There is a common talk among many circles now that constant below par performanxss in ICC tournaments by Pakistan is really causing the young generation in Pakistan to be disillusioned with cricket.

I have many friends who are ardent Pakistan cricket supporters for the longest time but they say their kids and younger ones don't take much interest in cricket as they believe its a lost cause. I myself find it very difficult to explain my 7 year old about cricket because he just wont know who to idolize or see a role model from Pakistan.

What do you guys think is cricket really on a downward decline now where we can see Pakistan population becoming commercially disinterested in the game in the near future?

Pakistani players from previous generations seemed quite passionate. Fans were passionate too. I am referring to players like Shahid Afridi, Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Abdul Razzaq, Ahmed Shehzad, Wahab Riaz, Muhammad Yousuf, Younis Khan etc. It was fun to watch them play.

Current bunch are a bit on the boring side. Only Fakhar and Saim are exciting. Even then, they are not as exciting as players from Shahid Afridi days.

Lol no its not.

Khamkha ke kahaniya.

Cricket was already dieing in pakistan. Whether we won it or not wouldnt had made a difference regardijg crixket hype in pakistan

This has much to do with other pass times mechanism available to new generation. Cricket losing popularity worldwide not just Pakistan as it needs long viewing time, but Pakistani performances have not helped matter to continue to create buzz for cricket in Pakistan.

Well, when you have clowns like Misbah and then Ramiz at the helm of affairs….

What do you expect? They gave Pakistan a crap brand of cricket

dont worry guys... Pssion is coming back soon... Wait for the thrashing that Pakistan is gonna give to MIGHTY BANGLADESH...

I doubt that.

Bangladesh is on a hot streak right now after having won two ICC tournaments back to back and all their major batters firing.

I don't know about other countries but Gen Z in Bangladesh are more into football than cricket. Cricket is mostly popular with millennials (my generation) and boomers.

I think it has a lot to do with BCCICC. They destroyed cricket with overcommercialization and petty politics. :inti

Absolutely everything to do with BCCI. Got nothing to do with the fact that Bangladesh get destroyed by the likes of UAE and are completely talentless.

You can give BCB a BCCI budget and they'll still suck at every aspect of cricket.

It's a problem of basic biology

It is a genetic issue.
Bengalis have great passion for sport but they're not born to be great athletes.

Had India allowed Zia ul Haq to proceed unchecked with his nobel DNA alteration plan for the Bengalis, we could have seen a superior breed of athletes emerging from Bangladesh. Built powerfully like Ijaz Ahmed but with a shrewd Benglali brain like Little Mushfiqur resulting in an unstoppable force.

I understand why there is growing resentment with Indira Gandhi within Bangladesh today.
To be honest current generations are selfish and care more about what they are today rather than what their ancestors went through.

Yesterday Fakhar Zaman’s son was passionately supporting Qalandars. Loved to see it. He’s a talented little player too. You can see it already when he does his little throw downs with his dad or other players

When this kid grows and becomes a cricketer, I can guarantee he will not be a parchi!
