Rough translation

Maulvi Sahib said that Jesus is not dead but has been uplifted.
A simple follower asked
“Was Jesus also a Baloch?”

Social media uproar at the moment - lets see how this goes now.

Make blasphemous statements but not in Pakistan. It's one of the worst countries for that sort of trolling. Even lawyers will beat you up or kill you for that in Pakistan.

Dislike her. This lady gets away with it all the time

My dad told me once how she had a very bad character reputation in the industry

na, marvi has a habiit of picking on people espeically the religious one. And she uses the women card when she wants

I dislike her like no tomorrow. Don't want her lynched but somebody just ban her twitter so that we don't have to see her baqwas.

That's offensive, you can't mock religious figures....she should apologize

Stupid comment but does not mean someone should kill her.

She should apologize immediately for the sake of her safety and that of her family. Very careless to be doing this sort of trolling when you know your country is so backward and regressive where trigger happy religious fanatics need an excuse to kill someone.

Is she the next Tasneema.

She should apologize because she made a stupid and offensive comment....everything else comes later

She doesn’t seem to be interested in that.

The tweet which is generating a lot of abuse, blasphemy allegations and threats. I don’t agree with any capital action against her but she should also have the common sense and courtesy to be respectful. She definitely knew what she was doing here.

I don’t understand what she meant. But going by the reaction here it’s something very offensive. Why would she write something like that on Twitter?

The extreme reaction to the tweet is why such tweets happen. Pakistan cannot stop themselves from rising to the bait. If the purpose of the tweet was to highlight intolerance in Pakistan towards other school of thoughts then it has succeeded.

She is a self proclaimed liberal, feminist, human rights activist, journalist, etc...

She often posts stuff that by pakistani society would be considered edgy or even provacative.

Essentially she was referring to enforced dissappearances of baloch people. But she used jesus as the analogy.

In pakistan you have a certain level of freedom of speach. Things that are off limits by law are mocking or critisizing religion as it comes under blasphemy laws. Comparing prophet jesus to a random person, is considered disrespectful as they are a prophet of god. Our indian friends will not understand as they make any person they consider great into a bhagwaan. But in islam forget god, even comparing a prophet is not acceptable.

Then something that is technically not off limits as it happens all of the time is criticism of the armed forces. Journalists and tv anchors do this but not directly, i.e. they use terms like "establishment". But everyone knows what they mean and army usually doesnt go after these, and it happens all of the time. Many anchors and politicians have made careers simply being anti establishment. So contrary to popular belief the army is heavily critisized and no one is targetted unless it is extremely anti national, against national interest, personal attacks that may aggitate particular people.

However, doing both in the same sentence takes a special effort lol. That is what this lady tried to do by the looks of it.

true. but army is not going to leave her now.

What school of thought would you recommend to counter such extreme thoughts?

Seems like a manufactured outrage by the establishment, since this is directed at them. My christian friend doesn't find it offensive and it's about Jesus, so why do muslims ?

Really irresponsible comment. What was she thinking?

She crossed a line.

Jesus/Isa (PBUH) is a prophet in Islam too.

Yet, many boys are named after the various prophets.

Christians are pretty liberal is calling people God too, for example Meryl Streep called Harvey Weinstein God.

Never liked her. She reminds of the traitors we have in our own country, always going against the national opinion and trying to shame the patriots with lectures on human rights.

Astaghfirullah ! Why she is mocking religious figures on internet? Just checked her profile on google, she is a vile women.

Marvi as usual doing her favourite past time which is trolling normal conservative Muslims in Pakistan. I stopped following her years ago because she is a hypocrite and incoherent. Nothing good comes from her mouth. Mamoo would like her. Im so glad she is now going to face the music. Sooner or later it was going to happen.

One can see why Pakistan is one of the worse country when it comes to religious extremism from this thread alone, most people want to ban a harmless dig at MillEstablishment. This is 21C, why Pakistani Muslims have to be such a cry baby?? - Everything is Blasphemy in that country

Religion is a political ideology(there founders were political people or they are used as political figures by their supporters), religion cannot be protection against criticism, that's against the freedom of religion and speech. If you cannot talk or criticize political establishment, what else is the purpose of Freedom of Speech ??

Internet is filled with satire against so call holly prophets, no body crys about it.

Naming someone the same name as someone else is not the same as comparing the actual people.

If your name is napa and i name my son napa, this doesnt mean my son has the same characteristics as his namesake.

Also in islam a name is just a name. You can be a muslim and be named anything that isnt against islam. You can name your child desk, chair window if you wanted too. Obviously traditional islamic names are preferred.

The name mohammad is just a name. The reverence is for the prophet mohammad not for the name mohammad.
