Karachi Kings 2018 Squad and Discussion Thread

Tymal Mills would be an ideal replacement but they need a replacement for Usman Khan.

Mills is very overrated.

Karachi is still a great contender with Amir and Imad in side even though Johnson pulled out and Usman injured.

Liam Plunkett! If it were to me I would have had Liam Plunkett over Johnson in the first stage, He is one of the best LOI fast bowlers around and can hit the ball miles.

They need two replacements (Shinwari, Johnson). Sadaf Hussain for shinwari please :sadaf

Shinwari might be fit by PSL, he suffered just one stress fracture this time around in comparison to 3 earlier in his career. These are rumors at the moment but he is training really hard.

That's a sad loss to KK. There is a replacement draft at the end of January so KK should pick on of my choices below

1) Tymal Mills
2) Wayne Parnell
3) Steven Finn

Why not Liam Plunkett?

Timing and schedule of the PSL isn't great. It's so close to the IPL. Not many top overseas players will want to risk playing in PSL to prevent getting injured and missing IPL.

Expect more drop outs in the future like MJ.

how do u know?

Don't know about how soon he will return but he is training a lot.

so it looks that it would not take much time but match fitness will require sometime.

Stress fractures do effect a bowlers performance even though they might be fully "healed" - being a doctor you probably already knew that.

We have to see if Shinwari can regain his form when back from injury.

Karachi have a seriously over rated squad. Usman's and Johnson's exclusion is going to hurt them real bad.

Not played a single T20 game in his life, we cannot justify this selection (in any way whatsoever).

Not the poor guy's fault that he haven't played a T20 yet, they don't even select him for Pakistan Cup. A guy with 19 LA average can surely perform well in T20's. He can extract some considerable bouce & swing under lights in UAE.

I suppose this is the new KK kit.

Kings listened me replaced Jhonson with Tymal Mills. Very good pick indeed. Remember this guy was the most expensive buy in last PSL. With Archer and Hastings in Quetta and Mills in Kings this PSL gonna be great to watch!

Why are the Karachi Kings taking credit for Babars LOI knock? Do they own copyrights to everything he does from now on? Do the franchises of other leagues take credit for all of their players performances?

Whats next? KK taking credit for every successful bowel movement of Babar ?

Before going on a rant.... atleast should have checked whether they are taking credit or not.

They are just congratulating him for his performance and they do not need permission from anyone to do so, let alone anonymous posters on an online forum.

Nobody said anything about permission. I just gave my opinion on an online forum whose whole point of existence is so that one can express their opinions and where almost everyone including you is anonymous too so I don't really get the point of bringing that up.

Also to me they are taking credit because they said yeh hai King ki performance as if they had any role in his training and development as a player, he just shows up once a year to hit some balls for them.

Its not only Kings but all franchises are promoting/highlighting their contracted players performances. We should not mind these and in fact its good for the competition :)

Tymal Mills is so overrated, has been going for close to 10 runs an over on the majority of his BBL matches :)

So they're changing up the team jersey?

Looks good!

Wish Lahore would go back to the Black and Red :(

Kings are a good team, very strong squad of local lads and decent foreigners too. In my opinion Kings should play final of PSL.

I’m a Karachi Kings Fan
But don’t think they have the ability to make the finals
Have lost a lot of key players

Ingram, Mills, Morgan, Denly, Simmons, Weise and Bopara are still good players to win PSL. Remember they have the help of the strongest local players like Afridi, Aamir, Babar, Immad, Shinwari etc.

Morgan has limited availability, Mills is overrated, Wiese and Bopara are average all rounders
They had the strongest depth and most experienced squad but not anymore
Shinwari Injured so he won’t be available for the whole tournament
Imad is relatively rubbish
Afridi and Amir are inconsistent (but definitely match winners)

They will get into the last 4, but don’t have the ability to go all the way

‘Karachi’s international players ready to visit Pakistan for PSL3’

KARACHI: Pakistan Super League franchise Karachi Kings’ owner Salman Iqbal on Thursday revealed that six out of seven international players in his team are ready to visit Lahore and Karachi for the eliminators and the final, respectively.

Iqbal — speaking at the kit unveiling and official song launch ceremony — said that, except England’s limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan, all players have given them a green signal.

“Six out of seven players are ready to come and play in Pakistan except Morgan who has other commitments. He will join us late and leave early,” saidIqbal. “This is good news for all of us that players have agreed to play in Pakistan and we hope the security situation stays like this till that time.”

He further added that nearly all players from other franchises are ready to travel for Pakistan for the last three matches. “Some of them haven’t agreed yet but hopefully they will also agree soon,” he said.

On new captain Imad Wasim

Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim was announced as the captain of the Kings for the third edition and Iqbal explained the reason behind his appointment.

“In the last two seasons, there has been a fluctuation in captains and now the management has decided that there should be a young captain who can stay with us for a longer period and can prove to be helpful, not only for us but for the national team too,” said Iqbal.

He continued by praising Imad further: “Imad is young and is in form too so we expect him to stay with us for a long period,” he said.

Babar and Imad in Biz class and Sir Don Khurram Manzoor in Economy? That's pure discrimination :)

Karachi schooled Lahore.

Three wins from three - they've shown excellent tactical nous and look vastly improved.

KK are looking dangerous so far. They seem to be pretty motivated as well this time around, that's why they perform under pressure. Imad has been good as captain, bowlers are also performing well but batting concerns are there. Still looks the best team so far surprisingly.

Karachi have been tremendous so far. I feel that's more down to there bowling rather than batting. I mean Denly has got starts but nothing else. Babar so far has been inconsistent but Karachi have just played 3 games. Ingram looks to be a real buy for Karachi, he's been good, would love to see what he can bring to this tournament. Bopara had a good game against Lahore, would be interesting to see if he continues that, Rizwan has been good behind the gloves but batting needs certain tweaks. Afridi is well...... Afridi and Imad Wasim is also hit & miss. Khurram Manzoor however is very much hit & miss and most times but would be ideal to see him out of the team. The bowling attack is fine and good really.

I'm still not convinced about their batting.

When both Amir and Shinwari are available, they can bench Mills and play Simmons instead of Manzoor. The batting looks a bit better when he's out of the picture...

Not sure when Morgan will be available. When he's there, Ingram can open with Simmons/Denly and Morgan can slot in at #4.

Morgan will be avaliable once England ODI series with NZ is over. Do you know if Colin Munro will be avaliable or not?

What a moment it is going to be (for obvious reasons) when Islamabad beats Karachi. :junaid:misbah

Babar Azam and Khurram Manzoor's partnership hurt Karachi more than it did good. They needed some acceleration and instead they got some dots and singles. They needed to turn it up and get a good score like 170-180 especially if you see the way Islamabad are batting right now.

Babar Azam and Khurram Manzoor partnership - 101 off 82 balls

versus

Luke Ronchi and JP Duminy partnership - 104 off 65 balls

Can't stand Karachi. Glad this type of performance has come against them.

Why?

Anyway, the performance wasn't anything extraordinary which is why it was a poor match to watch. First we batted too slowly with wickets in hand, then the bowling was rubbish with too many gifts on the pads.
