The area where they are weak is middle order they dont even have 1 good middle order batsman unless you count agha salman and umar akmal

Signing another batsmen would have been better instead of signing Agha when they have someone who will already do his job.

Still expecting LQ to have a good tournament.
 
Fast bowler Sohail Khan, speaking to DawnNews on Monday, expressed hoped that his performance in the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) series would see his team the Lahore Qalandars rising to the top.

Khan was signed by Karachi Kings for the 2017 PSL series and even though he was lauded as the best bowler of the series last year, his team lost the tournament. This time around, however, he plans to change that.

"I was the best bowler [of the tournament] last year, but it didn't help my team," he said. "This year, I will try to help my team win."

Khan also appreciated the management of the team, claiming that there was no pressure on the players.

"The [positive] environment will definitely lead us to good results," he said.

The Qalandars' Shaheen Shah, a 17-year-old bowler who plays for the Pakistan Under-19 cricket team, expressed similar sentiments and said that the camaraderie between the players made "it fun to share the dressing room".

The Lahore Qalandars have lost 11 of the 16 matches they have played across the last two editions of the PSL. On both occasions, they finished bottom of the table.

This year, however, they head into the tournament with a blend of experience and youth. What makes the Qalandars stand out from the rest is their domestic talent-hunt programme which has unearthed potential future stars for Pakistan cricket.

The Qalandars have named Fakhar Zaman as vice-captain in their bid to groom the 27-year-old for a leadership role under the guidance of former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum.

The PSL kicks off on Feb 22 with last year's winners Peshawar Zalmi taking on the Multan Sultans in Dubai.

Any news if Lynn is playing the first game on Friday? I know he is playing Tri nation final on Wednesday so not sure if would be able to make it before Friday?

Qalandars lost to Zalmi badly in a warm up game today. Good to see Umer Akmal in runs, followed by kamran Akmal and Duwayne Smith blistering opening p/ship.
 
Bad news for Lahore Qalandars as reports suggest that Chris Lynn has dislocated his shoulder during the Australia versus New Zealand T20I #Cricket #HBLPSL
 
Doesn't look like that Chris Lynn will play in PSL at all, it looked very serious and he was in terrible pain as per his reaction

Chris Lynn Injured himself today in Tri-series Final
 
Chris Lynn Update

Cricket Australia has confirmed that T20 batsmen Chris Lynn, will return to Brisbane to undergo further assessment after he dislocated his right shoulder midway through New Zealand's innings on Wednesday at Eden Park whilst diving to field the ball.

Speaking on Lynn’s injury, Bupa Support Team Physiotherapist, Alex Kountouris said:

“Chris dislocated his right shoulder after landing awkwardly on it when fielding the ball. His shoulder was able to be put back into place at the ground and he was consequently sent for X-Rays which revealed no major bone injury.

“At this stage Chris will not travel to the Pakistan Super League in Dubai. He will return to Brisbane to undergo further scans and assessment and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return to play timeframes.”

Speaking on his injury, Lynn said: “I’m disappointed to not go to the Pakistan Super League as planned, but I’ll now focus on rehabilitation and working as hard as I can, with the hope to still take part in the Indian Premier League later this year.”
 
Maxwell? He isnt gonna play in SA tests also Miller.

Malan is a part of England squad for NZ ODIs and T20Is
Maxwell, Finch and D'Arcy Short are very good options if they are willing to play, Miller is a good Option for PSL product not for LQ as he is useless against spin.

Finch should be willing to play, I dounbt he is gonna be selected in Shield matches anyways.

Finch has played just three matches as of now.

Darcy Short hasnt played a single Shield match this season so its highly likely that he is gonna be free.

Agha Salman is pretty good with the bat as well. Some people underestimate his batting skills.

Abid Ali is an opener, Lahore has already got the opening slots covered with Zaman and Mcculum and if need Delport and Narine can also open the innings.

Incorrect. Dawid Malan isn't in the ODI squad to play NZ. The tests don't start till 22nd March. So he would be avaliable for most of the tournament.

Malan is not the part of ODI series at least. I just checked the squad.
 
