Kylian Mbappe - An ATG in the making?

Kylian Mbappe became Paris St-Germain's all-time leading goalscorer in Ligue 1 as they beat 10-man Lens to move five points clear at the top of the table.

Mbappe, who netted his 139th goal in his 169th league match, surpassed Edinson Cavani's tally.

In a crucial match between the league's top two, Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed was sent off after 19 minutes.

Lionel Messi and Vitinha also scored for PSG before Lens' Przemyslaw Frankowski scored a penalty.

Second-placed Lens created numerous chances despite trailing 3-0 at half-time but were unable to add to Frankowski's spot-kick as PSG edged closer to an 11th league title.

Paris St-Germain are prepared to sell Kylian Mbappe this summer rather than risk losing him for free in a year's time, after he told the French club he will not renew his contract.

The France forward's current deal expires at the end of next season, with the option of another year.

There was a deadline of 31 July for Mbappe, 24, to tell PSG if he was going to renew until 2025.

After months of talks, he has sent the club a letter saying he will not.

PSG's record goalscorer would be free to leave for nothing at the end of next season and the move could be a negotiating tactic.

However, as the French champions try to readjust their team-building policy after years of buying star players with no obvious coherent strategy, PSG have resolved not to let Mbappe go for nothing, with the club irritated that the letter was leaked in the media before they saw it.

It means that unless they get assurances about the 2018 World Cup winner's future intentions, they will sell him in a move that would put Europe's leading clubs on alert.

Real Madrid are long time admirers of the Frenchman and he rejected a move to the Bernabeu to stay at PSG last year.

The exit of Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia means Real need a striker, although it had been thought Tottenham's Harry Kane was at the top of their list.

Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 initially on loan from Monaco before a 180m euros move, has scored 212 goals in 260 games.

He has 38 goals in 68 games for France, including a hat-trick in last year's final in Qatar, as France lost to Argentina on penalties.

Mbappe finished as Ligue 1's top scorer in each of the last five seasons and has won five league titles in his six seasons at PSG.

PSG ended 2022-23 with just the Ligue 1 title after once again failing to win the Champions League, losing to Bayern Munich in the last-16.

Mbappe would be the second high-profile forward to leave the Parc des Princes this summer, after Argentina forward Lionel Messi left at the end of his two-year contract to join Major League Soccer's Inter Miami.

Neymar, the third member of PSG's superstar frontline last season, has been linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.

Kylian Mbappe: Paris Saint-Germain forward says he has not asked to leave the club this summer

Kylian Mbappe says he has not asked to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer and that the letter he sent to the club was leaked with the aim of "damaging his image".

The forward has also taken to Twitter to brand reports that he wants to join Real Madrid this summer as "lies", adding he is "very happy" with the French champions.

On Monday it emerged that Mbappe had written to PSG to tell them he would not be triggering the clause in his current deal that would see it extended until the summer of 2025, meaning he is set to become a free agent next summer.

In a statement sent to news agency AFP on Tuesday, Mbappe said PSG have known his decision for nearly a year, adding that "the only aim of the letter was to confirm what had already been spoken about previously".

Mbappe also insisted he has not spoken to PSG about extending his contract.

However, PSG have denied this, saying: "It is emphatically untrue to say Mbappe's team have not been involved in renewal discussions."

The club also insist the forward's letter was provided to the media before it was sent to them

Mbappe's statement read: "After having publicly declared in recent weeks that he will be a Parisian next season, Kylian Mbappe did not ask for his departure this summer, but merely confirmed to the club that he was not activating his additional year.

"The management of the club in charge of its extension (signed on May 21 2022) was informed of its decision on July 15 2022 and the sole purpose of the email was to confirm what had already been orally clarified previously.

"Mbappe and his entourage claim they have not discussed this point with the club again during the year, except 15 days ago to announce the sending of the letter. Nor has any possible new extension been mentioned.

"Finally, Mbappe and his entourage regret that the receipt of this letter has been transmitted to the media and that these exchanges are made public with the sole aim of damaging his image and the smooth running of conversations with the club."

PSG are unwilling to allow Mbappe to leave for free at the end of his contract, meaning he could be sold during the current transfer window.

Mbappe turned down interest from Real Madrid to sign his current PSG contract last summer, with the deal running for two years and including a player option to extend the agreement by 12 months.

'PSG prepared to sell Mbappe to Man Utd'

Paris Saint-Germain are prepared to sell Kylian Mbappe to Manchester United this summer should the Qatari-backed Sheikh Jassim takeover bid prove successful, reports the Daily Mirror.

According to the report, Mbappe will not sign the one-year contract extension in his PSG contract meaning that his deal will expire in 12 months.

The Ligue 1 champions' priority is to ensure the 24-year-old does not leave without a transfer fee, meaning they are prepared to cash in on him this summer.

Kylian Mbappe: Paris Saint-Germain forward tells Ligue 1 champions he is not leaving the club this summer under any circumstances

Kylian Mbappe has told Paris Saint-Germain he will not leave the club under any circumstances this summer.

PSG's position, therefore, has not changed - he will be frozen out and not play until his contract runs out next season.

Sky Sports News understands one point of contention is that Mbappe feels let down by the club's transfer policy.

When he signed a new contract last summer, he was led to believe that Robert Lewandowski and Bernardo Silva would be joining him in Paris.

Meanwhile, PSG are planning for life without him. They also want to set a precedent and send a message to all players, regardless of who they are, that no one is bigger than the club.

PSG accepted a £258m bid from Al-Hilal last month but Mbappe rejected the one-year move to Saudi Arabia. PSG feel Mbappe has already agreed to move to Real Madrid on a free contract next summer.

I would love the allez le blues song to have new lyrics added translating as:

“Whose going to pick up big money without even playing?

Killian M ba pe!

Who’s going to stay at home and get paid massive?

Killian M BA pe!

A loan deal would be perfect for PSG

They won’t have to pay him wages and save some money at least

Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has returned to first-team training and is likely to stay at the French champions this summer.

The France forward, 24, had not been training with the first-team squad and was left out of PSG's 0-0 season opener with Lorient on Saturday.

He has been in a contract stand-off amid a desire to join Real Madrid but could now extend his contract at PSG.

PSG said Mbappe was reinstated after "very constructive and positive" talks.

The France captain watched the game on Saturday from the stands with France team-mate Ousmane Dembele, who joined PSG from Barcelona for £43.5m. He was also left out of the pre-season trip to Asia.

Mbappe has one year left on his current deal and has so far refused to sign a new contract.

Last month, PSG gave Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal permission to talk to the player after making a world-record £259m bid.

His reintegration has been arrived at following discussions between all parties in the past 12 hours.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been adamant he would not let the striker leave for nothing and it is thought some kind of agreement is likely that will see Mbappe sign the one-year extension to his present deal as originally envisaged.

That would run to 2025 and allow PSG to sell Mbappe to Real next summer.

"Following very constructive and positive discussions between Paris St-Germain and Kylian Mbappe before the PSG - Lorient game, the player has been reinstated into the first team training squad this morning," PSG said on Sunday.

Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 initially on loan from Monaco before a 180m euro (£165.7m) transfer, has scored a club record 212 goals in 260 games.

PSG and France forwards Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele are ready to start against Toulouse on Saturday, according to manager Luis Enrique.

Mbappe, 24, has made a surprise return to the squad after a contract stand-off and could now extend his current deal.

Earlier this week Neymar left PSG to joined Saudi Pro league club Al-Hilal, just days after PSG signed 26-year-old Dembele from Barcelona.

"I am very happy to have a world-class player like Kylian," said Enrique.

"He is in great shape, he has a lot of desire, a very good state of mind."

Mbappe was left out of the squad in PSG's 0-0 season opener against Lorient last week, after missing the club's pre-season tour of Asia and spent the majority of the summer training away from the first-team squad with players made available for transfer.

The 2018 World Cup winner was the subject of interest from Al-Hilal himself, as well as being linked with moves to a plethora of Europe's top clubs, until a surprise change of stance after the Lorient draw led to a truce between player and club.

Al-Hilal signed 31-year-old Neymar for a reported 90m euros (£77.6m), and the former Santos and Barcelona forward will be paid 150m euros (£129.2m) a year in Saudi Arabia - six times the amount he earned at PSG.

Enrique said Neymar's departure was "favourable" for everyone involved.

Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti '100%' rules out summer move for PSG striker

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has ruled out signing striker Kylian Mbappe from Paris St-Germain this summer.

The 24-year-old Mbappe has so far refused to sign a contract extension with PSG, prompting speculation he could join the La Liga side.

It is believed PSG were open to selling the France captain rather than running the risk of losing him for free when his deal expires next year.

