day.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich are now seen as likelier destinations for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho next summer after Manchester United's failure to secure his signing.

England forward Jadon Sancho scored his first Bundesliga goal of the season to help Borussia Dortmund beat Wolfsburg.

The hosts took the lead through Manuel Akanji's header after the Switzerland defender connected with Sancho's corner.

They doubled the lead in stoppage time when Emre Can's clearance found Sancho, who slotted the ball past the keeper.

Dortmund move to fourth in the table on 25 points, six behind RB Leipzig who started the day at the top.

Sancho, 20, was Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's number one transfer target at the start of last summer.

He has six goals for club and country in 2020-21.

Wolfsburg slip to sixth after losing for the second time in three league matches.

Manchester United are reportedly set to resume talks to sign Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund would let England international Jadon Sancho leave the club for £87m, having previously demanded more than £100m for the midfielder. The 21-year-old has been linked with Liverpool and Manchester United.

If I am Jadon Sancho’s agent, I am advising him to not sign for United. The Norwegian fraud will ruin him. He should stay at Dortmund or move to another club for his own sake.

this will be a hard choice for sancho, super talented but how many clubs can actually fit him into thr first xi?

man city have phil foden to look after, like you said man utd are not the best choice, madrid n barca are after big named players but in massive debt. ath madrid play too defensive and he wont progress enough. Bayern have coeman and even gnarby playing thr. Inter are looking to offload some big players this summer due to debt, Juve have dybala and invested in chiesa and kulusevski.
Chelsea have invested in Ziyech - maybe they could get him if pulisic leaves.

PSG -french league wont improve him, realistically leaves liverpool to get him if they sell either salah/mane - i do believe one of these will go and sancho will sign for them

Sky Sports News has been told that "as it stands, United represents the most realistic destination" for Sancho.

A number of other clubs are interested.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem as United negotiated terms when they tried to sign Sancho last summer.
Borussia Dortmund are listening to offers for Sancho, but have not publicly named a price or set a deadline.

Only the devil's can be dumb enough to pay around £100 million for Sancho. They will get him if no one else is really interested as seems to be the case.

Varane started it himself, he also has a year left on his contract so he could be doing a Ramos and trying to get a better contract, but cant rule out him leaving, RM is a sinking ship.

u man utd fans dream too much - u read from a rumor newspaper- nothing came out his mouth - if he did - Madrid would have benched him, if Madrid are sinking ship - then why did alaba go thr? easily could have get into man city team

Newspapers link us to every player every window, because we are the biggest club in europe, its got nothing to do with the fans.

He is in the last year of his contract, Madrid did not bench him or drop him and he still refuses to sign the contract. This is what he said:

Speaking about his future, Varane added: ‘This is not the time to talk about my future, I am focused on the selection, on this Euro, it is normal and logical to ask the question and for my part it is normal and logical to focus on the upcoming deadlines

‘We are all human beings. We can think about it. As for my personal case, I am focused on the objectives that we have in the France team, it is not a subject that I will discuss every day in my room at Clairefontaine.

‘I am focused on my goal, and now is not the time to discuss it. If I have to talk about it, it will be directly with the people concerned.’

Does not sound like someone who wants to stay.

As for alaba, City was interested in him nor did they ever inquire about him, a player can not force another club to buy him.

Manchester United have been told it will cost them £81.5m to sign England winger Jadon Sancho, 21, from Borussia Dortmund. That deal would mean rivals Manchester City will pocket £11m in sell-on fees after helping to develop Sancho in their academy. (Mirror)

could be a master stroke from UTD, missed out last season , his price has dropped by about 30-40million and they have a more settled squad this season sancho can fit right into instead of heavy expectations of carrying the team etc.

Woodward not really one for masterstrokes, this one was because BVD were just being silly, clearly Sancho didnt want to play for them all season and now they have to sell at a discount, when we offered more then that last summer and they rejected.

I guess woodward is going to be typical woodward now again and try and bid this price down even further to £70m

Tbf the first line was sarcasm, no one else really wants him so Bvb have no choice but to drop the price.

Jadon Sancho: Manchester United have £67m bid for Borussia Dortmund winger rejected

Manchester United have had a £67m bid for England winger Jadon Sancho turned down by Borussia Dortmund.

The German club want about £77.5m for the 21-year-old, with an additional £4.25m bonus payment on top.

BBC Sport also understands that in addition to the fee not being high enough, United wanted to pay it over five years when Dortmund are only willing for it to extend to four.

United are now considering whether to revise their offer.

The Old Trafford club will be keen to avoid a repeat of 12 months ago, when they were given a fee by Dortmund for Sancho, then tried to reduce it believing the Bundesliga side would eventually sell for a lower price.

In the end, Dortmund refused to budge and Sancho remained where he was.

Asked on BBC Radio 5 Live if playing in Germany has contributed to his success on the pitch, Sancho said it has "definitely played a huge part".

He added: "The first two years were difficult with the language and all sorts but I have settled in really well and happily got my opportunity. I took it.

"Dortmund is a quiet city, it is easy to go to training and go home. The fans love football and that is a good thing. Not being close to my family is the only thing [I don't enjoy] but that is part of life.

"I don't really focus on the media, I just focus on myself and what I need to do on the pitch."

Dortmund have a gentleman's agreement with Sancho that they will allow him to leave the club if someone reaches their valuation before a certain point in the summer, which is likely to coincide with his expected return date from England duty at the European Championship.

Among their major young stars, including Erling Braut Haaland and Jude Bellingham, Sancho is the only one Dortmund are interested in selling this summer.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be keen to get the deal done, and has identified a right-sided attacking player as one of his priorities.

He feels there is not enough competition for places in that area of the field, a situation underlined by the fact he failed to make a substitution until extra time despite his side struggling in the Europa League final against Villarreal, which they eventually lost on penalties.
