Time for a new smiley...

: sarf_facepalm

use at will :D

Finally Shafique also coming to the party

Don’t need another accumulator coming through in the top order

Hassan Ali having a nightmare in PSL7 so far.

Being smashed again to all parts.

Shafique another good opener coming through the ranks , fakhar carrying on the form, this is the future for pakistan don't need to go back to these ttfs anymore.

This is the best T20 opening partnership I have seen in this PSL so far by two Pakistani batsmen.

-looking aggressive and ready to put away anything loose
-no unnecessary emphasis on looking for singles, rather taking them because they have missed out on a boundary due to a good ball.

Excellent stuff

This could be an alternative opening pair for Pakistan. And it could be as good as our main pair, if not better.

Shafique just cant take it up that one notch! Almost got to a fifty and missed that chance

Fakhar is good enough to stand and hit sixes on spinners

Why does he have to make an extra effort by dancing down the track and losing his shape?!

Abd is a serious talent

Imam days are numbered in ODIs since Shan and Abdullah are better strokeplays and technique.

Brilliant innings by Abdullah Shafique.

Batting of the highest quality

This was nice.

Definitely. Problem is we have too many white ball openers. And frankly opening is easy in LO cricket. What we need are solid middle order players.

lol Things are different when you have to deal with Archer, Nortje, Cummins etc instead of Hassan Ali in PSL.

Please don’t be fooled by Shan’s PSL batting, he will be clueless against the best quality bowlers at International level

Fakhar was poor after the powerplay. Struggling against pace off!

Mickey Arthur was absolutely right about Shadab

He is the natural leader of Pakistan. He will become the T20 captain and that too for a long time

Spin has destroyed Lahore..need to use their brains shud have milked the apinners and assault later

What a mess LQ have made of this.

They knew that spin would be the threat and instead of looking to milk the spinners, they've tried to thrash them and have collapsed.

Shadab simply brilliant but I like to see how Rashid Khan will do as well.

Hassan Ali forgetting that he's supposed to bowl to his field.

He's giving LQ a lifeline.

180 should be enough if Shaheen knows how to utilise himself and Rashid Khan properly

Why is Hasan Ali considered to be an untouchable member of the team. Pakistan needs to find another bowler in T20s. Time to bin him.

Looks like 1 or 2 of the IU players are sulking in the field.

Lahore Qalandars:

73/0 from 6 overs
174/9 from 20 overs

101/9 in the last 14 overs

And Waqas Maqsood repays the trust brilliantly. 3 wickets and 7 runs in the 20th over

Hassan Ali either needs a break from cricket or move on from T20 indefinitely.

I’m really starting to like Shadab the captain. Any other autopilot captain would have given Hassan the 20th over

Hales gone - needed a good start from him.

This is brilliant from Shaheen. Islamabad have the firepower to recover at any time however!

So good Shaheen Shah Afridi

To think many on this Forum were doubting Shadab just because he had bad form during his injury days. One of the most valuable players in world cricket, good in all facets.

Time for him to re-invent himself as an all-rounder in this format of the game. Take a month off, go to the academy, practice batting with Yousuf and come back again. His hitting is insane, he just needs to be more serious about it.

Where can sky sports viewers watch PSL? They are playing the u19 World Cup final

two channels dedicated to netball but not a single one for PSL!

The best thing that is going to come out of this PSL is the mental growth that Shadab and Shaheen would have by captaining their respective sides. Clearly these both have a long future with Pakistan cricket and this experience will only help that.

Azam and asif badly exposed in front of good pace... Poor hackers of medium pacers and spin bowlers

I stopped watching as IU were cruising.
What on earth happened there?

LHQ 174/9 (20)
ISU 166/5 (20)

Lahore Qalandars won by 8 runs

Azam khan happened......

Islamabad deserves it, this is what you get when you pick a fat player who cant strike the ball....

Asif ali i wont blame him because he has won us many matches in past, not his day today.

Credit to that zaman khan...

Really disappointed, but zaman khan deserves respect along with harris rauf who bought them in. Shaheen also bowled well.
Overall good captaincy by shaheen

Azam Khan is a poor quality spinner basher. He was lucky that he got Afridi pies in the last match

Good captaincy by shadab today. Bowled mubasir 4 overs, he himself bowled much better today and batted good to..

