Karachi Kings vs Multan Sultans [102/6] abandoned due to persistent rain

Afridi is a GOAT hitter against spinners, sadly not the same against pace bowling.

You have to be really bad to be smashed about by a 45 year old Afridi

KK have a good chance this season to win it all, but I fully expect them to bottle it in a high pressure situation.

I've always said that Khushdil and Masood are pathetic batsmen.

Yet, people hype both of them.

Esepcially this "Khusdil" guy, we have some really strong backers of him. Probably the stats fan brigade, who never watches how someone bats.
Khushdil is a hack big hack. Masood is good test player... We all know.

I really really wanted to like Khushdil but he's disappointed me severely, however i reckon Shan ain't too bad even though i don't like him. Overall though i would like Umar Amin in the WC squad as i think he's some hitter.

Really good performance by Karachi. They set the tone with their lines with the new ball and Multan couldn't get away from them.

Then it's been the spinner's show - they've been benfitted by the wicket (no other innings in this PSL has produced a higher degree of turn) but they've used it briilliantly.

Umar Amin is TTF

Lala still is a better all-rounder than many self-proclaimed superstars we have in the current Pakistan team.

Is there any chance of play today? Lala still has it, he is like the super all-rounder of T20 - the safest bet for any fantasy team.

If Multan don't bat again. Karachi's target will be 107 if there are 16 overs in the inns, target 74 if 10 overs and 40 if 5 overs.

Any update?

Covers still on.

Lucky, lucky MS - going to get 1 undeserving point and that’s against the strongest team. This was some advantage for cricket in UAE...

They should've shifted it to Multan and Karachi. Despite forecasts PCB inefficiency and lack of decision making costs the fans the game whereas broadcasters face huge losses.

Tell me any example of this happening?

What is the PCB supposed to do about the weather?

Umar Amin is TTF

Have no idea what TTF stands for. By no means is he amazing but I reckon he can do a good job up the order. Ahsan ali has disappointed and I reckon both malik and hafeez fail on the big stage

That's the blunder they have made. Tomorrow's games will be abandoned as well.

They shifted Lahore tie of PAk v Sri Lanka to Karachi last year, if they don't than its huge loss for them and than for the fans. There are 4 PSL matches in next 2 days with 90% forecast of rain in Rawalpindi and Lahore

Why being so clueless. PCB, heck, any other sporting body in the whole world can't control the weather.

Neither do they shift matches like this in the 1 or 2 weeks leading up to a match.

Give us examples of the fantasy competency you're dreaming of.

Where it happens on a consistent basis.

I predicted 6 draws due to rain eariler, didn't happen due to yesterday match

Pindi weather is not looking good at all for two days

Lahore next match is 50/50 and there is also rain prediction on 11th march.

Karachi is all clear

PSL is going to drown for another 2 days. The weather forecast was already there and PCB had a meeting 4 days back as reported by channels. They called the Chief Minister of Sindh asking about preparations and then nothing happened.

PSL needs to shift or else forget about seeing a match for the next 2 days.

Should have moved the games to Karachi/Multan where the weather has been better.

Lol, Yah do you know the logistical challenges that come with just moving games. Weather is part of the game and has always been, can't move games to other cities just cause. So what would the PCB tell the teams , hey guys so I know you guys have been in Lahore doing your training, but the forecast is showing rains tomorrow, so do you want to travel to another city to play cricket to escape the rain. All these hotels and travel plans have been booked before the tournament started, that how it is in every sport and tournament. This isn't you gully cricket league where decisions can be made hastily.

No they didn't

Test match? Rain or not there is no way you can have a test match in Lahore when there is smog in winters. ODI matches in Karachi, and T20 in Lahore

I am not sure why people think it's so easy to shift matches.

You have to make wholesale travel arrangements, hotel arrangements, security arrangements, and then start selling tickets. And when only a handful of people show up, because tickets were sold only two days before the match, then we'll have problems with the crowds as well. I haven't heard of this happening regularly in any other league unless it's in exceptional circumstances. Heck, World Cup matches are washed out, so what's a league compared to that?

Always easier said than done.

It's a shame really.

Afridi might have pushed the score a bit, but we should have still won it, the damage was already done.

We have been robbed of a precious point that could have helped us claim the 2nd spot on the points table.

Then we won't have a lot of cricket in the upcoming 3/4 days which will be a great disappointment to the fans and broadcasters/sponsors.

Rain is part of the game, yes its disappointing for the fans, but the broadcasters/sponsors are not stupid they know weather can be an issue all this stuff is talked about when the deals are signed. Its like that in any sport that is affected by the weather. The women's T20 semifinal just got washed out because of the weather.

One should always try to get the maximum out of the possible. If Pak could save the game against Sri Lanka by moving the game to a different location then why not for such a big tournament. If it's not possible then it's not possible but one should always consider alternatives.

Yah you should considered alternatives, but the rain is not one of them.

Rofl PSL and crowds someone forgetting PSL stint in UAE of previous seasons.

If there are so many issues why did they contact Sindh CM for Karachi security?

Can't equate logistics of a T20 league to 50 over World Cup matches.

Some armchair logistic managers think PSL is a street cricket match where if one gully is not feasible, you can pick up your bats and garden chair stumps and go to the next street.

There is nothing PCB can do at this point apart from home and pray that the weather clears.

Lahore, 6 March 2020:

The 19th fixture of the ongoing HBL PSL 2020 between Multan Sultans and Karachi Kings at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium was called-off after 16.5 overs due to rain.

Sultans, the table toppers, were at 102 for six with Shahid Afridi, who had accumulated the most runs in the innings with 35 off 17, on strike when umpires asked the ground staff to pull the covers because of heavy showers.

Karachi Kings captain Imad Wasim’s decision to bowl first paid dividends as Sultans had half of their batting line-up back in the pavilion in 10.4 overs with only 53 runs on board.

Moeen Ali, who opened the innings, was the only batsman amongst the top six, to enter double-digits as he made 29 off 22 balls.

Imad and Aamer Yamin picked up two wickets each, giving 14 and 17 runs respectively. Mohammad Amir and Umer Khan took a wicket each.

The two points for the match were equally divided between the two teams. Multan Sultans remain at the top of the table with nine points from six matches, while Karachi Kings are fourth with seven points, also from six matches.

On Saturday, Islamabad United face-off Peshawar Zalmi at the Pindi Cricket Ground in the afternoon and Lahore Qalandars lock horns with Quetta Gladiators at the Gaddafi Stadium in the evening.

Scores in brief

Multan Sultans 102-6, 16.5 overs (Shahid Afridi 35 not out, Moeen Ali 29; Imad Wasim 2-14, Aamer Yamin 2-17)

Can't satisfy everyone.

Like others said, it's not a gully mohalla match which can be shifted to a different ground at the last minute.

Karachi would have won this game had it not been for the weather. Very unlucky for them.

When Imad Wasim was getting that much turn then imagine the unplayable deliveries of Afridi and Imran Tahir on this pitch. Even 120 was a defendable target there.
