Some People here were posting Junaid khan old video on ABN Amro Cup 2008 when he was raw inexperience and a teenager and doesn't seems to be very impressive which was quite miss leading

here is the latest video of OCT 2010 Faysal bank T20
that will give u an exact idea about him
he is far better than the video of 2008

he now seems to be more mature and more impressive

when i saw his old video of ABM Amro cup 2008 here in pakpassion

i wasnt impressed with him

i thought its nothing but the typical hype given by the PP members
but after watching his performance in Faysal Bank T20 Cup
i was really impressed with him
he was bowling on tight lines and was very economical

he Didnt even let the most explosives players like nasir jamshed abdur razaq ahmad shehzad
to smack him allover the park

Speed is good, bowling action has room of improvement. His right arm drops down way too early before the ball is delivered thus giving batsman more time to look at the coming delivery and also makes a bit more predictable.
Ideally his right arm should obstruct the batsman's view for as long as possible to look at the ball, read the seam position and know the shinny side.

Being a left arm pacer He will naturally and definitely get more swing and will sharply bring the ball in if he gets closer to the stumps and get that elbow pivot going.

first of all I dont think he is tall enough to get good bounce...His action needs work....He falls away at the delivery stride....His right arm could be higher...he needs to be closer to the stumps....speed is probably 135-140....still better than sohail tanvir.....the biggest problem is that he has no experience....I would probably play him in the first match instead of akhter and see how he does...

he seems to be a tall boy
not short one like aizaz cheema
he seems to be 6 feet tall atleast

its not pretty but i think its okay.

but if u still it at around 4:13 or 4:14 in the vid against lahore it does look just slightly bent.

hope its just an illusion though.
 
pace = 136 - 142 kph

run up = very nice

action = delivering arm and right arm have too much gap . Also bends quickly so gets vulnerable to back problems , Also . If he bowls more closer to wickets and do not necessary bend he can work the ball to come in for right handers ...


Overall a Good attack bowler .

If we look at the pic taken from one of the videos, you clearly see its slightly bent but the wrong way. Could be hyper-extension, the same thing that Shoaib has.

I'm no expert, but it looks like he comes a bit too low at point of delivery?
 
He is young guys, and will now be over looked by Waqar! If he can make Riaz, Gul and also Amir into the bowlers they are today. I am sure he can mold Junaid into an exceptional talent also!!

Amir was a great talent of course but Waqar helped him and nurtured his talent!! He wasnt born with all the smarts (as a bowler) like he was with his talent. If anything Waqar has proven is to be a good bowling coach!!
 
no matter how gud he is but............AAMIR IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!and i am not impressed by his bowling.we r just thinking that every young left arm fast bowler will be like AAMIR BUT UNFORTUNATELY NOT!!!!!!
 
frankly his action looks dodgy to me ... i wont be surprised if he's reported ......


i advise him to wear full sleeves ala ajmal, Bhajji, Akhtar of old
 
Yikes, surely there is minor suspicion on his action and it will raise a few eyebrows if he becomes successful.
 
Isn't it likely that his action would have been already studied? He's played plenty of "A" tours. I get the feeling that if there was something wrong he would have been told or adjusted already?

It's the Pakistan domestic system. Many players get away with these kind of things until international level [Shabbir Ahmed] . I don't think this one's too serious though, looks like the thing Akhtar has with his arm.
 
I will have to watch him bowl to be able to say anything about his action. The two videos available at the moment, don't show much at all. It has to be slow motioned at the point of the delivery, from at least 3 different angles. From the looks of it so far though, it looks like a case of a bit of hyper extension.....rather then any straightening of the arm from a bent position at the point of the delivery, which would be considered chucking.

There does seem to be a kink in his action.

The last thing we need during the World Cup is controversy about the legality of the actions of our bowlers. If there is a problem, then we must question how a player with a suspect action can be picked for a showpiece event i.e. someone should be held accountable.
 
it will be sad if he gets done for his action he has played under 19 and pakistan a team his action should have been sorted if it has any kinks i wish him all the best i hope he has a good world cup and goes on from there
 
to give the guy the benefit of the doubt it is almost impossible to tell unless you have a few angles simultaneously.

from one angle u can never tell the difference between hyperextension or a kink. im pretty sure waqar would spot it if there was anything wrong.

him being quite low may be of benefit, make him skiddy, and make the bouncer more of a surprise ball.
 
Seems like a bit of hyperextention in his elbow- bit Akhter-esque.
 
problems with his action :-

- too much side inclination at delivering

- right hand instead of completing outward circle unlike akhtar ( almost perfect action ) is bended inward , I wonder if he is able to generate express pace with this technical fault .

- he seems to bend too much while delivering , he in this way will neutralize the high arm effect for bouncers .
 
he is wearing two long sleeve shirts but I can still see a clear bend of the arm. It might be okay but I think he will still be reported if he does well, because if an umpire or captain reports you, you are not allowed to bowl untill you are cleared.
 
the photo in the OP looks like it's bent backwards, aka slight hyperextension. the second photo posted could be anything depending on what view you're looking at.
 
should be ok he has played Pakistan A guys it shouldn't be a worry unless ICC are as unprofessional as PCB.

Not many bowlers could swing both ways. You have to wait and see what Junaid has got up his sleeves. We can't judge anyone after watching few deliverys via Youtube. Patience is the key.
 
guys please dont worry!! he'll be in the more then capable hands of shoaib and waqar to help him in his action and tweek if necessary.