C Lynn is a major loss - he was among very few overseas players, who is a starter of a major T20I team in PSL. LQ is a top heavy team, therefore Lynn's absence would hurt more. If not picked by WI, Jason Mo was a good option.

TBH Qalanders was probably the worse team that he could have gone to because they easily have the best spin bowling unit in the competition.
Cant see him getting game time over Naraine and Yasir tbh

May be due to the nature of WI wickets, but he is an explosive hitter. Another reason can be that he is a slow starter, often gets out before getting into rhythm. In T20, playing top order in lower half actually doesn't work - No. 5-7 are sort of specialist in T20.

Agree, i doubt if he would get more than 2 games this season.
 
Not sure who is left out/added from the squad listed on first page, but as of now, Raza should make the starting XI because of Yamin. In UAE 1.5 pacer is fine, 2.5 is perfect.

If they play Yamin and Sohail Khan, Shaheen Shah - that's enough space for the 3 spinners. Mustafiz isn't going to stay after 03 March. Since Narine is there, Bilal shouldn't start.

No issues, but just to clarify that Raza and Raja are not same, they are different names and different meanings.

Yes was wrong there, he was in the squad as cover for Ben Stokes but Stokes has joined squad so he is no longer part of squad.

Cricket Australia Sports Science Sports Medicine Manager, Alex Kountouris provided the following update on Chris Lynn today:

“Chris has undergone scans which confirmed some of the expected signs of a shoulder dislocation including bleeding in the joint along with some cartilage and ligament damage.

“After consultation with a specialist, at this stage we have confirmed that Chris does not need to undergo stabilisation surgery on his shoulder.”

“He will now undergo extensive rehabilitation to give us a better idea of how his shoulder will cope with return to normal function, with a view to being available to play in the IPL and the short-form series in the UK in June.

“We will have a better understanding of how possible this will be in a few weeks, once we know how he is responding to the rehabilitation.”

This confirms he is out of the PSL.

We need to look for a replacement. And Danish Ramdin is not that.

So, it seems that this unit will probably finish at the bottom once again because of poor planning.

Batting unit looks a bit brittle. Fakhar is good but McCullum is past his prime and looks out of touch. Cameron Delport also looks out of shape. Umar will play a good innings in 3 innings but is not dependable at all. Sohail Akhter has potential. But overall, the batting lacks depth and a responsible figure in the middle. You can't depend on this batting unit after Lynn got injured.

Bowling unit is better than the last time but has weaknesses too. Fiz won't be available for very long, Bilawal , Imran Khan or Sohail Khan are not T20 specialists. Shaheen has potential but looks unripe at this stage.
And you don't need 3 specialist spinners here. That's over doing a bit.

Lahore need to think and plan well to do well in the coming matches.

I like this more. But still this middle order is very weak.

I think Lahore has the worst planning staff.
 
They need to find a fast bowler fast to save their skins. When opposition gets an easy start it becomes difficult to win from there. Islamabad United and Peshawar have won in the past because of their good bowling attacks and not batting.
Islamabad had Irfan, Sami (who bowls pretty good at domestic level), experience of Watson, Ruman Raees.
Where as Peshawar had leading PSL wicket taker Wahab and Hasan Ali.

Where as Lahore never had one good fast bowler in their ranks. They are always chasing the game for that. Spinners have their limitations in the death overs or with the new ball.
 
I really like lahore qalandars team, they are probably my team for the tournament :P. However their lower order needs to improve/some changes in selection? Love that they have a lot of firepower up at the top.
 
Losing Chris Lynn this close to the tournament was definitely a downer

We need to get a replacement ASAP, the batting lineup is too brittle

Unfortunately, Lynn getting injured ruined the team composition.

If he slots in at no. 4, then that top 4 looks class and powerful.

Need to bring in a proper batsman to replace Lynn.

Yeah apparently he was called in earlier, he was supposed to come I think on March 1st, replacing Mustafizur (I think).

Let's be real, Ramdin is no replacement for a player like Chris Lynn. Lahore needs to get there act together and get a proper replacement.

I think they should get Klassen in.
