What's new

Life without Misbah-ul-Haq... Pakistan still able to score 250!

Misbah did the rescue 911 work for 4 years as a lone warrior, against top teams.

Stopping a collapse and making you win from positions like 20/3 and 50/4 - used to happen in almost every match. I think no one else in history has had to rescue his team so many times.

This team is young and needs to learn to bat under pressure in collapse situations, they're talented and will learn. Just get rid of Shehzad/Shafiq from the top order.

Misbah was a firefighter in New York?

I'm sure most people here could come up with an XI that wouldn't collapse like this.

Why don't Hawkeye realise that this is the same team Misbah had and selected.

He picked Bilal Asif for this tour. He picked Azhar Ali to be his successor. And he constantly picked Asad.

Shehzad before his come back in 2013 was the most overhyped thing on PP, and the next coming of Tendulkar.

Asad was initially hyped as the most technically correct batsman set to score 50 tons.

Nasir Jamshed was the next coming of Saeed Anwar.

They played, showed us what they're capable of, then the next cycle of hype machines began.

- In short, "players out of the team are always better than those playing in the team". A Pakistani syndrome.

You're the one who hypes Bilal Asif, so do others. He failed today, so it's Misbah's fault? :))

Azhar is a top batsman.

Anyway, as I said, most of the young guys are good and talented - will learn how to bat under pressure with time.

But I wouldn't have any of those players in the team...

because he is biased?:uakmal

Totally agree with my little friend Hawk Eye here, Misbah was rather unappreciated when he played. Times like these never, he used to be the lone warrior rescuing teams towards victory. Thank goodness there is still Shobby otherwise there really is no middleover rescuer-finisher in this team anymore.

Time to bump up this thread.

how many times we were able to score 250 and above since Misbah's retirement from the ODIs.

funny you show up when Pakistan batting fails for once..Since Azhar took over, Pakistan has been pretty much scoring above 250 in every game..hence this thread has gone to three pages.

funny that you just showed up to bang me up.

Anyway I just requested for the info which I gathered myself.

16 matches/8Wins/7Lost/1NR .... almost 50/50 ratio ....not bad haan ...yet you say Pakistan batting fail once!

we have scored 250 and above at 11 occasions including 2 times 250 and 5 times between 250 and 270.
given the new rules its not a bad start...right?

I am not against Azhar Ali but we need to figure out how to open with attacking batting.

failed to reach 250 is what I meant from failing which was quite close. They have scored 250 or more 80-85% of the times since Misbah retired which is a very good record.

As you say in your other thread Pakistan is yet to chase @RR5.5 against bigger teams.

Funny how fans cheer for a clown like Afridi and yet a fighter like Misbah is hailed like a villain.

Lol the beautiful thing is our batting lineup was filled with hacks in the WC.

Umar Akmal, Afridi, Maqsood, Shehzad, Jamshed, YK

None of them playing in the ODI's now and our team is doing fantastically well. Haris Sohail was the only other genuine batsman besides Misbah.

None of the threads are made about the hacks mentioned above. The problem lied with Misbah, the top scorer of our side in the WC. LOL :))) Some logic.

Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Srilanka, Zimbabwe again.

You can check our history. We have crossed 250 against the above mentioned sides under Misbah as well.
But you will continue on wearing your tinted glasses.

lol Pakistan still able to score 250+, but now cant even defend it. Atleast beack then thsi guy defended you 200s and 230s

While chasing same results while giving target above 250 can't defend it.

Don't worry there will be more charts and selective stats displayed with colourful graphics to show undeniable proof that Misbah is the root cause of this as well.

Lol at the fears that the ODI team was going to suffer and miss the M

biggest myth. His match losing selfish 40s to make Pakistan reach low scores and then fans excuses that he is doing it for the team was just amazing defense. It was almost Sarfraz level excuses. Really wished there were strong people in the PCB who can take down these people who hijack system and we have to continue with their mediocrity for more time than it should have been.

Misbah played slow not because of the team but because he never had any skills to play better. That should be a universal fact and PCB should have really thought about it before making him batting coach.

Today’s game reminded me of when people used to say that without Misbah, the team wouldn’t even cross 250 runs. Then the same thing was said about Rizwan and Babar – that without them, the T20 team would crumble like a house of cards. But here we are, having won a T20 match without Babar and Rizwan.

moral of the story is Cricket doesn’t rely on any one player.

Yeah we have dismantled the almighty Zimbabwe. Lets cut some 🍰 its party 🎉 time

Good effort by the youngsters babar and Co would have definitely struggled. Can't see rizwan and babar scoring 60+ in powerplays
Saim has come off age and you can see how calm, confident and composed he looks on the crease. He is perhaps the automatic choice as the opener for all formats.

I am not convinced about Omair, Usman, Irfan & Agha though. In my opinion these four would not make the cut for white ball even in Pakistan B side if you strictly go by merit.

The contradiction is that you’re comparing Saim Ayub after he’s played 25 T20s. The others haven’t even played 5 yet. A fairer comparison would be between Saim Ayub during his first 5 games vs these guys.
Usman Khan in particular has done more in his initial games than Saim.
It takes at least 15-20 games for a player to settle their nerves imo

Misbah ruined Pakistan Cricket (Odi & t20)with his tuktuk Mentality. His fan base has 0 knowledge in cricket.

You do have a fair point. Does Pakistan have 15-20 more games to experiment ahead of the Champions Trophy?

I think ODIs we don’t have time to experiment.
In ODIs personally think Agha and Saim are relatively settled. When Babar and Fakhar return, then Saim can open with Fakhar, with Babar, Rizwan, Agha and Kamran forming the middle order. Not sold on Irfan for ODis either and too late to try Usman.

T20s we have time to experiment as the World Cup is 2 years from now.
