Kagiso Rabada suspended for second Test against England after giving Ben Stokes a send-off

It's ridiculous to get a 1 match Test ban for swearing.

Give him a big fine and move on. Like Roberts has said cricket has become a game for sissies and pansies.

The ICC will kill off Test cricket for good with stupid pathetic rules like this.

Tbh I love it when other teams give it back to teams like England, Australia and to an extent India (especially players like Kohli). They love to dish it out but act like newlywed brides when they are in the receiving end. A clear class structure exists within the ICC and you are blind if you don't see it.

Hope Rabada comes out fired up in the second innings and blows England away.

You mean like the official ICC structure of the big three? Yeah no one could see that.

I remember Woakes giving Sharjeel a send off during the third ODI in the recent tour of England, wonder how many demerit points he got?

South Africa have been lacking discipline recently - silly run-outs, sloppy fielding, and their over rate has been awful.

Very un-South Africa like.

Poor decision.

Clearly heard Woakes abuse Sharjeel but no action taken.

Be fair otherwise it's a joke.

Remind me the last time Broad or Anderson were yelling expletives as abuse at the opposition?

It's not about when was the last time they did it, it's a culmination of the amount of times they have.

We all have eyes and ears mate.

Daddy dearest has been helping Broad Jr out for years.

Sky Sports just showed the previous incident for which Rabada picked up three demerit points. It's just a nudge to Dickwella in an ODI earlier this year and it didn't even look serious. Even the English commies are saying how ridiculous it is.

How many demerit points did Stokes receive for touching Tamim in the Champions Trophy when Tamim wanted nothing to do with him?

Ridiculous.

Sky just showed the Sri Lanka "incident" which led to him getting three demerit points. Gower, Atherton and Botham were all unanimous in saying it is laughable he picked up three demerit points for it.

Some really stupid comments... First people need to understand that just the fact that he swore hasn't gotten him suspended, there was in incident before as well, which was a bigger incident as he was given 3 points opposed to just 1 for what he did yesterday.

So what you want cricket to become a battlefield where after hitting a bowler for a 4 he should swear at him? There's a difference between aggression and abuse.

Have you seen the previous incident? There was nothing to it! Yet he received three de-merit points. Commentaters unaminously agree it is a ridiculously harsh decision & I agree.

Rod Tucker was the on-field umpire for that previous incident. Not surprising. I hate to use the R word but he is a suspect character.

One thing's for sure, Graeme Smith's counter-point is ridiculous - "If he hadn't been picked up by the stump mics then he wouldn't have been done" - that's like saying the kid who nicks sweets from the corner shop didn't do it unless the shopkeeper asks him to turn out his coat pockets.

If you can get banned for stuff like this than stokes should've been banned for at least a few tests in the last 2 years or so. The way he's swearing and pushing and shoving other players he should have twice as many demerit points as rabada.

Oh, how many matches has Chris officiated in which Stuart played in? Care to substantiate this accusation with evidence?

Quite funny that you ask for substantiation thru Evidence .... when large majority of your posts are all about stating opinions as though they were facts :))

Is there any footage of the physical contact incident?

Sanctions are decided by the match referee after consultation with both umpires and review of any available footage. The match referee who gave Rabada those demerit points was Richie Richardson...

Also remember what the great west indian fast bowler said a few days ago about cricket being a sissy game now

England's Ben Stokes has no issues with South Africa's Kagiso Rabada

England vice-captain Ben Stokes says there will be no "bad blood" between himself and South Africa's Kagiso Rabada in the third Test at the Oval, which begins on Thursday.

Pace bowler Rabada had to miss the second Test at Trent Bridge because of an ICC suspension triggered when he swore at Stokes, after dismissing him during the series opener at Lord's.

But Stokes, who has previously been reprimanded for his on-field behaviour, says Rabada's aggressive approach does not trouble him in the slightest.

"It is part of him as a cricketer and why he has been successful," Stokes told Sky Sports News.

"The ICC were the people who locked down on that and gave him that ban but I don't hold any grudges about people wanting to be like that.

"It shows how much they care and want to perform for their country. I have got that side to me as well, so I don't think there is ever going to be any bad blood if he chooses to go on like that."

Stokes is more concerned about the manner in which England slumped to a crushing defeat in the second Test, which levelled the four-Test series ahead of their Oval meeting.

England batting's approach was heavily criticised after the Trent Bridge defeat, in which they were bowled out for just 205 and 133, with some pundits suggesting the players lacked the desire to grind out Test runs.

Stokes, however, feels it was more a question of adapting too slowly to the match situation.

"It is a pretty easy thing to say when we have put in a performance like that with the bat," the all-rounder said.

"No one is ever going to get questioned in that changing room about their fight and desire of wanting to perform for England.

"I think the biggest question is just being able to adapt better. We obviously didn't quite get to grips with that in that last innings.

"So, I think the quicker we can learn to adapt to different situations, the better off we will be.

"It is 1-1, both games have been pretty one-sided, and we just need to make sure we come out here and put in a better performance than we did at Trent Bridge and get on the front foot in the series."

England have now had time to reflect on the disappointing defeat, and Durham all-rounder Stokes is optimistic that an improved display is on the way.

"You take good performances and bad performances in your stride," he said. "And I think it's all about how we come back in this Test, which will prove how good of a side we are.

"Obviously, it wasn't an ideal performance from us as a team and we know that.

"It's good that we managed to get time away and sort of look back and assess where we went wrong and hopefully we can right the wrongs this week."

Stokes also paid tribute to England's women's team, who won a thrilling World Cup final against India in front of a sold-out Lord's on Sunday.

"It's an amazing achievement for them to win a World Cup in England," he said.

"It proves just how far the game has come for them. The amount of people that watched, the amount of coverage it gets.

"I actually ended up watching a bit of the game as well and, being an Englishman myself, it's always good to see an English team lift the World Cup."