When asked about a deal for Mbappe, Ancelotti said "No, I rule it out 100%."

He added: "I think our squad is closed and our players are thinking about our season."

Mbappe spent a spell training away from the PSG first team this month amid his contract stand-off, but he has since returned following what the club described as "very constructive and positive talks".

He was left out of the club's opening game of the season against Lorient but scored a penalty after coming on as a substitute in PSG's 1-1 draw with Toulouse last week.

In July, PSG gave Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal permission to talk to Mbappe after making a world-record £259m bid.

PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been adamant he would not let the striker leave for nothing and it is thought some kind of agreement is likely that will see Mbappe sign a one-year extension to his present deal as originally envisaged.

That would run to 2025 and allow PSG to sell Mbappe to Real Madrid next summer.

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017, initially on loan from Monaco before a 180m euro (£165.7m) transfer, and has scored a club record 213 goals in 261 games.

Kylian Mbappe scored twice as Paris St-Germain increased the pressure on Lyon boss Laurent Blanc with victory.

Mbappe netted an early penalty after Corentin Tolisso fouled Manuel Ugarte, and Achraf Hakimi doubled the lead after a one-two with Ousmane Dembele.

Marco Asensio and Mbappe gave PSG a 4-0 lead - the first time Lyon trailed by four goals at half-time in a league game since 1966.

Tolisso netted a consolation penalty as Lyon avoided a thorough thrashing.

Second-placed PSG are unbeaten this season, while Lyon remain bottom on one point from four games.

France striker Mbappe has scored five goals in three games after coming back into the fold, having been frozen out in the summer as the club tried to sell him.

Kylian Mbappe: Real Madrid rubbish rumours of talks with Paris St-Germain forward

Real Madrid have denied holding discussions with Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and say any such claims are "flatly false".

The France attacker has been a target of the Spanish club and could leave PSG when his contract expires next summer.

PSG accepted a world record bid of £259m from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal for the 24-year-old in July, but Mbappe rejected the move.

Madrid said they have had no talks with the 2018 World Cup winner.

"Given the information recently issued and published by different media outlets, in which there is speculation about alleged negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club, Real Madrid wants to state that this information is flatly false and that no such negotiations have taken place with a player who belongs to PSG," said the La Liga club in a statement.

Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, Inter Milan and Barcelona have all been linked with Mbappe, who could leave PSG for free at the end of this season and is widely thought to prefer a move to Madrid.

Mbappe's birthday brilliance secures PSG's win over Metz

Paris Saint-Germain celebrated the year-end atop Ligue 1 with a convincing 3-1 victory against Metz, led by Kylian Mbappe's sensational performance on his 25th birthday.

At Parc des Princes, the match started sluggishly for PSG, but Vitinha changed the tempo, scoring swiftly after the break with a debut goal. Mbappe then stole the spotlight, doubling the lead with a spectacular long-range strike, showcasing his sheer brilliance.

Despite Matthieu Udol's determined header for Metz, Mbappe struck again, capitalising on a defensive mistake, closing the game 3-1 and securing his 18th league goal of the season.

Adding to Mbappe's jubilation, his younger brother Ethan made a memorable senior debut during stoppage time.

The win solidified PSG's position at the top of the league, boasting a comfortable five-point lead over closest rivals, Nice, who secured a 2-0 win against Lens, courtesy of Terem Moffi's late brace. Monaco trailed PSG by seven points despite a commendable comeback, clinching a 2-1 win against Toulouse with Wissam Ben Yedder's double, even after Aleksandr Golovin's dismissal.

In other league clashes, Brest dominated Lorient 4-0, fueled by Kamory Doumbia's stunning four-goal display, propelling them to fourth place. Lille suffered a setback, falling 2-1 to Strasbourg under Patrick Vieira's guidance.

However, the match between Marseille and Montpellier was marred by disruptions when fireworks caused a five-minute pause in the game. Montpellier, who had previously faced disciplinary action due to a firecracker incident, faced more trouble with their coach, Michel Der Zakarian, expressing dismay over the episode.

Elsewhere, Reims clinched a 1-0 win over Le Havre through Keito Nakamura's lone goal. Rennes staged a late surge to secure a 3-1 victory against bottom-placed Clermont.

In a crucial match for survival, Lyon climbed out of the relegation zone, claiming a vital 1-0 victory against Nantes courtesy of an Alexandre Lacazette goal, marking their third consecutive win after a challenging start to the season.

Kylian Mbappe: Paris St-Germain forward says he has not made up mind on future

The 25-year-old France captain's deal with the Ligue 1 champions runs out in the summer and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Mbappe told PSG in June that he would not be taking up an option for a further 12 months in his contract.

"First of all, I'm very, very, very motivated for this year. It's very important," said Mbappe.

Speaking after scoring for PSG as they beat Toulouse 2-0 to claim the French Champions Trophy, he added: "As I said, we've got titles to go after and we've already won one, so that's already done. After that, no, I haven't made up my mind yet.

"But in any case, with the agreement I made with the chairman [Nasser Al-Khelaifi] this summer, it doesn't matter what I decide.

"We managed to protect all parties and preserve the club's serenity for the challenges ahead, which remains the most important thing. So we'll say it's secondary."

Mbappe joined PSG in 2017, initially on loan from Monaco before a 180m euro (£165.7m) move.

He was set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the 2021-22 season but ultimately signed a two-year contract extension, with the option of a further year.

However, after Mbappe told PSG he would not agree to the additional 12 months of the deal, he was not selected for their pre-season tour to Japan in the summer.

He subsequently refused to meet with representatives of Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal, who made a world record £259m offer for him.

The striker later returned to first-team training following what PSG said were "very constructive and positive" talks.

Mbappe turned down a move to Real Madrid when he agreed to his current deal with PSG in May 2022 but may not leave a decision on his plans as late this time around.

He added: "I think it was the end of May in 2022 because I didn't know until May.

"If I know what I want to do, why drag it out? It just doesn't make sense."

Meanwhile, Barcelona boss Xavi has said that players like Mbappe are out of reach for the Catalan club because of their financial position.

"I have to deal with the players I have, because right now we are not able to think about those kinds of signings," said Xavi.

"Unfortunately, we are not in a privileged situation economically to do that. I am left with the players I have, and with those players we have to win."

PSG president breaks silence on Mbappe’s ‘agreement’ with Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) president Nasser Al Khelaifi has opened up about star forward Kylian Mbappe’s reported agreement with Real Madrid.

Mbappe’s contract with PSG ends in June 2024 and, as of now, the Frenchman is legally allowed to talk with any club he wants to arrange a pre-contract. The rumours have just increased since the new year began with some outlets reporting that the 25-year-old has even reached an agreement with Madrid.

Al Khelaifi, who has often stated that he has no intentions of letting Mbappe go, remained firm on his stance confirming that PSG is the best club for the 2018 World Cup winner.

“Look, I'm not hiding anything," Al Khelaifi said to RMC. "For sure I want Mbappe to stay. For me, he is the best in the world and for me the best club for Kylian is Paris.

"He is the center of the project today. It's normal to ask about him. For me he is the best in the world, I have a very good relationship with him. Not only as a player, as a person.

"He has an agreement with me, as he has said. There is no negotiation, but I think he is still young, he wants to win many trophies and hopefully with us."

PSG at one time employed Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr., and Mbappe, effectively one of the best attacking trios on paper but they didn’t manage to win the UEFA Champions League, which was the main purpose of gathering the biggest superstars.

The closest they came to European glory was in 2020 when they lost the Champions League final to Bayern Munich.

"We have done many things, some have worked and some have not," Al Khelaifi continued. "We have made mistakes, it's normal.

"Now we have made a young team, with French people, for the long term, we are not in a hurry. We have made a good technical team and the system has also changed and it is a pleasure to see this team. We play soccer, they play as a team, they defend together, the atmosphere is magnificent.

“It was time to change, to build something new. In Paris we have the best player in the world, and today we are one of the best clubs in the world. We are fourth in the UEFA rankings. We arrived in 2011 and I don't know where we were in the ranking.

"We have to continue and we work to win, also the Champions League, but maybe it was a mistake to put so much pressure on the Champions League. Soccer is not that simple.

Paris St-Germain and France forward Kylian Mbappe, 25, will not move to the Premier League next season. He will stay at PSG or join Real Madrid.

Fabrizio Romano drops major Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid update

With Kylian Mbappe now in the final six months of his contract with PSG, something needs to happen soon. Most people view Real Madrid as the heavy favourites to be the Frenchman's next destination, having been linked with him since his time at AS Monaco. But we have been in this situation before, yet a move to Santiago Bernabeu did not materialise then.