People forget Amir couldn't swing it back into the right handers when he came in as well. Give him some time.

Haven't seen him bowl even half a proper ball with half decent camera quality and reaching conclusions about his action

Are you people stupid or something? Making an issue out of NOTHING! I would expect this from indians, but from pakistanis themselves...who I am sorry to say, have no clue about bowling from the looks of it.
That is a classic case of Hyperextension, the arm is as straight as it can be while bowling 85-90miles an hour. I'll repeat myself again, it's only a chuck if the elbow/arm straightens from a bent position. If the elbow is straight to begin with and only bent back because of the natural flexibility of the joints...there is NOTHING to be an issue here.

I just did some research on his action after reading the stupidity on this board by some very clueless posters, and from what I've seen so far now, it is hyper extension you see. Something you see in Shoaib Akhtar, and Malinga's action.....there is no chucking like Shabbir here.
So I'll humbly ask all these attention mongers to drop this topic at once, and STOP CREATING another issue for the young man to put even more pressure on him.....if some of the Indian or English news people anywhere in the world, reads this and exploit it to the fullest. It is very possible, seeing how popular pakpassion is now, around the world over.

Is it not enough for you that he's making his debut in the biggest tournament there is, in the game...against the best in the business? STOP THIS NOW! Thank you.

he should deliver the ball from closer to the stumps and not let his head fall. they should have taken him to UAE and NZ if there was even slightest chance of calling him into the WC squad. he is a good talent but WC is a big occassion hope afridi gives him some matches against kenya n zim, and not let him sit out in the camp like hammad azam in T20 WC

Its other way round you are allowed to bowl until your action is checked
 
I think he had played U-19 and toured with A-team several times. If his action is suspectable then it would have been reported till now.
 
i am really excited to see him in action.

all I can say is that he needs an extended run, as he is our best bowling prospect at this time.

You can never call anyone a 'best' prospect because a guy with a 50 bowling average could be that.

Sadaf Hussain could be our best prospect.
 
I don't see anything wrong from the videos/pictures people posted. It looks a bit like Akhtar's.

how do u know his speed is 136-142.. i hope he has speed over 140 which will be good for this kind of left hander bowler. i have not seen yet single delivery which he is bring back for right handers.. if has that develier then i wana tell u he will be a good bolwer pretty soon. if he can't bring back the ball then i don't think so he will go long way! for left handers, bringing back ball is now very important!

there is no problem with his action.. he push his wrist more which is 100% allowed in cricket.. you can play with your wrist but not elbow.

there is no problem with his action at all.
 
There is a slight kink in his action but I believe that if he has played in 'A' games and nothing has been said, it must mean he is OK.

I don't see anything wrong with his action, my arm doesn't look straight even when fully extended, I expect that he has the same issue. Doesn't look like elbow hyperextension to me though, if anything is appears as minor elbow flexion.

Edit: Judging by this image it definitely looks like flexion, not hyperextension, which would have his arm going the other way. Still, nothing to be concerned about.

It looks like he has a hyper extension in his arm, if there's any glaring chucker actions I'm sure Waqar will have a look at it. No need to stress and give the media something to look out for, folks.
 
If Junaid Khans action comes to be illegal or something, then i swear, PCB should kick out every stupid match refree and umpre they have in there board

I am surprised ppl here who questioning his action...I guess what they don't know the Junaid has been on A and U19 tours and if there is was anything he would have been reported. There is nothing wrong with his action. Tariq Mahmood was report at U19 level.
 
There is definetly a kink but not sure if it is as bad as people have made it. The thing is A matches do not get the coverage like WC. So many eyes will be on him. It will be interesting if he plays well opposition will sure to bring it up.

I have a question, Allah na kare If Junaid gets reported for his action, will ICC suspend him for rest of matches or he will be allowed to play ?

someone raised the issue that there may be a kink in his action, whats the big deal. no one said they stuck an protractor to his arm whilst bowling. no one is saying he definately chucks.

i dont get how ppl can think this will put pressure on him, if he has been playing as much as he has, he should be pretty sure his action is clean.

if the meaningless specualtion of some people (including myself) on the internet really bother him that much, that would be far more worrying than any slight kink in his action.

i personally think there may be a kink, but that me hyper extension, or camera angle or whatever, i cant say for certain.

i know pp is very influential but come on guys, get real.
 
can we delete this nonsense thread? his action is 100% clean and there is no need make issues ourself which are not existed!

he had played many matches with u19 and Pak A team if there was even litle bit something wrong with his action, he would have reported right away.. i have watched him here in WI, his action was way cleaner than many many other players current worldcup.

if somebody want to creat action threads then please create many threads on these people.

Murali-> the biggest chucker on the planet.. who cares if he he is cleared on political bases.
Bhaji -> when i bowled the first ball of his career i told my dad he is chucker, after few months later he got reporter, though cleared we all know how he cleared... many people don't wana speak.

Shaoib-> for me he chucks too from day one!.

Abdul razaq from Bangla: he chucks too

Botha: he chucks too

this kid's action is way way cleaner than all above..
 
and to think...this kid gets picked for national side...and must be reading every post on this thread wondering what he has done wrong...
but people with nothing better to do will nitpick at non existant things...hope he proves every one labelling him as a chucker wrong and very very wrong...

raising an issue to something that isnt even there...look at the front on view...you will see nothing bent about it...looks like hyper extension even by just looking at that
