Looks a slightly better squad than last time around.

Releasing Azhar Ali is the right move. The addition of Raza Hasan is fantastic for LQ.

Agree it’s a much better side than last year, I’m happy there is not Elliot as other than the bat drop he wasn’t useful. But it’s a bowling heavy team, a weak wickets keeper and no alternate of the local batsmen. Who will bat if Umar Akmal or Fakhar will get injured? I don’t see any local batsmen backup there. I assume Sohail Akhtar is a bowler as the videos uploaded here are of his bowling mainly. I wish they would have picked someone from Imam, Sami or Azhar as a backup.

Tbh Batting is still weak b/c All batsmen have ultra aggressive mood So need a reliable batsman who can anchor the innings

Detailed Announcements from LQ

Lahore– 27th December, 2017: Lahore Qalandars announced Director Cricket of Operations, Aqib Javed as the new head-coach replacing Paddy Upton who will continue to work with Durban Qalandars.

“Aqib Javed was the main man behind the success of our talent-hunt program in 2016 and 2017. I take pride in announcing that Aqib Javed will be the new head-coach of Qalandars. And we expect Aqib to successfully guide the team for the upcoming Pakistan Super League Season” claimed chairman Fawad Rana at the press conference.

In addition to this news, it was also announced that Fakhar Zaman will be the vice-captain of Lahore Qalandars and will work with captain Brendon McCullum. Fakhar was excited with the added responsibility and said:

“I’m thrilled and proud to have this responsibility. I will learn a lot under the guidance of Brendon McCullum and will use my knowledge to guide other players.’’

The announcements were not done yet as Director Cricket Operations and new Head Coach Aqib Javed announced that former Test player Kabir Khan will join Aqib as the Assistant Coach while another former test cricketer Atiq-Uz-Zaman will join as the fielding coach for the upcoming PSL season.
 
Great decision to appoint Fakhar Zaman as vice captain.
A decision I was waiting for.
He will learn so much under Brendon McCullum and will help him to develop as a player.
Now airing for Quetta Gladiators to announce Hassan Khan as Vice captain, Peshawar Zalmi to announce Hassan Ali as vice captain, and Multan to pick a vice captain (Shehzad looks like the most likely option).
Karachi could also announce Babar or Amir as vice captain.
About time our international players were given responsibility

Yes, and he has even removed Lahore Qalandars from his Twitter bio.
But more importantly, Lahore Qalandars have appointed Ateeq Uz Zaman as fielding coach. They were the best fielding side last season. This means Shawn Bradstreet is out too.
 
Fawad Rana seems to be a pretty emotional fellow making hasty decisions instead of perseverance. Paddy Upton is one of the best coaches in the world, not a good choice in my opinion. The whole Qalandars squad appears to be a volatile unit in the mold of Fawad Rana :P

Appointing Fakhar is a good one though.
 
FAKHAR ZAMAN named LQ's vice captain

A person without any technique has been made the vice captain.He wont even have a place in Pakistan team really soon.He will not get a place in LQ lineup in PSL 4.ISLU and KK's captains and vice captains are pretty good picks but Fakhar is totally brainless move
 
With only 2 local batsmen (Umar Akmal and Fakhar Zaman) and Delport/Mathews unlikely to get a game in presence of Mustafiz, it’s a bizarre of Qalanadars to add 2 more bowlers in presence of dozens on bowlers already. Now they have to play matches with 7 bowlers/all-rounders and if someone from Akmal and Zaman gets injured there is no replacement as there is no batsman available even in supplementary category. Heck!!!

Am I the only one who notice this? Or am I missing anything what Lahore plans are for the lower middle order? With Bazz Lynn, Fakhar and Umer I only see 4 batsmen playing unless they play Delport/Mathews every game. But by playing Delport means Fizz and Maclaghlen never gonna get a game.

Any feedback on my opinion would be appreciated as this very very bowling heavy squad looks mind boggling to me!
 