Mbappe's future has been a topic of discussion for a long time and there has been constant speculation about a possible move to Real Madrid. But not much has become clear over the course of the past several months.

Will Mbappe end up extending his contract with PSG again? Will he finally make his long-anticipated move to Real Madrid? Or does his future lie elsewhere?

Fabrizio Romano has an update on the situation. And it does clarify one thing. There is no fixed date for Mbappe to make his decision despite the recent rumours.

Romano drops major Mbappe to Real Madrid update
As reported by CaughtOffside, Romano said on the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column:

"Kylian Mbappe is one situation to follow – both Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are expecting Mbappe to announce his decision soon, we’re still waiting for that communication – first he will communicate his decision to PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, but for sure Real Madrid keep working very strong and very hard on this deal – they are on it.

“Still, let me clarify that. despite what’s been reported by some, I never said Mbappe will announce his future on Feb 14, I don’t know where this is coming from.

“In any case there are constant contacts from Madrid to make it happen. The discussion is about the salary, potential contract and more, and it’s constant communication. PSG will wait and hope until the end, as nothing has been communicated to them yet."

Thus, it is clear that nothing is for certain in the Mbappe saga just yet. It does feel like Real Madrid have a slight edge in the race for his signature though.

Mbappe joining Real Madrid would be a blockbuster move and one that has been coming for a long time. Of course, there is a possibility that it could leave to some leaving as well.

For example, there has been speculation about Vinicius Junior potentially departing Real Madrid in case Mbappe arrives. The Frenchman can play as a centre-forward and his best position is on the left flank. On the other hand, Los Blancos are expected to sign a long-term number 9 soon. Where would that leave in the Brazilian superstar and his place in the team?

Kylian Mbappe agrees Real Madrid deal to join in summer

Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick for France in the 2022 World Cup final but finished on the losing side as Argentina won on penalties

Paris St-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has agreed to join Real Madrid this summer.

The France captain, 25, has told PSG he intends to leave the club with his contract expiring in June.

Mbappe has not signed a contract with Real yet, but the deal could be announced once it is no longer possible for the clubs to meet in this season's Champions League.

The World Cup winner is PSG's record goalscorer with 244 goals.

Mbappe wanted his future sorted before March, so on 13 February, before training, he met PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and told him he was leaving and joining Real.

After reports emerged last Thursday that he would leave, Mbappe was left out of the starting line-up for Saturday's match against Nantes, but came off the bench to score a penalty as PSG went 14 points clear at the top of Ligue 1.

He is set to sign a five-year deal with Real, earning 15m euros (£12.8m) a season, plus a 150m euro (£128m) signing-on bonus to be paid over five years, and he will keep a percentage of his image rights.

Real manager Carlo Ancelotti has already thought how he will use Mbappe in his team, with England midfielder Jude Bellingham playing a deeper role, Brazilian Vinicius Jr playing on the left and Mbappe playing left of centre.

If Croatia midfielder Luka Modric leaves this summer, then Mbappe would inherit the number 10 shirt he wears for France.

PSG are 2-0 up against Real Sociedad after the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie, while Real lead RB Leipzig 1-0.

Amigos here comes Mbappeeeeee....

Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique has appeared to confirm that Kylian Mbappe is set to depart with Real Madrid poised to sign him.

Mbappe was the star of the show on Tuesday night after scoring twice against Real Sociedad to send PSG through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

But the France international appears to already be on his farewell tour in Paris with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Having already told PSG that he will not renew his deal, Mbappe looks set to leave this summer for nothing - with an agreement believed to be in place with Real Madrid.

And PSG coach Enrique even let slip that the World Cup winner is seemingly on his way out of Parc des Princes.

The Spaniard said: "Kylian, I'm not just discovering him today.

"You already know my opinion on him. he's the best player in the world.

"He'll score 50 goals and provide 25 assists in any team with any coach and unfortunately he won't be here in the near future so we will have to test other teammates of his."

Real Madrid have always been favourites to secure his services, and came close to snapping him up two years ago before he extended his contract with PSG.

A move to the Premier League has been previously touted with Liverpool amongst the chasing pack.

But the finances involved in signing the superstar mean that any chance of the forward arriving on these shores are miniscule at best.

Meanwhile, Mbappe has denied that there was a rift between him and Enrique after the PSG boss took him off at half-time last weekend.

He remarked: "I always want to play in the Champions League — it is a very important competition.

"I could never be a player who hides. My relationship with the coach is good.

"There is no problem even if people might think that there is. I have many issues but the coach is not one of them."

World-renowned French footballer Kylian Mbappe has initiated legal action against a shop selling kebabs in Marseille using the striker’s name on one of their sandwiches demanding the removal of the name of the athlete from their menu.

According to RMC Sport, Mohamed Henni, who owns a kebab shop and supports PSG's rivals Marseille, has received a letter from Mbappe's lawyer, Delphine Verheyden, and has been given a week to rename the takeaway dish to avoid legal trouble. Now the influencer has vented his fury at this turn of events.

The influencer shared the letter on social media, which reads: "Mr. Henni uses Kylian Mbappe's name for commercial and promotional ends, without having obtaining explicit prior consent."

In response, a "stunned" Henni wrote: "A player of this level has the time to think about me. He [Mbappe] is using his time and money to attack me. I am not hurting anyone, I am a humourist. Are you not embarrassed? Launching a legal complaint for absolutely nothing?”

Mbappe set to measure up to Marseille for final time with PSG

Kylian Mbappe is set to sample the fiercest rivalry in French football for the final time before his expected departure at the end of the season as Paris Saint-Germain make the trip to Marseille on Sunday.

Marseille, in contrast, are seventh, three points outside the European places despite a recent revival under new coach Jean-Louis Gasset, a former PSG assistant boss.

Mbappe has already told PSG that he intends to leave at the end of the current campaign when his contract expires, with Real Madrid his expected next destination.

That means he is unlikely to sample the heated atmosphere of the 67,000-capacity Velodrome again any time soon after this Sunday.

This will be his second visit there this week, after he turned out for France at the same venue in their 3-2 friendly win over Chile on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old's status as national team captain did not prevent him from being whistled by sections of the crowd in the Mediterranean city, who were unable to forget his connection to PSG for the evening.

Macron Holds Out Hope Of Seeing Mbappe At Olympics

French President Emmanuel Macron said Friday he remained hopeful national team captain Kylian Mbappe would be able to play for his country at the upcoming Paris Olympics.

"I hope he will be able to play at the Olympic Games," Macron said when asked by pupils during a visit to a school in the French capital.

Mbappe has previously made clear his desire to represent France at the Games, but that possibility dissipated when Real Madrid recently warned they would not release any of their players to take part in the Olympics.

The 25-year-old World Cup-winning forward is currently at Paris Saint-Germain but has told the Ligue 1 side he intends to leave when his contract expires at the end of this season, with Madrid his expected next destination.

The Olympic football tournament -- which is for Under-23 players with three overage players allowed per squad -- does not fall during FIFA dates for international matches, which means clubs have no obligation to release their players for the competition.

Mbappe will lead France at Euro 2024 which runs from June 14 to July 14 in Germany.

The Olympic football competition begins on July 24 and runs to August 9, with France in a group alongside the United States, New Zealand and another side still to be determined.

Kylian Mbappe almost quit France national team after Euro 2020 penalty miss – now he’s returning ahead of potential blockbuster Real Madrid transfer

Kylian Mbappe is ready to right the wrongs of 2021.

Mbappe might be forgiven for feeling a little deja vu ahead of the Euros this summer with the weight of a nation's expectations on his shoulders yet again - and Real Madrid lurking in the background.

France are at Euro 2024 as one of the favourites after their World Cup 2022 final appearance, where Mbappe grabbed a thrilling hat-trick.

And he will be desperate to exorcise the memory of their miserable exit at Euro 2020 in one of the tournament's most pulsating matches.

In the first knockout round after a 3-3 draw in Bucharest, Switzerland emerged victorious against the then-World Cup champions after Yann Sommer saved Mbappe's penalty in dramatic circumstances.

Karim Benzema had equalised for France just before the hour mark to cancel out Haris Seferovic's early strike before scoring again two minutes later.

Paul Pogba then let loose from distance to plant the ball into the top corner before the Swiss two late goals from Seferovic and Mario Gavranovic sent the match to penalties.

Switzerland had scored all five of their spot-kicks before the French golden boy stepped up to take Les Bleus' decisive penalty to send the game to sudden death.

But fans were left shocked when the Paris Saint-Germain star hit his effort somewhat tamely to his left, allowing Sommer to pull off a spectacular save and defeat the hot favourites to win the entire tournament.

Mbappe looked heartbroken, having won the World Cup with France just three years before where he became the second teenager ever after the legendary Brazil striker Pele to score in the final.

