Lahore Qalandars defeat Quetta Gladiators by 37 runs in 16th match of PSL 5

Where the Anwar Ali clan at?

Told you - he has only one shot - cow corner slog.

and he is out... dont know why but the hate i have for Anwar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Khurram Manzoor, Akmal Brothers and Haffez is just unparalel

Anwar sobber ali 20 in a solitary over he bowl and now typical leg side slog to get out without doing anything significant.

Form is temporary class is permanent

Quetta is a good side but not very effective on the flat Pakistani pitches. They are too reliant on Watson and Roy upfront.

Qalandar needs atleast 30 runs win to improve runrate .Their is outside chance for them to reach final four

Hopefully Cutting will get his chance for Australia in T20Is. Very likable and competent player.

What a turnaround from Lahore Qalanders. Last time I checked, I saw they were going at a run a ball with just 61 runs on the board after halfway through their innings.

It seems Dunk has played what could be the greatest PSL innings of all time.

Some assault this from him and Samit to score 140 runs off the last 10 overs.

Man LQ needed to win this game big and improve their net run rate but they getting spanked by a nobody like cutting this guy is the most useless player ever no wonder Australia never picks him

Imam would be perfect for LQ at number 3. Solid batsmen, Lahori boy and the perfect foil for the explosive hitters like Lynn and Dunk.

Zalmi need to part ways with either him or Amin.

Exactly what I said, nephew is my favorite player

Thats what I have been saying. Swap him and Amin with useless Fakhar. Great value for money.

Haris Sohail has the reputation of being Pakistan’s second best batsman across formats after Babar, but he has been completely invisible in PSL.

I don’t remember a single memorable innings, or who he played for last and when. I think he didn’t get picked this time, and played for PZ and LQ in the past.

He could also be an ideal number 3 for LQ, but his absence in PSL could eventually cost him a place in the national team.

LQs just got lucky. Cuttings could've scored more of Faizan. It was not a good bowling option at this stage.

Sohail Akhtar must be the luckiest cricketer in Pakistan.

He is 34, will never play for Pakistan, has a pathetic record in FC and LA cricket, but is captaining a PSL franchise while the Pakistan T20I captain is not, and the likes of Haris, Imam, Amin etc. can’t get a game.

As a fan of haris he's not a t20 batsmen. But having said that he should have been picked by someone when you consider the likes of khurram, sohail, butt etc are selected.

I'll take Haris any day over Fakhar

their reward is a service to Pakistan. they are unearthing these talents which no other team is interested in.

Then they should not own a team in PSL. Invest money in domestic. They are representing Lahore here not the gully mohallas of Pakistan.

Jeet Gaya Lahore Qalandars.

A record partnership between Ben Dunk and Samit Patel orchestrated Lahore Qalandars’ first HBL PSL 2020 win as they defeated Quetta Gladiators by 37 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Dunk and Patel crafted an incredible partnership of 155 runs, the highest fourth-wicket stand and second highest overall in HBL PSL history, in 73 balls to help Qalandars to a mammoth 209 for five.

Dunk, who batted at one-drop, smashed 10 sixes, the most in an HBL PSL innings, as he scored a blistering 93 at a strike-rate of over 216.

The Australian wicketkeeper-batsman struck Mohammad Nawaz, the left-arm orthodox, four sixes in an over in his 43-ball knock, which also included three fours. For his match-winning innings, Dunk was named man of the match.

From the other end, Patel also scored at a brisk rate which amplified the woes for Gladiators, the defending champions. The all-rounder scored 71 runs from 40 balls, smashing nine fours and two sixes.

The pair had come together with Qalandars struggling at 50 for three after Mohammad Hafeez’s first-ball duck in the eighth over. Their extraordinary power-hitting set alight the crowd filled to the stadium’s 27,000-capacity.

Both batsmen were dismissed by Ben Cutting, who with two wickets for 36 runs in three overs was the most successful bowler for Sarfaraz Ahmed-led Gladiators. Mohammad Nawaz, Fawad Ahmed and Mohammad Hasnain picked a wicket each.

Gladiators faltered right from the onset of their run-chase as they lost three wickets in the Powerplay as Patel and Dilbar Hussain added two and one scalps to their tally.

Gladiators spent their remaining innings looking to rebuild their innings and a late surge by Ben Cutting (53 off 27, three fours and five sixes) gave a ray of hope, but Qalandars’ bowlers continued to strike at regular intervals.

Salman Irshad, who came in as a replacement for Haris Rauf, was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets for 29 runs. Patel, Dilbar and Mohammad Faizan were the other bowlers to have wickets in their accounts as they picked up two scalps each.

Gladiators were bowled out for 172 on the last ball of their innings.

On Wednesday, Lahore Qalandars play Islamabad United at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Scores in brief

Lahore Qalandars 209-5, 20 overs (Ben Dunk 93, Samit Patel 71, Chris Lynn 27; Ben Cutting 2-36)

Quetta Gladiators 172 all-out, 20 overs (Ben Cutting 53, Mohammad Nawaz 24, Shane Watson 23; Salman Irshad 4-29, Dilbar Hussain 2-11, Mohammad Faizan 2-29, Samit Patel 2-31)

Result Lahore Qalandars win by 37 runs

Congrats to LQ for notching up their first win. A strong LQ means a strong PSL.

Wow, just wow! It was a bloodbath, a merciless bloodbath. Some unbelievable hitting by Dunk and also Samit. So happy for Lahore. Good to see them finally winning a match. I hope that they´ve got a kick in the tournament that they were looking for. More teams doing well is good for the tournament of course, which´s why I´m also happy to see Karachi winning a few games.
