What's new

Lahore Qalandars (174/4) defeat Karachi Kings (170/7) by 6 wickets in Match 6 of PSL 7

After the start Karachi got, I thought they would cross 200.

Lahore came back strongly.

Outscoring him 3 games means nothing as form is temporary & class as your know Babar is permanent, but the fact that you observed this particular innings by Babar as the worst you’ve ever seen says all about your expertness .. keep diverting I rest my case 👋🏽

Hiding behind Sharjeel.

Letting Nabi take the strike instead even though he’s set.

Getting out after wasting 30 balls.

Terrible innings for an opener. ACCEPT IT.

Also, not the first time he’s played an innings like this, he’s done it many times before in international cricket.

Fakhar 31 from 16 balls , just the kind of innings you want from opener , takes the pressure off the middle order

SIX SIX

Just what was required , Fakhar taking on the bowling here

In Fakhar we trust.

As long as he's out there - LQ should win.

Very well done Fakhar Zaman.

Shows why he is still the best aggressive top order batsman for Pakistan

What is the purpose of Muhammad Taha in the team if he was not sent in to bat ? What kind of batsman was this from babar

People like Samit Patel, Gregory etc, what do they add? Every season they get picked

Sammit with a selfish inning. Should never go to 7 from 7 if he is aggressive. They have plenty of hitters left Dunk, Wiese and Rashid.

Shaheen Afridi | Lahore Qalandars captain: The plan was to play positive cricket and show intent. We wanted to go for wickets and Rashid especially did a great job in between. Then Haris also bowled well. Yes, we have a good attack and all bowled well. Senior players are helping me (in captaincy), mistakes can happen from me, so they are there to guide me. The way Fakhar has improved daily, credit is fully his. Hope that he can keep continue doing this for us and Pakistan.

Babar Azam | Karachi Kings captain: We had a good start with the bat, utilised the powerplay well but we didn't get the needed partnerships after that. I thought it was still a good score. Fakhar played outstandingly for them, credit to him. There was some grip and hold for the spinners. The pacers weren't able to execute their variations at the end. We need to field better, and take those half-chances which can help us win games.

Fakhar Zaman | Player of the Match: I'm just trying to take it one ball at a time. Not trying to do anything different from what I used to do earlier. It was gripping for their spinners, so I took that chance (in Imad's final over). You can always get those big wickets if you have wickets in hand. I'm getting more and more aware of my game, so it's helping me to avoid those overaggressive slogs.

Lahore Qalandars secured a dominating win over Karachi Kings, thanks to a fantabulous century by Fakhar Zaman. The left-hander’s 106 off 60, which was embellished with 12 fours and four sixes, helped Lahore chase down 171 with four balls spare.

Other performers:

Kings opener Sharjeel Khan smashed an electrifying 39-ball 60 to provide his side a solid opening stand of 84 in 10.1 overs with Babar Azam, who made 41 off 33. Sharjeel crunched eight fours and three sixes.

Qalandars pacer Haris Rauf had an impressive outing with the bowl, as he returned three for 33 – accounting for Lewis Gregory, Sahibzada Farhan and Imad Wasim at death, denying the opposition the opportunity to finish on a high.

Quotes:

Fakhar Zaman – It is a great feeling to have scored my first century in HBL PSL. What makes this even more special is the fact that I have scored it in a high-pressure match and helped my side win it. Lahore Qalandars versus Karachi Kings rivalry is the life of the HBL PSL and the pressure of this contest does get to you. But, in the end, I am happy that I delivered for my team and we have gotten our first win of the season. There are many more to come, of course. Personally, I am happy to have started this season on a good note. The aim is to build on the start I have gotten and get more wins for my team.

Scores in brief:

Karachi Kings 170-7, 20 overs (Sharjeel Khan 60, Babar Azam 41, Joe Clarke 24 not out; Haris Rauf 3-33)

Lahore Qalandars 174-4, 19.2 overs (Fakhar Zaman 106, Samit Patel 26 not out, Mohammad Hafeez 24; Umaid Asif 2-30)

I am disappointed with Abdullah Shafique. There was no need to go for a big shot early on.He is following Haider Ali.
