Karachi Kings 2018 Squad and Discussion Thread

Im a fan of mickey, he has proved me wrong on many occasion, but something he still gets wrong is spinners. He undervalues them way to much and has come un done by not selecting them, both with KK and the National team

  • you have worst chance of win when both Khurram Manzoor and Babar Azam score runs
  • you have an average chance of win when either Khurram Manzoor or Babar Azam score runs but not both
  • you have great chance of win when both Khurram Manzoor or Babar Azam fail to score runs

Khurram and Babar both played selfish knocks. Not sure what they will get with mediocre 50s. Analysts look beyond just a scoresheet now.

The same applies to all the other teams also. All have passionate and borderline annoying fanbases.

I dislike the media hype as well, can't stand the nonsense on TV. But again, each team has a media partner and the hype is their way of marketing to get more people interested. It's a necessary evil.

Well other franchises fanbases don't annoy me.

Lahore and Karachi are the 2 teams who receive the most hype from the media.

because Karachi and Lahore are also supported by the 2 biggest media houses of Pakistan (ARY and Geo respectively)

It was disgraceful to watch both Khurrum and Babar celebrating their 50s :facepalm:. If I was KK's coach I would have given jhanpur to each of them when they came back to dugout.

I still believe that it wasn´t perhaps the easiest pitch to bat on, and I can bet my arm on it that had Karachi been able to dismiss Ronchi early, Islamabad would´ve got nowhere near the total. But despite that, I think Babar Azam and Khurram Manzoor took too long in waking up. Both of them had been batting at a strike-rate around or below 100 even each had faced around 25-30 balls. Some urgency should´ve been shown by both with nine wickets in hand. A poorly paced partnership if I may say.

Ronchi was awesome! Perhaps the best innings of the tournament so far.
 
Shahid Afridi is back in Dubai and has joined the squad.

Shahid Afridi has gone through his routine MRI scan for his niggle in the leg. It is an ongoing process. His report will come tomorrow. Please avoid jumping to conclusions and follow the official updates pls.
 
Update:

Karachi Kings management have announced that Shahid Afridi is fit to play/available for selection

Although an an Afridi fan I wish against it, but I cannot see Karachi recovering from a hammering like this. Well and truly the most awful phainta (as opposed to phainty) for any team this PSL and one of the worst bowling and fielding show ever in the PSL history. What happened to their fielders yesterday? As they say in Punjabi, bilkul pounthal gaye sann!

But to be honest, I feel for the Karachi bowlers and fielders because at one point I as a viewer got exhausted of the hammering and felt as if I needed a break. Just unbelievable batting!

thats a huge blow to Karachi Kings; I was expecting KK to have Simmons and Denly as openers; now KK have to play Khurrum Manzoor as an opener instead of Simmons :facepalm:

I dont think so. Its about continuing to be part of PSL in future. He knows that PSL is slowly moving to Pakistan and so PSL teams will not select players anymore who are not willing to come to Pakistan to play. He wants to be part of PSL and so it is in hist best interest to show to PSL teams that he is willing to come to Pakistan to play.
 
A youngster from Karachi (name has not been revealed, as of yet) has joined the squad in Lahore as cover for an injured Pakistani player (who also not been named as of yet, but I’m guessing it’s Afridi).

Finally Mukhtar!

A blistering knock of 30+ here can be a career-changing one.

I can see him starting tomorrow over Khurram. I think Salman Iqbal has used Afridi and Imad's injury very slyly by also adding a replacement for the rubbish Khurram. Really hope I'm right here.

Zulfi is a bad replacement, but not too many options given the circumstances. Hopefully Usama Mir replaces Afridi, and Zulfi only plays if Imad still cannot make it.

Danish is another good pick, although I don't see a point in adding him. Good experience nonetheless.

Danish is smart move because irfan junoir is emerging player and he has been rubbish in last few matches so they can add danish as a emerging player with his batting plus also left arm spin which he bowls so karachi will cover there much needed left arm spinner bowler in bowling
I think they will drop khurram for mukhtar and irfan junior for danish aziz and afridi for usama mir or imad

YEs Danish can bowl and bat so he is good as an emerging player.

So Amir will captain Karachi,first experience for him.

Will be interesting to see Ramiz interview him at the toss :djb
 
2.20 pm Just in: Shahid Afridi and Imad Wasim will not play for Karachi Kings today - both injured - and Eoin Morgan did not travel to Lahore. So Karachi Kings will be led by Mohammad Amir in the second Eliminator against Peshawar Zalmi. At stake - a spot in the PSL final.
 
Not ideal prep for KK but they have a strong line up and on their day, can beat anyone BUT Zalmi are in such form, so inspired by Sammy as always and just coming off the back of a huge win. Zalmi to take it...I think.
 
Denly and Simmons should be the openers; Mukhtar Ahmed was not needed unless he comes in at #3. Danish Aziz should play over Irfan Junior. Zulfi Baba should play in place of injured Shahid Afridi.
 
Usama Mir should be a straight swap for Afridi

Mukhtar for Manzoor

Simmons for Morgan

Danish for Irfan jr

oh yeah forgot that Morgon is not playing, then Mukhtar can come in at #3 after Simmons and Denly. Or Denly can come in at #3 after Simmons and Mukhtar.
 
Is it the captains fault for not being pro active and sending in a power hitter instead of babar azam who we know cannot hit big and score fast. Especially in a chase where you need 11rpo.....Karachi management messed it up big time.

no Amir could not possibly have the power to decide the batting order; it was all Mickey
 
Unfortunately injuries stopped them, otherwise they would've gotten to the Finals at least imo.
 
They never really got going in the tournament. There bowling attack is strong but they need to add more power into there batting.