He was 45, but he didnt play for his 50, he took shots and risk

I hope this ends Azam’s run. Criminal performance, especially when IU bat to number 10. Unless he has health issues, he has no excuse to be in that poor shape after all these years

Asif and Faheem should have come in eary.

This maych was lost only because of azam khan being fat.. this is not even funny amymore. The guy cant run two
Everyone has to slowdown for him

Well this should be the end for Azam Khan for this season.
You simply shouldn't be losing games from that position.

Genuinley stopped watching to go out for a bit thinking it was all over.

What a shocker from IU. What the hell happened?

Shaheen on Zaman

"I have a lot of trust in Zaman Khan and this kid is proving me right and is improving day by day, he is trying hard to bowl well in nets"

"I told him to enjoy his cricket and that it didn't matter about the result but credit does go to him for his performances"

Isb deserves it... This is what happens when azam khan is selected..

Expert spin hitter but cant even bat against pacers. We have gurbaz siting on the bench who can keep and bat as an overseas. We also have akhlaq as keeper.

But nope we wilk play a fat keeper who cant run or bat

Shaheen is a chil guy. He went to zaman laughing saying haan bhai karlay ga defend. Asking him jokingly....

Chill guy placed trust on the kid and let him do what he wanted.

Good captaincy by him, that deserves respect

Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Zaman Khan (player of the match) produced a stunning final over conceding a mere three runs with 12 needed for a win by Islamabad United to earn a thrilling win for his side in the 12th fixture of the HBL Pakistan Super League 7 played at the National Stadium, Karachi on Saturday.

The right-arm pacer dismissed Asif Ali (14) on the penultimate ball of the match before bowling a dot ball to Faheem Ashraf to seal his side’s dramatic eight-run win.

Zaman’s heroics helped Qalandars overcome Shadab Khan’s outstanding all-round contribution in the match. The United captain continued his tournament’s red hot form with bat and ball but failed to take his side to victory.

After producing a four-fer with the ball which took him to the top of the season’s wicket-takers list, Shadab scored 52 with the bat (32 balls, two fours, four sixes) adding 100 runs for the third-wicket with Colin Munro who followed up on his player of the match performance against Quetta Gladiators in the previous match with 60 off 45 balls (five fours, three sixes).

Shadab who collected a five-fer in United’s win against the Gladiators, produced another quality spell to finish with figures of 4-0-20-4.

Qalandars have now won three out of their four matches and have jumped to the second spot on the points table behind Multan Sultans. United have won two and lost two out of their four matches.

Other performers

Put into bat – the 26th consecutive time a captain opting to field first after winning the toss in an HBL PSL match at the National Stadium, Qalandars lost their way after a blazing 83-run start provided by openers Abdullah Shafique (44 off 24 balls, six fours, one six) and Fakhar Zaman (38 off 27 balls, four fours, one six).

From 83 for no loss, Qalandars crashed to 98 for five in a space of 23 balls with United bowlers led by Shadab running through the batting order.

Harry Brook (37) and David Wiese (20) revived the Qalandars innings with a 51-run sixth-wicket stand. Qalandars finished their 20 overs at 174 for nine, left-arm pacer Waqas Maqsood picked up four wickets in the death overs as Qalandars aimed for some big runs.

Player of the match Zaman Khan: “I just tried to enjoy the final over as asked by Shaheen Shah Afridi and before I knew I had bowled the whole over enjoying myself. I was guided throughout the over by Shaheen who told me what ball to bowl and when and that helped me immensely.”

Scores in brief:

Lahore Qalandars 174 for 9, 20 overs (Abdullah Shafique 44, Fakhar Zaman 38, Harry Brook 37; Shadab Khan 4-20, Waqas Maqsood 4-35)

Islamabad United 166 for 5, 20 overs (Colin Munro 60, Shadab Khan 52; Haris Rauf 2-41)

This PSL should end Hassan Ali's participation in LOI's for Pakistan. He is so pathetic & if we took him to Australia he will once again lose the games for Pakistan.
