We are getting closer and closer to the business end of the tournament as Match number 20 is upon us. It’s the Multan Sultans taking on Karachi Kings in Lahore. On one hand Multan Sultans are languishing at the bottom of the table as they have won just a solitary game this season, whereas on the other hand Karachi Kings are pretty much in the playoffs race with 3 wins in 6 games. For the Sultans, in their batting department, if we leave aside Mohammad Rizwan and Usman Khan none of the batters have crossed even 150 runs tally this season, as the duo as have done bulk of the scoring for the team. In their bowling department, only one bowler features in the top 10 wicket takers this season and that is Ubaid Shah, clearly indicating the kind of season the rest of the bowlers are having.
They have overall failed to put in a collective performance as, on occasions their batting has failed completely and on some occasions bowling has leaked runs like anything. On the other hand, for Karachi Kings, in their batting department, James Vince has been their leading run scorer having notched up a 50 and a 100 this season. Their captain David Warner's form is a concern, as apart from one game, he has failed to delivery anything material till now. Khushdil Shah has contributed with some cameos down the order. In their bowling department, Hasan Ali has been their go to man as he is currently the leading wicket taker this season, having taken 13 wickets at an economy rate of 8.21. Abbas Afridi btoo has been mighty impressive. Overall, their bowling department has outperformed their batting department. So coming to this game, it promises to be another thriller, as the last time these two teams met in the tournament, we had a last over finish. So can the Multan Sultans avenge the defeat from the first game and salvage some pride or will the Kings do the double and march towards the playoffs. We shall find out.
