Lack of talent in Australia?

I was looking at the scorecard for the 2nd test vs India and noticed something quite remarkable.

First Class stats
Out of Australia's top 7 batsmen none have an average over 44, and only 2 have an average over 40, Khawaja and Marsh.

Out of India's top 7 batsmen 4 have an average over 50, with the other 3 averaging above 43 in First class.

Combined batting average of Australia's current top 7: 37.44

Combined batting average of India's current top 7: 51.60

On average an Indian batsman will make 14 more runs than an Australian batsman judging by the FC stats, 14x7= 98 more runs in an innings. I know cricket doesn't work like this but this is still pretty shocking.

This is the weakest Australian batting line up ever to play Test cricket. Aaron Finch opening, Tim Paine Captaining. This Australian Batting Team can be compared to the Amir Khan movie Thugs of Hindustan

Tim Paine isn't the worst keeper/batter or captain in Aus. The situation has made him the captain much like Misbah got his go at the helm. Paine is performing as a batter since his recall in Ashes, and his leadership isn't that bad.
Regarding batting, I remember since 2010-11 Ashes, it was a very well known fact that there were very few guys who were averaging over 40 in FC. Khawaja, Voges, Smith, Warner, Clarke, Hughes, Burns and Ferguson (in a few seasons) were the only ones. Out of which, Clarke was the leader, Hughes' technical deficiencies were being exploited to the fullest at international level courtesy Chris Martin. Khawaja was raw, Smith wasn't seen as a Test level batter and Voges was considered too old.
They tried each of them and most of them came good for atleast a period except Burns and Ferguson(who wasn't given a fair chance). Hughes would definitely have had overcome his weaknesses if not for his tragic demise.

Out of bowlers, on paper, Aus have a pretty good lot. The current trio of Starc, Hazlewood, Cummins are backed by an experienced and aging Siddle and Tremain. Although I like the look of Chad Sayers(a brilliant new ball and old ball bowler and someone who can swing and seam the ball but Australia's infatuation with pace holds him back). Apart from them, they have the likes of James Pattinson(before remodelling was considered the best Test bowler from the quartet), Jason Behrendorff(quite underrated), Scott Bolland, Trent Copeland(a solid defensive bowler who gives nothing away and a good lower order bat but lack of pace again), Jackson Bird, and the upcoming Jhye Richardson and Billy Stanlake.

So their pace stocks are pretty good. It's about batting that worries. Handscomb and little marsh aren't the Test class I feel.
They can try Tom Cooper or Matt Renshaw or even James Burns in the middle order. They can also try the promising Jake Lehmann in the middle order before the impending returns of Smith and Warner.

Take out the averages of India's two best batsmen and compare them.