Lahore Qalandars had the first pick in most rounds and still have managed to ruin what was starting to look like a good squad.
They need chris Lynn to be in some awesome form now to go to the knockout stage
 
Kashmir angle being stretched a bit too much with Irshad! hope he is able to play one game atleast
 
So LQ Picked up Anton Devcic to replace Angelo Mathews. Poor pick indeed. Does anyone knows Mathews is not playing PSL at all or will play some matches?
 
I hope Shaheen Shah gets good game time in the PSL... But what a team Lahore have this year.

McCullum, Fakhar, Lynn, Sohail Akhtar, Narine, Umar Akmal can all hit the ball a long way.

Narine, Yasir Shah and Raza Hasan all excellent spinners. Yasir Shah under Baz seems to be a different bowler.

Good fast bowlers in Sohail Khan, Musafizur and McCleneghan, with young seamers in Ghulam Mudassar and Shaheen Shah.

The two young seamers will struggle for game time, which is a shame...

How are Lahore not favourites for the trophy?

The only genuine competition they have this year is IU. Another team who is quickly changing strategy to induct young blood rather than be a safe-haven for golden oldies. (This will most likely be Misbah's last year)

I’m LQ biggest fan but below are the reasons, I don’t see them winner this year again coz of:

1) Weak wicket keeper. Umar Akmal haven’t done keeping for a long time nor he is a specialist keeper.
2) Non-existent lower middle order. We have only 2 local batsmen. Umar and Fakhar. LQ would be playing every match with 7 bowlers/all-rounders. Any injury to Fakhar and Umer would mean a deeper trouble as there are no batsmen even in supplementary list.
3) No batsmen to anchor the innings. Mathews was capable but he is no longer in PSL due to injury. Though Delport and Devcic are in squad but they are unlikely to get a game as LQ has decided to play games with Fizz. With Lynn,Baz,Naraine and Fizz in playing x1 the batting consist of only 4 batsmen.
4) Suhail Akhter looks like a hard hitter but he hasn’t played quality cricket in last 2 years, he has to play every game now due to missing lower middle order.

Lahore has lot of fire power this year, though first 5 are explosive but fragile too. Lets hope Aamir Yamin takes this responbility and come and #5 and anchor the innings. Lahore is a much better team this year due to good bowling lineup and could win the title but not favourite for sure.

Go #Qalandars!!!!

Ramdin is gonna keep wickets
Mustafizur will play only first 3-4 games.
I am optimistic that they will finish 5th this time around

Spotted Rubbani in a pic as well, looks like some members of the LQ development squad are training with the main squad.

Ramdin not gonna get any game. Umar Akmal is the primary Keeper. Bazz, Lynn, Naraine, Fizz/Mitch playing the matches. Delport/Devcic may get some games in absence of Fizz.

Agree with the playing X1 and with "hit and miss" too. But it certainly a team which could win with huge margins on any day. the problem is the weak wicketkeepr and no batsman anchoring the innings.

Lahore Qalandars Grooming Session at N Gents.

Lahore– 14th February, 2018: Identifying talent and developing their skills has always been a top priority for Lahore Qalandars. Under the supervision of legends like Aqib Javed and Inzamam-ul-Haq many youngsters have groomed themselves to be able to showcase their talent to the world.
And, on sidelines of the skill developments, Lahore Qalandars is also working on developing personality of the players.

In one such step, the Lahore Qalandars organized a grooming session for its players at N-Gents by Nabila which is a first-of-its-kind salon for men.

The Qalandars squad enjoyed an exclusive grooming session where the best of the best hair dressers styled them before their departure to Dubai.

“These young boys represent Qalandars and I want that their high spirits for PSL 3 should also reflect in their personalities along with the game,” says Chairman LQ, Fawad Rana.

A very focused and determined Lahore Qalandars squad will be playing its first game on 23rd March, 2018 in Dubai.
 
UPDATE: Bilawal Bhatti ruled out of PSL due to shoulder tear.

Agha Salman will replace him in the LQ squad.

Finally Agha Salman in PSL although it's useless....
LQ have completely lost their senses, how many spinners are they gonna pick, this is ridiculous and poor management.
They will once again attain last position this year also.
Agha Salman won't get any games either.
 