What followed was despicable, though, with the Frenchman revealing he nearly quit international football after receiving torrents of racist abuse.

In October 2021, he said: "I received the message, that my ego was what made us lose, that I wanted to take up too much space, and that without me, therefore, we might have won

"The most important thing is the French national team and if the French national team is happier without me, [I'll go].

"I met with the president and we talked about it. What I went to complain to him about was that I was insulted and called a 'monkey' for missing a penalty.

"That is not the same thing. I will never complain about a penalty. The penalty, I was the one who missed it."

The summer of 2021 did not stop for Mbappe there, though, as Real Madrid began their frontal assault for his signature from PSG, making a jaw-dropping bid of €200million (£171m) on deadline day.

The fee would have made him the second-most expensive player of all time after Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona for £200m in August 2017.

PSG turned down the money despite the forward being out of contract the following summer as they believed that he would pen a new contract, a premonition that looked audacious at the time - but would turn out to be true.

At the time, PSG director Leonardo even admitted that Mbappe wanted to leave and was desperate to join Real Madrid.

However, fast-forward 12 months and the Paris-born superstar had penned his short-term future to the Ligue 1 giants - signing a lucrative two-year contract extension worth nearly £1m a week.

It only appeared to put off the inevitable - that a move to Madrid was forthcoming eventually - and that PSG had battened down the hatches with shoestrings.

It has led us to this moment in time, on the crux of another European Championship and another transfer saga in the summer of 2024.

Meanwhile, he's also on the cusp of Champions League glory.

In 2021, Man City ended his dream at the semi-final stage and, once again, he finds himself in the final four.

This time, though, City are out, and Borussia Dortmund are standing in their way of a final berth.

And if successful, the football gods appear to have created an outrageous scenario which could even see Mbappe face Real Madrid in the final on June 1.

Now aged 25, Mbappe has experienced more than most players will ever get close to in a lifetime, and the memories of Bucharest will be as vivid as ever in Germany this summer.

This time, though, he can right those wrongs of 2021 - by winning the Champions League, leading France to glory at the Euros and finally signing for Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappé, PSG Trolled for Champions League Failure as Dortmund Advance to Final

The wait goes on for Paris Saint-Germain.

The French giant was felled by Borussia Dortmund in the semifinals of the Champions League.

With Dortmund holding onto a 1-0 lead from the first leg, Mats Hummels provided some insurance with a header in the 50th minute.

Symbolizing how the two-legged affair unfolded, Hummels' goal came moments after PSG midfielder Warren Zaïre-Emery hit a close-range effort off the woodwork. That was one of four shots the team hit off the frame of the goal.

Paris Saint-Germain was a bit unfortunate to be held scoreless in the first leg. Its luck was even worse in the return fixture.

Tuesday night offered another searing indictment of PSG's long-term project. It can keep winning Ligue 1 every season, but that's overshadowed by the absence of a single Champions League trophy to date.

The managers have changed. The key players have changed. And the outcome remains the same.

Nobody represents Paris Saint-Germain's failures better than Kylian Mbappé. While the 25-year-old's talent is undeniable, you can't help but think his career has stagnated a bit thanks in part to his side's domestic dominance.

Now Mbappé is poised to leave France behind — likely for Real Madrid — without having even collected a Champions League medal. Assuming he's out the door, being largely anonymous over the two legs against Borussia Dortmund is a disappointing way for what should've been a much more memorable run to end.

Mbappe cannot win the Ballon D'or. He can't.

That is one of the worst must win performances I've seen from a superstar in my life.

In the pantheon of Paris Saint-Germain's defeats in the Champions League knockout stages, this probably isn't the worst or most embarrasing.

But it might be the most frustrating because the road couldn't have been much easier to the final. While far from a minnow, Borussia Dortmund sits fifth in the Bundesliga and clearly couldn't match the Parisians' talent level. Overturning a one-goal deficit at Parc des Princes should've been pretty straightforward for PSG.

There's also Mbappé's impending free agency, which added a layer of urgency to this season. The club should have ample funds to sign a replacement(s), but taking a step backward might be inevitable when losing a star of his caliber.

It will be fascinating to see whether Paris Saint-Germain opts for a more dramatic shift in its approach in a post-Mbappé future. The status quo certainly isn't cutting it.

No, not in my book. With all the money in the game nowadays elite players like Messi or Maradona will be increasingly rare. This is because the best players are rarely settled nowadays at any one club. Money has greatly spoilt the career of many potentially ATG's.

Mbappe announces he will leave Paris St-Germain

France striker Kylian Mbappe says he will leave Paris St-Germain at the end of the season.

Mbappe, 25, announced the decision in a video released on his social media, external accounts.

"I’ve always said that I would speak with you when the time comes," Mbappe said.

"It's my last year at Paris St-Germain. I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks."

Mbappe's contract with PSG expires in June and BBC Sport reported in February that he has agreed a deal to join Real Madrid in the summer.

The World Cup winner is PSG's record goalscorer with 255 goals and will play his final home game at the Parc des Princes against Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Sunday at 20:00 BST.

After that PSG have away fixtures at Nice (15 May) and Metz (19 May) before the French Cup final against Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille on 25 May.

Paris-born Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco for £165.7m in August 2017, said the club helped "grow as a player" and "grow as a man as well".

He added: "It's a lot of emotions, many years where I had the chance and the great honour to be a member of the biggest French club, one of the best in the world.

"It allowed me to arrive here, to have my first experience in a club with a lot of pressure, to grow as a player of course, by being alongside some of the best in history, some of the greatest champions.

"It's hard and I never thought it would be this difficult to announce that. But I think I needed this, a new challenge, after seven years."

Why Kylian Mbappe 'could miss out on representing France at his home Olympics', despite president Emmanuel Macron's plea for him to play at Paris 2024

World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe looks set to miss out on the 2024 Olympics despite a desperate plea for his involvement by French president Emmanuel Macron, according to reports.

Paris is hosting the Games this summer, and whilst men's football is primarily for under-23s, there are spots available for more senior players - and Mbappe is one of the sport's most well-known figures.

The country's leader Macron has pushed for Mbappe's inclusion in the France squad as the hosts look to win the gold medal in the Olympic event this summer.

However, Real Madrid have reportedly not wavered in their stance that Mbappe should join up with the club after Euro 2024, and not participate in the Olympics later in the summer, according to Radio Marca.

It is only a matter of time before Mbappe's move to Real Madrid in the summer is confirmed, with the French superstar definitely departing PSG as a free agent.

Mbappe signs Real Madrid deal

Kylian Mbappe has signed a contract to join Real Madrid on a free transfer when his Paris St-Germain deal expires on 30 June.

The France striker verbally agreed to move to the Bernabeu in February and then announced in May he would leave PSG at the end of the season.

Mbappe, 25, has now signed terms with Real Madrid and will move to Spain when the La Liga transfer window opens on 1 July.

Madrid are expected to announce the deal next week and could formally present the forward at the Bernabeu before Euro 2024.

Mbappe, a World Cup winner in 2018, is PSG's record goalscorer with 256 goals since he joined them from Monaco on an initial loan in 2017.

He has agreed a deal with Real until 2029, earning 15m euros (£12.8m) a season, plus a 150m euro (£128m) signing-on bonus to be paid over five years, and he will keep a percentage of his image rights.

The Frenchman will get the chance to play alongside Luka Modric, with the Croatian midfielder set to sign a new one-year extension with the club.

Modric, 38, came on as a substitute as Madrid won their 15th European Cup title with a 2-0 win against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley on Saturday.

The former Tottenham midfielder's current deal expires later this month, but he is expected to stay for a further 12 months.

German Toni Kroos, 34, made way for Modric with four minutes remaining on his final appearance for the club after 10 years.

Real will hold a trophy parade through the Spanish capital on Sunday night following their record-extending success.

OFFICIAL: Kylian Mbappé signs for Real Madrid

After seven years at PSG, Kylian Mbappé will leave the club where he won 15 titles and scored 256 goals to become one of the greatest legends of Ligue 1, and join Real Madrid, the recent Champions League winner.

With an announcement that caused the Real Madrid website to crash automatically, garnering over 200,000 likes in just 5 minutes, the French star will join the Merengue club, which is currently enjoying a great moment thanks to its stars Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr., and Rodrygo. The arrival of Kylian Mbappé, along with that of the young Brazilian Endrick, will only strengthen the team further.

Now that the identity of his new club is officially known, Kylian Mbappé will be able to attempt to add another trophy to his collection before playing at the Santiago Bernabéu: the Eurocup with France.

'Things and people made me unhappy at PSG' - Mbappe

France forward Kylian Mbappe says "things and people made me unhappy" in his final year at Paris St-Germain.

