PCB have just announced.

Men’s National Selection Committee: Haroon Rashid (Chair), Kamran Akmal, Mohammad Sami and Yasir Hameed

PCB Junior Selection Committee: Kamran Akmal (Chair), Tauseef Ahmed, Arshad Khan, Shahid Nazir and Shoaib Khan.
 
Whats the point if the Sethis of this world make the final call on who should or shouldnt be selected.

I have zero expectations from this new bunch.

He most certainly does. But it should be on merit. Even on merit, he is better than 8-9 cricketers who have been in the loop with Pakistan in the past 3-4 years

Well in theory it's probably a case of each of them will be given a region to be responsible for and to keep an eye on.
 
Can kamran akmal select himself? He has not officially retired.

Wahab riaz too can make a comeback.

Shouldn’t that the way it should work in our part of the world?

In India there are 5 selectors from each zone and the chief selector is rotated based on zone. One additional qualification chief selector needs is he need to play a certain number of tests/ODIs.

How difficult is it to implement that in multi-cultural/regional societies?
 
Need selectors who have minimal conflicts of interests.

Will the Akmal clan all be lining up now?
 
Kamran Akmal as a member of selection committee is a good addition. Watch some of his YouTube videos he talk sense ..he also understand modern day cricket. Kamran as a keeper was bad choice but he as a selector looks a decent decision
 
I can almost gaurentee Mohammad Sami and Yasir Hameed will have hardly any influence on the selection process

He was a cheater, was shady, made his brother fake an injury, had awful fitness, terrible attitude and incredibly entitled.

This is separate to his dropped catches and 20 run average with the bat.

Laughable that this guy is added to the setup.
 
PCB is a reflection of Pakistan the country. The country is ruled by crooks and we shouldn’t expect anything more from the PCB either
 
Apart from Haroon Rasheed and Tauseef Ahmed, everyone else represents fresh blood.

Is Shoaib Khan that same guy in 2008 who was accussed of being a parchi selection?

The circus of PDM had demonstrated within a week how incompetent tgey were,and now the new PCB doing their best to apethe government clowns. In both casescannot wait for return of older regimes but with better plans and teams.

Spot on, and this guy who always was criticizing selectors although made 20 comebacks and never could improve his keeping or fitness and his batting was figured out at international level

Tbh the only real poor selections by Wasim were the continuation of trio of KIA. Most players selected had made case to be selected. Cannot blame Wasim for wrong Team 11 selected on various casesby Babar.
 
I don't even know if Sami has been involved in domestic cricket recently.

Great that you felt awful when Pak was virtually unbeatable in home Tests (UAE).

Unlike you who want to be "entertained", I simply want Pak to win and become better. I don't have a particular name association with a player for whose hatred I am known for.

I am not optimistic about Haroon Rashid who selected Khurram Manzoor for t20is, Bilal Asif as an opener or brought Sami back for the umpteenth time only to do what he did throughout his career. Not mentioning taking just one spinner (on a decline) to Asia Cup and wt20

I am not optimistic about appointment of Kamran Akmal who has personal grudge against Babar and would probably do whatever it takes to get him to remove from captaincy (if captaincy is to be taken away from Babar, the decision should be taken in absence of Kamran)

I am not happy with the reason why we are focusing so less on ODIs and more on t20is when ODI wc is right around the corner.

I am not happy with Shan Masood being appointed the VC, when he hadn't played an ODI for over 2 years and is not even an automatic choice in the eleven.

I am not happy with how Pakistan has been playing test cricket with not respecting test cricket as such. No team plays its wicketkeeper at 4 or 5 like Pak did against Aus and SL and not giving respect to the no. 4 5 6 7 spot.

I am not happy with how the new guys are talking about PSL to be used as the benchmark for selection in all formats.

I am not happy with online coaching which sounds laughable even by PCB's standards.

I don't have a problem with Sharjeel getting picked since he's really worked on his fitness and has shown hunger to play international cricket again. If he performs in PSL, then sure he should be picked providing he takes some kind of oath of not engaging in spot fixing or other malicious activity.

On the other hand, your reason of being unhappy for Pak cricket for years has been
Rizwan plays too slow, Misbah tuk tuks, Babar doesn't hit sixes.

Professional organizations aren't run for the sake of entertainment unless they are film or music industries.
Pak doesn't have the tools or fire right now to go all ballistic and "win". That would require years of work at grassroot and domestic level. Pak cricket isn't run well enough or is organized enough or facilitated enough like ECB that just needs a week or two to change how they play.

There is no faster way to loose credibility than going to the Akmal brothers. Poor Pakistan can't seem to catch a break.

You can give me a comprehensive reply or a non serious one. It makes no difference to my understanding of the game and how I want to see this team.

