I want the leg spinner Usama Mir to have a really good tournament. He can also bat well.

KK can put out some good XIs but I want to see this:

Iftikhar

They've done a good job considering they didn't have many first picks.

KK IS 🔥

You have a top order to lick your fingers the trio. Stable middle order and plenty of sloggers right till end.

Bowling is also very sharp with Amir having a excellent supplementary pick in WC winner Plunkett up front Imad along with Amir Yamin and Jordan to pull strings throughout. Unlike so many season before this time it seems like with Deano n Wasim they might have jus got the best that’s out there for all these guys.

I would select Ali Khan over Plunkett. Umer Khan for Amir Yamin
 
They have taken a risk by picking Sharjeel- we can’t assume that he is going to find his pre ban form.

But if he does, then KK have a strong batting lineup that consists of players who have played International cricket.
 
Whatch out for dan Lawrence. Super wristy and stylish English batsman. Bowls decent part time spin as well.
can play finisher role for kk.
 
Decent squad.

Would like to see Arshad Iqbal be given an extended run.

This is the strongest squad IMO. Especially batting which looks far ahead of the rest.
 
Just had a quick look at all the squads. First impressions are that karachi on paper, is the only proper TEAM, all the other teams have at least 3/4 rubbish players.
I knew deano would do a good job, thats why i was so desperate for him to get the Pakistan job!
I am a lahori, so the above was not easy for me to say. Alot of people are upset with the lahore squad and yes they have some rubbish players, but with shajeel, hales, babar, shaheen and haris rauf, i expect that they will make the final.

My prediction:
This is going to rock Pakistan -

Winners, well my heart says lahore, but my mind says karachi.

Final prediction - Lahore Qalandars PSL5 Champions(sorry karachites)

I messed up!
I have mixed up karachi's top 3 and lahores bowling lol!
But you have to say this would be the best team in PSL5, if it existed!
Apologies to everyone.
That karachi top 3 is potentially world class, not impressed with the bowlers but expect amir and imad to do ok. Jordan too should do ok.
Lahore will depend heavily on.shaheen and haris rauf.
Batting wise, fakhar and lynn can both be monsters or they can be horrible.
Definetly , wont win the title but may still make the final as the other teams are so poor


Correct prediction- karachi kings PSL5 CHAMPIONS!

U feel Karachi have a good bowling line up not average

Amir Jordan and Umer khan can take wickets

While Yamin and imad wasim can be economical

Even Usama mir and umaid asif can be handy bowlers
 
maybe a pacer short, but still very strong team overall. Sharjeel could be potential x-factor, he could also be really really bad considering he hasn't played competitive cricket in so long.
 
It feels weird not having Ingram and Livingstone in this team. They were the only two batsmen worth watching in this team because they were match winners.

Rizwan should be in the top 3 to be useful as a bat. If they can’t fit him there he is basically playing as a specialist keeper.

Agree though this is a pretty good side overall

Good from KK, irrespective of who is the player. Its complete unprofessionalism from the player’s part and KK os completely right to treat him equally just like any other contracted player.

Basically, Hales won't be playing in the PSL.

Let's see who they replace him with.
 
Very bad stunt by that player in last minutes, what was he thinking lol KK rightly solved the matter, Salman Iqbal is a very smart guy :)

Alex Hales has been picked up in platinum category, the highest paying group in the PSL, chances of him messing up the easy money is quiet low whereas Dan Lawrence who has secured a silver contract might actually want a better pay and he might be trying a few gimmicks.

P.S. Liam Plunkett is a supplementary pick for the Karachi Kings wonder which category he will be paid for (was listed in Platinum) any idea [MENTION=9]Saj[/MENTION] ?

Thats good to know as there is no other overseas player in KK team who will make much difference and couldnt be replaced. Still really unprofessional on the player's part.

Karachi Kings’ Liam Plunkett (Gold, Supplementary) has been ruled out of HBL PSL V due to an injury and he will be replaced by New Zealand fast-bowler Mitch McClenaghan (Gold) for the full duration of the tournament. The left-arm Kiwi pacer has previously featured for Lahore Qalandars.