Mbappe, 25, will join Real Madrid on a five-year deal when his Paris St-Germain contract expires on 30 June.

PSG's all-time leading goalscorer refused to sign a year's extension to his contract last August leading to a stand-off which saw him train away from the first-team.

"At PSG I wasn't unhappy, that would be biting the hand that feeds you, and spitting in the face of all the people who defended me, but things and people made me unhappy," said Mbappe on Tuesday.

"But there are things that you can't show because I was a leader and you don't follow someone who drags their sadness around."

Mbappe said PSG boss Luis Enrique and adviser Luis Campos "saved me".

"Without them I would never have set foot on the field again,” he added on the eve of France's friendly with Luxembourg in Metz.

"I'm more proud of that season when I know everything I had to go through to play.

"It was lower in my standards but just playing, repeating matches and winning trophies was my greatest pride. But next year, I won't be satisfied with a season like that."

Mbappe helped PSG win six Ligue 1 titles but he is looking forward to a fresh start at newly-crowned Champions League winners Real Madrid.

"It's a huge pleasure and a dream come true," he added.

"It's the club where I always dreamed of being. I'm going there with a lot of excitement and a lot of humility."

Mbappé urges youth to vote against 'extremists'

President Emmanuel Macron called a snap election earlier this month, following a victory for his rival Marine Le Pen's right-wing National Rally in European elections.

With less than two weeks before the vote, his centrist alliance risks being squeezed by new coalitions on the left and right.
On Saturday, police estimated that a quarter of a million people protested across France against the prospect of the far-right coming to power.

Speaking in Germany ahead of France's opening Euro 2024 fixture on Sunday night, Mbappé urged young voters to reject "extremists", who he said were "at the gates of power".

"We have an opportunity to choose the future of the country and we have to emphasise the importance of the task," he added. But the forward admitted he was concerned about the prospect of widespread apathy among younger voters.

Mbappé didn't name those he considered to be extremists, but was responding to a question about his teammate Marcus Thuram, who said he wanted to keep the far-right National Rally party from power during a recent interview.

The party was quick to attack Mbappé for his comments. Nicolas Conquer, a National Rally candidate, told the BBC's Newshour programme that it "doesn't feel right for a sportsman from the national team to give directions on how people should vote".

Candidates had until Sunday evening to register for the 577 seats in the lower house National Assembly ahead of the official start of campaigning from Monday.

Mr Macron’s dissolving of parliament was intended to “create a new parliamentary majority," former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, who leads a party allied to the president's bloc, told BFMTV.

The opening days of the campaign have seen new alliances emerge on the extreme left and right of France's politics.

A new left-wing alliance - the New Popular Front that takes in Socialists, Greens and hard-leftist France Unbowed (LFI) - had been appearing to take shape in recent days.

But the cohesion on the left has already shown signs of splintering, with the LFI's figurehead, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, proving to be too divisive a figure for some.

Mbappe 'not doing well' after nose injury

France boss Didier Deschamps said captain Kylian Mbappe is "not doing well" after sustaining a potentially broken nose in Monday's 1-0 win over Austria.

While Philippe Diallo, president of the French Football Federation, told reporters in Duesseldorf that Mbappe does "not require an operation", the extent of his injury is still unknown.

Late in France's opening game of Euro 2024 in Dusseldorf, Mbappe headed the ball and his face hit Kevin Danso's shoulder with the follow-through.

The 25-year-old forward received treatment on the pitch, with a lot of blood on his face, and then walked off the side of the pitch with France wanting to replace him with Olivier Giroud.

When play restarted without allowing France to make their change, Mbappe went on the pitch without permission and sat down - picking up a yellow card.

He was then replaced by Giroud.

"He's not doing well," said boss Didier Deschamps in the post-match news conference.

"His nose got badly hit. We need to check it out but it seems quite complicated, which is really very unfortunate for us.

"The medical staff are checking him out. I saw him on the massage table. He didn't get off lightly. It's still to be seen and I cannot at this stage give you a precise answer."

Mbappe, who has scored 47 goals in 80 appearances for France, will be integral to their hopes of winning a third European title.

He had a hand in France's only goal as his cross was headed into his own net by Max Wober.

Mbappe, who has yet to score a Euros goal to add to his 12 World Cup strikes, will join Real Madrid from Paris St-Germain this summer.

Deschamps was asked if he could miss their next game against the Netherlands on Friday.

"I'm not going to go into hypothesis but the French team with Kylian will always be stronger with him," he said.

"If the news doesn't go along these lines then we will have to fight without him."

France's Mbappe trains with bandage after nose break

Kylian Mbappe returned to France training on Wednesday, after breaking his nose against Austria in their opening Euro 2024 game.

The 25-year-old was pictured wearing a protective bandage during the session and initially trained alone.

It remains unclear whether the French captain will be able to play their second group match against the Netherlands in Leipzig on Friday.

The French Football Federation (FFF) previously said another update on Mbappe's fitness would be issued on Wednesday.

The forward was substituted against Austria after colliding with defender Kevin Danso's shoulder following an aerial challenge.

The break was confirmed at Dusseldorf hospital, before Mbappe rejoined his team-mates in camp.

A protective mask would be made for Mbappe, the FFF added.

He was booked following the incident for returning to the pitch and sitting down, consequently halting the game.

Austrian Danso, 25, said on X after the game that he wished Mbappe a "good recovery" and was sorry he was injured.

The French star recently signed for Real Madrid, with his Paris St-Germain contract expiring this summer.

France's final group game against Poland takes place on Tuesday.

Mbappe named on bench for France game against the Netherlands

France captain Kylian Mbappe was named on the bench for Friday's Euro 2024 Group D game with the Netherlands.

The 25-year-old striker was forced off during Monday's 1-0 victory over Austria after breaking his nose.

He took part in training on Thursday wearing a mask featuring the French tricolor, and boss Dider Deschamps said "everything was moving in the right direction" for him to be available to face the Dutch.

But Mbappe was instead among the substitutes, with Antoine Griezmann and Marcus Thuram named in the attack.

On Thursday, Griezmann said his absence would be a blow to the team.

Masked Mbappé expected to return for France against Poland at Euro 2024

France skipper Kylian Mbappé is expected to defy a broken nose and wear a face mask so he can feature in his side's final pool match at the European championships in Germany on Tuesday evening.

Mbappé, 25, sat out last Friday's 0-0 draw against the Netherlands as he continued his recovery from the injury he sustained during the closing stages of France's opening day win over Austria on 18 June.

The stalemate in Leipzig left France and the Netherlands with four points each after two games in Group D but the Dutch top the pool as they have scored more goals.

While France play Poland, the Netherlands – seeking a first European title since 1988 – will take on Austria in Berlin.

Should Poland beat France and Austria overcome the Netherlands, France should still be able to qualify for the last-16 knockout stages as one of the four best third-placed teams.

"It's no secret that Kylian wants to play against Poland," said France midfielder Aurelién Tchouaméni. "He's starting to get used to the mask. It's not going to change that much for him. We know he'll be ready when he's on the pitch."

Kylian Mbappé laments ‘catastrophic’ French election vote for National Rally

Kylian Mbappé has branded the first-round results of France’s snap parliamentary election “catastrophic”, urging voters to turn out in force and fend off the threat of a National Rally-controlled government when polls open for the runoff vote on Sunday.

In the latest of several interventions by members of the France national football team, the influential captain Mbappé warned that the country must take its chance to ensure the far right, anti-immigration party is unable to seize power in what has become a tumultuous political battle.

“It’s an urgent situation,” he said when asked for his thoughts on a parlous state of affairs that saw National Rally win 33% of the popular vote in last weekend’s first round. “We cannot let our country fall into the hands of these people. It is pressing. We saw the results, it’s catastrophic. We really hope it’s going to change: that everyone is going to rally together, go and vote, and vote for the correct party.”

Mbappé emphasised the importance of voting “now, more than ever”. France’s players are currently in Germany for the European Championship but they have maintained close attention on events back home and, unlike their English counterparts, a number of them have felt comfortable commenting on political matters.

Speaking on Monday after their victory over Belgium, the defender Jules Koundé said he was “disappointed” with the level of support for a party that “seek to take away our freedom and take away the fact that we live together”. He stated that previous non-voters must be persuaded to the ballot box in order to ensure the extreme right do not gain an absolute majority.

Before the tournament began, the forwards Marcus Thuram and Ousmane Dembélé both made similar exhortations to those eligible to vote. Mbappé joined them, saying at the time that he is “against extreme views and against ideas that divide people”.

Those comments were criticised by, among others, the National Rally leader Jordan Bardella. Mbappé, who recently signed for the Champions League winners Real Madrid, is France’s star player and a figure whose voice holds considerable weight among the country’s youth.