1. Misbah’s UAE record as a Test captain is good, so that all of a sudden makes him perfect to be the most influential mind in Pakistan cricket??? Even if you do believe it, the results have shown that he has only dragged us back or hasn’t allowed us to advance at all. The fans of his mindset can harp on about how his critics “don’t really understand cricket”. The results are there for all to see.
+Misbah has created problems for Pakistan’s white ball side that will not be easily improved for at least another decade!

2. Kamran Akmal’s personal grudge with Babar is justified because 75% of Pakistan are sick of Babar’s strategies and his favouritism towards friends and those who protect him in his circle! Isn’t that clear to see? Also, Babar has been given a free hand when he truly never deserved one considering his low IQ and lack of personality! So kudos to Kamran for using that grudge to break that strangle hold Babar has on our progression!

3. Pakistan cricket may not have been ideal before the IK regime and the appointments in critical positions before Ik came into power. But the product was still competitive and the cricketers were still decent in comparison to the rubbish players that have been fed to us for the past 3 years since Mickey left!

-How is Rizwan continuesly allowed to con the nation as a T20 opener?!!
-How do our T20 superstar bowlers not be able to last more than one spell in Test cricket??
-How does Shadab Khan the tailender have enough influence to bat in the top 6??
-How does the mental midget Khushdil Shah get picked to play as a lower order hitter but thinks it’s ok to take 15 balls to get his eye in???
-How is Babar continuesly allowed to not do his job as a technical batsman and not bat at 3 in T20s???
-How does Shan Masood get a red carpet return into the T20i side by Muhammad Waseem Laptop selector??
-How does your best T20 player (Muhammad Harris) have to be brought in on an emergency basis into the squad when you have 3 anchors at the top who average 40+ in T20??? How is this professional management????

4. Cricket isn’t about entertainment according to you. Yes, it isn’t if you are paying £15 match subs to play cricket on Saturday yourself. Not when you are paying hundreds of pounds as a consumer who wants to watch the best athletes perform at the highest level. We pay money to be entertained as customers, that’s our only stake in this! Yes we would like to win more but not being so negative in our approach that we are playing ODI cricket in T20 and then telling the whole world that we have a unique brand of playing the sport! The truth is, you don’t! You are not even trying to play the game correctly with two anchors opening your T20 side for crying out loud!

You will keep hearing this from me again and again! I don’t care how you nerdy fans of the game view this sport. I am a sportsman and I have the heart of Ben Stokes and Virat Kohli. Play this sport with the right attitude and not the rubbish that has been served up to us since Misbah got a hold of us!!
 
Does this now mean that soon Babar Azam will no longer captain white ball matches? (that was the statement K Akmal had given before)
 
Arguably the worst selection team that could have been pulled together.

We need selectors with bold vision, not frustrated ex players with low IQ.

Everyone of that list had ignominious end to their career and were booted into the scrap heap. They showed their IQ during their playing days.

I wouldn't even let them select the radio station in my car when I'm driving.

Kami knows modern cricket. Yasir and Sami, no idea if they’re involved with domestic cricket but I’m guessing they must be.

Also, [MENTION=2016]Rana[/MENTION], you might not like it but Misbah is the best cricketing brain in the country. Also Pakistan’s most successful Test captain, definitely a hall of famer.

We needed him to revive our Test fortunes again, but sadly we’re gonna have to wait.

What does Kami know about modern cricket?

Just because he has played in the modern era doesn't mean he is knowledgeable about the game.

I haven’t once criticised Misbah’s Test achievements or Test strategy

I could care less. But his influence in white ball cricket has been detrimental

Kami himself had a good range of shots, some real clutch knocks. For starters he should bring back Umar Akmal and I’ll start supporting Kami as the selector.

From his interviews one can guess that he knows it’s an era of strike rates.

Fair enough. Your a good guy. For your sake I will tone down on Misbah criticism here because I don’t want to indirectly hurt your sentiments.

But I can’t forgive him for what he did to Sarfaraz and how he gave us the Problem of Rizwan
 
This must be a joke right? Kamran Akmal, Yasir Hameed and Mohammed Sami were each rubbish horror show cricketers. But worse than that, none of them were great minds or even remotely visionary. They were just extremely poor all round. The selection panel requires creativity and a certain degree of nous, which all three lack.

Sethi’s decision making displays a total lack of understanding of Pakistani cricket.
 
You have to listen to Kami and Yasir on TV to understand the lack of vision and tactics they posses. They never have anything creative to say, and Kami just rants and presents his own case indirectly and directly all the time. Yasir and Sami maybe good chippies but I doubt they are capable for the roles given to them.

I’m going to be watching these squad announcements through covered hands. I fully expect returns for Ahmed Shehzad, Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal. I guess this is what a time warp feels like.

Agree with everything, but at this point i think i'm questioning Sethi's intentions more than his understanding.

Sethi has made a number of very questionable decisions and favours seem to being bestowed onto certain people rather than those who are most qualified for the job.
 
Am sure i came across kamran akmal doing a you tube show , probably has his channel....will he continue or discontinue his online presence now that he is part of selection commitee