Their other replacement was also for the complete edition with Chadwick Walton (Silver), who returns to the HBL PSL after turning out for Islamabad United in the 2018 and 2019 editions, coming in place of Dan Lawrence (Silver), a 22-year-old Essex batsman, who will be busy with England Lions.

Karachi Kings– Mitch McClenaghan (Gold) replaces Liam Plunkett (Gold, Supplementary) for the full competition; Chadwick Walton (Silver) replaces Dan Lawrence (Silver) for the full competition

Liam Plunkett is a big loss for kk, good fast medium who can hack also, his replacement is not that good imo. Come on Karachi:D

Potentially a left/right hand combo that'll, at least on paper, get you off to a flier along with an explosive number 3. 4 and 5 can carry the innings deep and can hit the boundary balls as well.

Rizwan's feisty batting can be a bit ugly, especially when he's rushed to score runs (and he will be since it's t20) but if he gets it right then these can be very useful runs.

Imad, Jordan, and Amir can provide some lusty blows towards the end of the innings.

Amir, assuming he has his mojo going consistently, will be lethal with the new ball. Also, he and Jordan will be very good at the death. Imad and Umer will constrain the batsmen; also, since all the PSL games will be in Pakistan, it's safe to say that they'll get assistance from the pitches (for Umer Khan especially). Arshad Iqbal will be the surprise X factor in their attack.

Final thoughts: I have them going to the PSL finals. The only major question I feel is that if the top order fails, will the middle-lower order be able to put enough runs on the board?

I doubt they will go for two emerging players and will play Arshad Iqbal over Mitchel McClenaghan or Ali Khan who both can play as the 4th overseas player. Though you never know.

Good point. The ideal scenario for KK is that they qualify early and give their bench strength a try in the however many filler games left.
 
Strongest team on paper. Should definitely end up being among the top 3 teams by the end of tournament.

Agreed. It was only possible because Imad was demoted to Diamond category as otherwise KK had to let go either Imad, Babar or Amir. Babar would have been probably the captain in any other team.PCB needs to look at the retention rule as allowing to demote the category while retention process allows team to have negotiations with their player and who knows maybe maybe Imad will be compensated outside the contract as otherwise it doesnÂ’t make sense that he would have agreed for a big pay cut when he could have gotten more.

I guess it’s about consistency.

You can’t sack a captain in a year.

If Imad doesn’t win in this season or may be next, and if Babar does well at the two T20 wcs he’ll eventually become the captain.

It’s also good for Babar to play freely and learn some cheeky shots given the fact that he’s already the captain of two formats and the backbone of all three formats.
 
Karachi kings played a practice match today, i cant find result or scorecard anywhere. What was the result?
 
With this team if Imad doesn't win this time then they should kick him out for good.
 
i think all teams have a chance only multan look really weak if you look at 20 20 perspective

Multan will be okay if Khushdil Shah fires. Massive reliance on Bopara, Vince and Rosseau -- picking Shan as captain might hurt if he hurts the balance of the team
 
Quite a few of the Karachi players have been struggling with illness. In fact Alex Hales was so bad that he couldn't play earlier today.

Dean Jones has been struggling with illness too.
 
Karachi has got a great team.

Babar Azam, Iftikhar ahmed. SHarkjeel. There batting is strong, they might be finalist

Agreed.

I think it will be a Multan vs Karachi final. Multan will probably top the group but Karachi will rise up in the final.
 
Karachi seem to have good balance in their side.

A hard hitting opener partnered with a consistent opener who can score runs at a good rate.
Delport, Iftikhar, Walton and Imad can all hit big. Ifti can build an inning if he comes in early.

Umer Khan is a clever spinner, Amir is good upfront and at the death. Jordan is really good in t20s and can hit big. Umaid Asif is accurate and nippy with good pace.

I wasn't convinced by Arshad Iqbal. Perhaps it was 1st game nerves, but he didn't have any movement or pace. Umer should hopefully replace him tonight.

This is the best opportunity for Karachi to win the PSL.

I forgot about Hales. He should easily come in for Chadwick Walton and bat at 3.