France face Portugal in a quarter-final on Friday and it means Mbappe, who will again play in a mask after breaking his nose in the group stage, will face a former Real Madrid forward in Cristiano Ronaldo. It is widely held that this could be the moment Mbappé, who is 25, takes the baton of greatness from the 39-year-old Portugal legend. “He is one of a kind,” Mbappé said. “He has shaped football, inspired generations, scored goals. I can only sing his praises.”

Kylian Mbappe's presentation and number are now revealed

In one month the wait will be finally over, the world's most captivating sport will return for another year of drama, intrigue, beauty, and suspense. Soccer will be back, this time, even better. But before that we have to witness one of the most wanted moments of the last few years, and is no other than Kylian Mbappe's presentation for Real Madrid.

On June 3rd, Real Madrid's social accounts and every soccer media collapsed. It was over. The moment every soccer fan was waiting arrived. The so-called next superstar figure arrived to best club in history, and the excitement, fear, happiness and sadness of many fans could be felt.

Now that France is eliminated of the EURO 2024 (they lost against the Spaniards 2-1 in a game where Lamine Yamal became the youngest-ever scorer at major tournament), Real Madrid was free to organize how to introduce Kylian to their fans.

Real Madrid's statement regarding Kylian's presentation was published in both website and social media accounts.

Kylian Mbappe will be presented at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Tuesday 16th July at noon.

They also added: "President of Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez, will welcome Kylian Mbappé to Real Madrid City for the formal signing of the contract that links our new player to the club for the next five seasons. Following the presentation, Kylian Mbappé will speak to the media in the press room at the Santiago Bernabéu".

They even announced what number the French super-star is wearing next season, and it is the fabulous number 9, wore by clubs legends like Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo (first season, 2009/2010) and Ronaldo Nazario.

'I spent endless nights dreaming about Real Madrid' - Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe said his childhood dream of joining Real Madrid had come true as he was unveiled to a packed Bernabeu.

The France forward, 25, signed a five-year deal at the club in July after the expiry of his Paris St-Germain contract.

His presentation was delayed due to France's involvement at Euro 2024, where they were knocked out at the semi-final stage by Spain.

But, speaking to a crowd of over 80,000 spectators at the Bernabeu, Mbappe told supporters he had dreamt of the moment he could call himself a Real Madrid player.

“I spent endless nights dreaming about one day playing for Real Madrid and today I am one happy guy," said Mbappe.

"My family are so happy here, I can see my mum crying.

"It’s an incredible day for me, I’ve dreamt of this day since I was a kid and this day means a lot to me."

Kylian Mbappe' is NOT LaLiga's highest paid player after making blockbuster switch to Real Madrid'... with a Man United target topping the pile and Jude Bellingham in the top 10 earners

Kylian Mbappe will be one of the biggest names in LaLiga next season after finally being unveiled as a Real Madrid player this week, but he is set to miss out on top spot when it comes to his wages.

The France skipper was presented to a packed Bernabeu stadium after joining the Spanish giants on a free transfer earlier this summer.

He underwent his medical on Tuesday following the conclusion of Euro 2024, in which he helped Le Bleus to the semi-finals.

Mbappe was long linked with a move to Madrid but opted to stay with his former club PSG, who appeared to fling every available euro his way to ensure he stayed in the French capital.

As a result, the 25-year-old raked in millions but his move to Madrid has seen that pay packed slashed.

According to The Sun, Mbappe will be the club's highest earner but he is some way short of the division's leader.

They claim that Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who has been linked with a move to Manchester United over the last few seasons, earns that accolade in LaLiga with an annual wage of £31.6million.

In fact, Barcelona players occupy the top two spots, with his team-mate Robert Lewandowski on a reported £28.2m. Then comes Mbappe on £26.3m per season.

Despite losing out in terms of basic wage Mbappe will be paid a sizeable signing on fee understood to be over €100m (£85.6m) and will keep an 80 per cent share of image rights on any new commercial deals he signs after becoming a Madrid player. This breaks from the normal 50-50 split the club usually imposes on new players.

The figures come after La Liga announced the latest salary caps for all Spanish clubs last month. The figures are calculated according to each club’s projected income and spending, and govern their dealings in the transfer market.

Real Madrid have been set the highest salary cap at €727m (£622.5m) meaning they can take on the signing of Mbappe without having to sell. The news was much worse for Barcelona whose salary limit has been set at just €204m.

This figure is around €200m (£171m) above their current wage bill and means they will have to sell players this summer in order to be able to bring new players to the club.

Mbappe is one of six Real Madrid players in the top 10. Along with three Barcelona players, Spain's two biggest clubs account for the largest wages in the top flight.

The only exception, according to the report, is Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak. He narrowly makes the top five of the list with an annual salary of £17.5m, the same pocketed by Madrid winger Vinicius Jnr.

Just ahead of them is defender David Alaba on £19m, who has been out since December with an ACL injury. The three other members of Carlo Ancelotti's squad that are included in the list are goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham.

Courtois, who also missed a large portion of last season with an ACL injury before suffering a setback on his return, reportedly earns £12.2m. Just ahead of him in ninth place is Valverde with £12.6m.

Bellingham finds himself a little higher up the list in seventh place with an annual wage of £15.8m.

He joined the side last summer and enjoyed a stunning debut season that - along with his team-mate Vinicius Jnr - has seen him listed among the leading contenders for the Ballon d'Or.

Former Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan is the other inclusion. His £14m wage sees him in eighth place.

How long it will take Kylian Mbappe to break Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid scoring record

Kylian Mbappe has made it no secret that Cristiano Ronaldo is his football idol, but how long will it take the Frenchman to break CR7’s Real Madrid scoring record?

Ronaldo spent a total of nine years at Real Madrid and during that time, he scored more goals than he made appearances.

Upon leaving the club in 2018, he left as the clubs all-time top scorer with a whopping 450 goals to his name – 96 more goals than anyone else has scored for the club.

His most prolific year came in 2014–15 when he scored a whopping 61 goals across all competitions. His goalscoring figures remained consistent throughout his time at the club and Mbappe certainly has some work to do if he wants to catch up.

While comparisons have been made between Mbappe and CR7, the Frenchman has insisted that he is following his own path.

“I am following my own path,” Mbappe told reporters when discussing the comparisons to Ronaldo.

“My dream of playing at Real Madrid is coming a reality. I hope that I will also be able to mark football but I am not going to write the next chapter of Cristiano Ronaldo’s story.

“I hope I will be able to be one of a kind at Real Madrid and be completely different.”

For many, Mbappe is the best player in the world right now and for good reason. The 25-year-old left PSG as their all-time top scorer and he can’t wait to get started in his new surroundings.

“A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams, Real Madrid,” Mbappe told reporters.

Mbappe may end up breaking many records.

He is very close to being the all-time highest goal-scorer in FIFA World Cup history.

Kylian Mbappe concludes £17m Caen takeover deal - what it could mean for Alexandre Mendy's Sunderland transfer

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has completed a takeover of French second-division club Caen - which could impact Sunderland’s transfer business this summer

Interconnected Ventures, founded by Mbappe, has acquired the majority shares of Caen through its investment entity Coalition Capital.

Sunderland are said to have had several bids rejected for Caen striker Alexandre Mendy after the player decided on Wearside as his next destination and not Saudi Arabia. Reports have suggested that the Mbappe takeover is holding up Mendy’s move to Sunderland with the club's new ownership now hoping to convince him to stay after buying the club for around £17million.

Kylian Mbappe to make Real Madrid debut as starter in UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta

Kylian Mbappe will make his long-awaited Real Madrid debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta on Wednesday, with coach Carlo Ancelotti naming him in the starting line-up.

The 25-year-old French superstar finally joined Los Blancos this summer at the end of his Paris Saint-Germain contract after the Spanish champion spent years trying to sign him.

Champions League holder Madrid faces Italian side Atalanta, the Europa League winners, in Warsaw, aiming to win the Super Cup for a record sixth time.

Mbappe starts Madrid’s first competitive match of the season alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes in attack, with England international Jude Bellingham in support.

Madrid announced Mbappe’s arrival in June but he played no part in the club’s pre-season tour of the United States.

The forward helped France reach the Euro 2024 semifinals, although he struggled after suffering a broken nose in the opening game and then netting just once, from the penalty spot, in Germany.

Mbappe was presented before over 80,000 fans at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish capital on July 16 before being allowed time off, from which he returned to begin training a week ago.

“Kylian can play from the start just like everyone who is here,” Ancelotti said Tuesday ahead of the match.

“He is adapting really well, he is focused and he is showing extraordinary quality.”