Agha Salman getting an opportunity is great to see but wouldn't bringing in a pacer be more beneficial, they already have alot of spinners in the squad.

He looks more like a batsman than a bowler. i'm happy LQ has a batsmen now in the reserves if any injury happens to Akmal or Fakhar.

Even if he plays as a batsman, he is good enough player to play some match changing innings at 3 down 4 down position. His off spin against left handers will be an added bonus, after Hafeez he is the best off spinning all rounder who can keep it tight against lefties.

Great addition to PSL as well as LQ squad. Hard luck for Bilawal, hopefully he can get well soon and creat impact in domestic cricket.

Yes and it opens a lot of combinations as well which were not possible earlier due to no extra batsman.

With Imran Khan Jr, Ghulam Mudassar, Salaman Irshad in the fast bowling reserves, its good that we have a batsmen now too. Before I was afraid who will play if Umer or Fakhar get any niggles.

As Bhatti was in gold category so I would have selected Mukhtar instead of Agha though.

Also Shaheen Afridi in bowling reserves.

LQ cant select Mukhtar when they already have Bmac, Zaman, Lynn and devich. All of these are top order players so having him just for the sake of it wouldnt have served any purpose.

Though I believe, KK, IU, PZ and QG could definitely have gone for him as 1st choice opener or reserved opener and they dont have a lot of local openers.

Search Agha Salman cricket or if that doesnt work search Lahore Blues 2018 national T20. He played a cruical role in Lahore Blues winning that tournament.

how many fast bowlers do you want them to have they have already a lot and they have only 4 specialist batsman in baz, lynn , fakhar and umar akmal
 
Lahore- 15th February, 2018. After a week of extensive training and interaction with each other, Lahore Qalandars - the most favorite team of the Pakistan Super League - has left for Dubai for the action-packed third season of PSL.

During the camp in Lahore, the players got an opportunity to bond with each other and enhance their cricketing skills prior to their matches.

Head coach and Director Cricket Operations Aqib Javed along with former captain and Qalandars' Advisor Inzamam ul Haq passed useful tips to players for their skill development and shared their experienced with them which would make them true Qalandars - fearless and selfless.

"The players are in high spirits and are hopeful for a great third season of PSL. They have not only trained hard during this camp but have been training at various times throughout the year in our Qalandars Academy. We are all hopefull that this will pay off," said Aqib Javed, Head Coach LQ.

The foreign players of the squad will join team in Dubai in due course.

Might play - LQ has Bilal as offie all-rounder, this guy is actually better than Bilal. Besides, now there are 10 games.

Might be a good choice - have you seen UAE tracks? Hardly 3 pacers will play, that too considering Mustafiz and Yamin is almost certain to start.

I'm not saying it's a bad choice but another fast bowler would have been a good choice because Fizz and Sohail Khan have had injuries before.

Sohail Khan and the Fizz have had injuriy issues in the past. You don't want to relay on them for the whole tournament. It would have been better to have another fast bowler as Bilal Asif is already in the squad to the job Agha has been brought in for.
 
15th February, 2018- CEO Lahore Qalandars, Atif Rana met DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor earlier today and presented him Lahore Qalandars official kit. DG ISPR recognized and praised Lahore Qalandars' efforts in identifying raw talent from Pakistan and developing their skills. He also praised Lahore Qalandars in their continued efforts of promoting Pakistani talent worldwide.

Also, later in the day, Atif Rana met Chairman PTI, Imran Khan and presented him a souvenir. Imran Khan acknowledged Lahore Qalandars' efforts and hard work in promoting cricket in Pakistan and wished LQ well for all their future endaevours.

"It was great meeting up with DG ISPR and Imran Khan. Both of them were very appreciative of our initiatives and acknowledged all the hard work. I thank them from the bottom of my heart," says CEO LQ, Atif Rana.

Once again for the 3rd time they are the first team to reach Dubai for PSL and for the 3rd time they will be first team to go home.