A trophy, a goal and 'no limit' - Madrid's Mbappe era begins

Kylian Mbappe said there is "no limit" to what he and Real Madrid can achieve together after he scored on his debut against Atalanta to help the club win a record sixth Uefa Super Cup.

The France captain completed a long-awaited move years in the making when he joined Real this summer after a trophy-laden spell at Paris St-Germain.

And despite having resumed training just over a week ago, it took PSG's record goalscorer just under 70 minutes to lay down his first marker of intent for the new season, with a clinical finish to ensure a triumphant start and more silverware for his new employers

"It was a great night - I've been waiting for this moment for a long time," Mbappe told Movistar, in fluent Spanish.

"To play with this shirt, with this badge, for these fans, it's a gift for me."

With Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Endrick also at manager Carlo Ancelotti's disposal, the addition of Mbappe - arguably the best attacking player in the world - has only strengthened the current European and Spanish champions.

And as they head into the new campaign, Mbappe stressed they are capable of great things.

"We are at Real Madrid, we have no limit. If I can score 50, then 50, but the most important thing is winning and improving as a team, because we will win as a team," Mbappe added.

England midfielder Bellingham, who played a starring role in Real's victory over the Serie A side and laid on a goal for his new team-mate, added: "He's just one of those players, he's brilliant.

"So sharp. So much technical quality. A great team-mate as well. He works for the team, like the rest of the lads. Credit to him, and he deserves it tonight."

Speaking to TNT Sports, Ancelotti added: "Mbappe did really well. He adapted well to the team. He combined well with Vinícius Jr and with Bellingham.

"Of course, we have a lot of quality, but we have to play together and we did that tonight."

Kylian Mbappe made his La Liga debut as defending champions Real Madrid were held by Mallorca on the opening day.

The France captain scored on his debut for the club in Wednesday's 2-0 Uefa Super Cup win over Atalanta.

But the summer signing from Paris St-Germain failed to get off the mark in domestic football.

I have a feeling Mbappe may stay with Real Madrid for a long time.

Had a smooth debut.

Mbappé could face a hostile home crowd when France host Italy in the Nations League

The France superstar is back to his home country with the national squad as the 2022 World Cup runner-up take on Italy in the UEFA Nations League at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappé played seven seasons with PSG before his move to Real Madrid this summer. He left amid a reported dispute related to unpaid wages worth 55 million euros ($61 million) and there is a chance he will face a hostile crowd.

“Tomorrow’s reception, I don’t expect much,” Mbappé told a press conference on Thursday. “I don’t care. The important thing is to win.”

Mbappé ended his scoring drought in the Spanish league by scoring both goals in Madrid’s 2-0 win over Real Betis last week.

“I feel good, physically and mentally,” he said Thursday. “I’m happy where I am and about what I do, and I know it will get even better as the matches go on.”

Italy and France start their Nations League campaigns in the A2 Group that also includes Belgium and Israel. Both the French and the Italians are looking for improvement after their lackluster performances at the European Championship.

Italy were knocked out of the tournament in the last 16 and Mbappé admitted that his tournament had been a failure when France lost in the semifinals and scored just one goal from open play in the competition.

Mbappé sustained a broken nose in France’s opening group game at Euro 2024. In the semifinals, he ditched the vision-restricting mask that he had been wearing but Les Bleus still lost to Spain 2-1.

He said that he has moved on from the disappointment and added that his broken nose didn’t need surgery.
“I underwent exams in Madrid, they told me surgery was not necessary,” he said. “I don’t have any problem to breathe and to sleep.”

Kylian Mbappe faces boos on Paris return over little-known PSG dispute which turned relationship sour

Kylian Mbappe makes his return to the Parc des Princes on Friday but his reception might not be something he’s been accustomed to.

The forward will captain France in the Nations League clash with Italy in familiar territory and a little over two months after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

Mbappe sealed a switch to ‘dream club’ Real Madrid this summer bringing an end to one of football's most anticipated and predictable transfers.

The 25-year-old spent seven seasons at his hometown club but much of his time in the French capital was overshadowed by endless speculation about his future.

Despite the tiresome links and Mbappe’s failure to address them, PSG fans, namely the club’s Ultras, maintained a good relationship with him and that continued even after the star announced his intention to leave the club in a video posted on social media in May.

Within an hour of the video going live, Mbappe arrived at the Parc des Princes for a pre-arranged barbeque and a public address in the stadium’s famous Virage Auteuil stand – home of the Collectif Ultras Paris.

It split the fanbase. The Ultras appeared only too keen to toast the club’s all-time top scorer and greatest player to wear rouge et bleu, however some supporters housed in the remaining three stands tentatively vented their displeasure.

Despite an admission of the club's failures in their management of Mbappe, their issue was that a player who had been afforded everything in Paris, probably too much, had gone against his word of never leaving the club on a free transfer.

On top of that, Mbappe’s form had dipped in the second half of the season, something that continued into this summer’s Euros as France crashed out in the semi-final to eventual winners France.

On Friday, Mbappe makes a premature return to the Parc des Princes in a game that would have otherwise been played at the Stade de France but for the Paralympic Games in the French capital.

This time, there will be no hot-dog filled PSG ultras at his beck and call, only national team fans and those of the French giants.

Reports in France claim Mbappe is at risk of a hostile greeting at his old stomping ground, something that does not appear to faze the World Cup winner.

“The reception? I don’t expect much. I don’t care. The important thing is to win,” Mbappe told his press conference on Thursday.

“I feel good physically and mentally. I’m happy where I am and about what I do and I know it will get even better as the matches go on.

Since Mbappe’s departure, his standing has slightly soured in Paris, not helped by an ongoing dispute over wages from last season.

The star claims PSG withheld his wages amounting to a whopping £46million plus substantial bonuses.

It was linked to an arrangement between Mbappe and senior figures at the club to reintegrate the player back into the first team picture last summer, after he refused a move to Saudi Arabia as PSG desperately tried to recoup funds to prevent him leaving on a free.

During the agreement, the player agreed to relinquish a portion of his owed bonus to fill the financial void after PSG paid Monaco £160m for his services in 2017. But he has since appeared to change his mind.

French daily L’Equipe reported that the two parties will meet before the legal commission of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) on September 11, to resolve the matter.

Mbappe and his representatives contacted the LFP’s legal commission to fast track the dispute and claim the owed funds.

Whilst both Mbappe and PSG have seamlessly parted ways and made solid starts to their new respective eras, fans are somewhat justifiably miffed at Mbappe’s U-turn.

Moreover, in a season that has seen French football suffer from an underwhelming domestic and international television deal due in-part to the departure of its final world-class star.

But out of the darkness comes light for PSG with the emergence of Bradley Barcola whose sparkling form has helped in moving on from Mbappe.

The 22-year-old has netted four goals in his first three games for the French champions and looks set to start against the Italians.

Pressed on Barcola’s early-season form Mbappe talked up his former PSG teammate saying: “I am happy for him, he’s a very good guy.

“His potential is huge. He is going to play great games and he can do even better. What he’s doing is great, I’ve seen his games.”

Mbappe rejects French league mediation proposal in PSG salary row

Kylian Mbappe’s entourage said on Wednesday they had refused the French football league’s (LFP) offer to act as a mediator between the France captain and Paris Saint-Germain in their dispute over unpaid wages and bonuses for the striker, the club announced on Wednesday.

Mbappe claims PSG owe him 55 million euros ($60.6m) which the Parisians say the 25-year-old had agreed to waive in August 2023.

The Real Madrid forward has demanded the figure which includes his signing bonus which he was expecting to receive in February, his three final months of salary as well as an “ethical bonus” covering the period.

Lawyers representing the two parties met early on Wednesday after Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid this summer, had referred his case to the LFP’s legal committee.

The league then made the proposition to mediate.

“Paris Saint-Germain is very pleased with today’s two-hour hearing before the commission,” PSG said.

“The club recalled that the player has made clear repeated public and private commitments that must be respected, having been afforded unprecedented benefits by the Club over seven fantastic years in Paris.

Real Madrid forward Mbappe suffers thigh injury

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe faces a spell on the sidelines because of a thigh injury.

The France international, who joined the Spanish club in the summer after his contract with Paris St-Germain expired, scored in a 3-2 win against Deportivo Alaves on Tuesday before being substituted after 80 minutes.

Speaking after the game, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "He's fine - a little overloaded. He asked me for the change to avoid problems."

In an update on Wednesday, Madrid said that "following tests" the 25-year-old "has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg" and "his progress will be monitored".

Real Madrid are away in a league match at Atletico Madrid on Sunday and then play Lille in the Champions League and Villarreal in the Spanish top flight prior to the October international break.

Mbappe had scored six goals in seven games for the Bernabeu club before sustaining his injury.

Mbappe out of France squad despite injury return

Kylian Mbappe has been left out of the France squad for upcoming Uefa Nations League matches despite returning from injury this week.

The Real Madrid forward missed the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Sunday with a thigh injury, but came off the bench during a surprise 1-0 defeat to Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Despite recovering from the issue, France head coach Didier Deschamps has not selected the 25-year-old for matches against Israel and Belgium.

"I had an exchange with Kylian. He has a problem which is not serious. I am not going to take risks, which is why he is not in the squad," Deschamps told reporters in Paris.

Mbappe has scored seven goals in 10 appearances since joining Real Madrid in the summer.

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe hits out at reports of rape allegation

Kylian Mbappe's representatives have hit out at "totally false and irresponsible" accusations after claims the football star is under investigation for an alleged rape.

It follows reports that police in Sweden are looking into allegations made against the Real Madrid forward after he visited Stockholm last week.

Swedish prosecutors have confirmed a probe had been opened into an alleged rape at a hotel in the city, but did not identify the suspect.

In response to the reports, a spokesperson for the player said: "A new slanderous rumour is starting to ignite the web.

"These accusations are totally false and irresponsible, and their propagation is unacceptable."

They added: "Kylian Mbappe will under no circumstances tolerate his integrity, reputation and honour being sullied by unfounded insinuations."

On Monday, the French World Cup winner also posted a link to a French media article related to the reports, alongside the words: "FAKE NEWS".

He added: "It's getting so predictable..."

Swedish public broadcaster SVT, along with newspapers Expressen and Aftonbladet, earlier reported that the 25-year-old was a suspect in the case.

Mbappe doesn't seem that type. He seems like a good bloke.

I hope the accusation is false.

Kylian Mbappe must learn to play as a central striker at Real Madrid because he will not be able to displace Vinicius Junior on the left, the club's former forward Karim Benzema says

France star Mbappe, who joined Real after his Paris St-Germain contract ended in July, has eight goals in 14 appearances for his new club but has scored just once in his past five games.

The 25-year-old's favoured position is on the left wing but manager Carlo Ancelotti has kept Brazil international Vinicius in that position, forcing Mbappe to play centrally.

"The problem, in my opinion, is that [Mbappe] is not a central striker, even with the national team, every time he plays as a number nine he doesn't feel right, because that's not his position," former France striker Benzema said on Spanish television show El Chiringuito., external

"On the left, he's got a guy who's at the same level as him, Vinicius, so there is a problem, you can't play Vinicius as a number nine or on the right, because when he plays on the left he makes the difference in every game.

"Mbappe isn't a real number nine. People ask a lot of him and he's under a lot of pressure, this isn't Paris St-Germain."

Benzema is Real's second-highest scorer of all time, behind Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Frenchman won the Ballon d'Or when at the club in 2022 before signing for Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad last year.

The 36-year-old, winner of five Champions Leagues and four La Liga titles during 14 seasons at the Bernabeu, warned Mbappe that "if you go two or three games without a goal, you're going to have a lot of problems".

In addition to scoring just once in the past five games, Mbappe failed to make an impact as Real's 42-game unbeaten run in La Liga was ended by a painful 4-0 home defeat by rivals Barcelona.

Team-mate Vinicius came second to Manchester City midfielder Rodri in the voting for the men's Ballon d'Or last month - awarded to the best footballer of the year.

On his advice to Real's present number nine, Benzema said: "Don't give up, because I don't think he's going to push Vinicius to move. He's the best player in the world at the moment.

"Mbappe needs to get it into his head that today he's a number nine, and forget about the left flank for a while."

Kylian Mbappe left out of France squad for Nations League as Didier Deschamps cites 'one-off decision'

Kylian Mbappe has been left out of France's squad for November's Nations League games, despite coach Didier Deschamps saying the Real Madrid player "wanted to come".

Deschamps did not say whether Mbappe, who played in a 3-1 Champions League defeat to AC Milan on Tuesday, was injured.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Deschamps said he had made a "one-off decision".

"It's my responsibility to make decisions. I think it's better that way," the coach added ahead of games against Israel on November 14 and Italy three days later.

Mbappe, who joined Real after his Paris Saint-Germain contract expired in July, missed two France games last month as a precaution after injury.

Deschamps said the decision was not related to allegations made against the player by a Swedish newspaper regarding a trip he made to the country during the previous international break - reports Mbappe himself said were "fake news" and which his representatives described as "totally false and irresponsible".

"I'm not going to argue," Deschamps said.

"What I can tell you are these two things; one, that Kylian wanted to come. And two, it's not the extra sporting problems that come into play since the presumption of innocence exists and must exist.

"It's a one-off choice for this gathering."

Mbappe has scored eight goals in 15 appearances for his new club, but has netted just once in his past six games to draw scrutiny.

The 25-year-old has struggled to make an impact in high-profile fixtures, with Vinicius Jr instead being deployed in the Frenchman's preferred position on the left of the attack.

Real lost 4-0 to Barcelona last month and trail their rivals by nine points in LaLiga.

Mbappe 'down but motivated' at Real Madrid - Ancelotti

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappe is "down" but has the determination to come through a difficult period, says manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The 25-year-old France forward, who joined Real on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain in July, has struggled for form since arriving at the Bernabeu.

Mbappe has scored eight goals in 15 appearances for the La Liga club, but has only netted once in his past five games.

Real, who won the Champions League and La Liga last season, were beaten 4-0 by rivals Barcelona last month and trail the Catalans by nine points in the league.

"Mbappe is down like everyone else, but motivated to get through this moment," Real boss Ancelotti told a news conference.

"The problem he's having is everyone's problem. You could point at Vinicius [Junior], Rodrygo or [Jude] Bellingham. It is a difficult moment for everyone."

Rape inquiry linked by Swedish media to Mbappé closed

Prosecutors in Sweden have closed an inquiry into a case of alleged rape, which Swedish media had linked to French football captain Kylian Mbappé.

Marina Chirakova, of the Swedish Prosecution Authority, said the investigation into an alleged attack reported to have taken place in Stockholm had ended due to a lack of evidence.

The Real Madrid player, one of football's most high-profile stars, was never formally named by Swedish prosecutors or notified by them of being under suspicion of a crime.

In October, when the allegations surfaced, Mbappé's lawyer said her client was preparing to clear his name with a claim for defamation. Mbappé previously described the reports as "fake news".

Senior prosecutor Ms Chirakova, who headed the preliminary investigation, deemed the evidence "not sufficient to proceed further, and the investigation is therefore closed".

The alleged rape and two cases of sexual harassment reportedly took place in a hotel in the Swedish capital on 10 October.

Several Swedish media outlets, including newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen, and public broadcaster SVT, named Mbappé as a suspect.

He had been visiting Stockholm at the time.

Police were seen visiting the Bank hotel where he had stayed, with officers later leaving with bags. One report said they had taken clothing from the hotel in evidence.

On Sunday, speaking for the first time about the case on French TV show Clique, Mbappé said he was "not involved".

"I haven't received anything, no summons... I'm not involved."

His lawyer previously condemned the Swedish media reports as defamatory and said that nothing was known of the complaint.

"[Mbappé] is never alone. He is never put in a position where he ends up in a situation that would lead to him taking a risk," Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard said.

The Real Madrid forward this week scored his 50th Champions League goal. He transferred from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) earlier this year.

He won the World Cup as a teenager, in 2018, in Russia and scored a hat-trick in the 2022 final in Qatar - which France lost on penalties to Lionel Messi's Argentina.

At PSG, he was part of a superstar trio with Messi and Brazilian forward Neymar.

Last year, the Paris-born star finished in third place for the Ballon d'Or and Best FIFA Men's Player prizes.

Mbappe a doubt for Intercontinental Cup final with thigh injury

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been diagnosed with an injury to his left thigh, making him a doubt for next week's FIFA Intercontinental Cup final.

Mbappe was replaced during the first half of Madrid's 3-2 win at Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, having given his side the lead with a 10th-minute goal.

Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said afterwards that Mbappe had suffered ischial (lower pelvis) discomfort, adding that he did not believe it to be a serious injury but Los Blancos would need to wait for the player to be examined.

The club have since announced: "Following tests carried out on Kylian Mbappe today by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a thigh injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored."

Mbappe, who also scored in last weekend's 3-0 win over Girona but has endured an inconsistent start to life at Madrid, looks set to miss Saturday's LaLiga game at Rayo Vallecano, and now faces a race to be fit for the Intercontinental Cup final in Qatar.

Madrid will face the winner of Saturday's tie between Pachuca and Al Ahly on December 18.
