Love at first sight - A Myth or Reality?

Infatuation.

You don't know anything about the person. You get attracted to the physical attributes of the opposite sex.

Love at first sight is a myth.

It is a myth, but it can be a reality for some, and that minority is pretty enthusiastic about spreading this myth. In my case, it happened.

what if you meet a girl for the first time and she seems like perfect in every sense, wheter it's her body or her personality and character and smartness?!

Don't believe in love at first sight. How can you feel about a person without actually knowing them.

Topic is about Love at first sight. Not Love at first Meeting or few meetings.

You cannot fall in love with a person just by looking at them. You don't know who they are. What their physical and mental condition is.

We all fell in love many times before at first sight and later thanked our lucky stars we did not end up with that person.

Funnily most dudes have love at first sight with the most physically attractive person in a class or group. Once you know more about the person, that feeling fades away.

I think it has to be lust at first sight love needs so much more than just sight.

My opinion can be completely wrong.

Exactly.

I think why some people think love at first sight exists is because of the initial infatuation, and then getting to know the person right after wards (Which is where the love part comes in). These people will then say they were in love at first sight. However, to be accurate, they were first infatuated and after getting to know that person and spending time with them, they fell in love.

Similarly, you can have infatuation with someone at first sight, and then get to know them and not like their personality.

Or you have no attraction to a person at first sight, but fall in love once you get to know them.

People love to knit pick about what is lust and what is love. There is no on off switch that suddenly after the 3rd date will tell you " Yes, I am in love!"

Love is a journey. It hardly matters as to when you say it starts. Some times it is when spend hours spend discussing your nerdy topics and just click and you don't want it to end. Sometimes its just a cute little smile that somehow singes your heart from within. That's the start of your journey, you can let it take whatever course you desire.

It might be possible because of the subconscious exchange in pheromones; But it might be lust too. Watch out.

Idk really because I am youngster.

My personality makes it impossible for me to fall in love...not my ego...But I'm kind of a guy who...got it...so its a myth

That is physical attraction, but it can be converted into love.

Most of the time, people confuse love at first sight with love at first interaction. I firmly believe that there is a genuine way someone can fall in love (totally) after interacting with another person for the first time as opposed to only seeing them or admiring them from a far.

I have first hand experience with love at first interaction and I was lucky enough that such a feeling was mutual between both the of us, consequently, following such I had the best two years of my life.

Biologically speaking, love at first sight is the only kind of love there is. Definitely not a myth.

It's actually Lust at first sight but the PR wagon thought Lust is a negative word.

Biologically speaking, at the first sight, humans try to decipher the opposite sex and see if they are in prime condition for having babies. The urge to reproduce is what drives everything.

We look at a very attractive person and tell to ourselves that he/she is great looking. But Unknowingly what we are doing is, we are trying to judge a person's ability to produce healthy offspring to the best of what we can see if reproduction happens with that person.

Seen in Animals too. Hence males strut their coloring/horns/athletic build or fighting abilities to the prospective females and try their best to make a fine first impression.

Just my 2 cents.

I think we want what it feels like to be in love. The feeling of dispensing oneself has its own lust. While what occurs at first sight is an attraction, we give it enough consideration that we begin to believe it as love. With time, it actually transforms into love.

"Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray". (Mowlana Rumi)

It has to be lust. For love, you gotta know the person, have interaction, a conversation first.

Myth. Just a trick the brain plays on you. You marry the person only to realize this love drug eventually wears out and then you start having the same reaction to other women. :farhat

As someone already mentioned, the attraction at first sight is lust or tharak, not love.

No offense to anyone, but have you ever been attracted to a girl at first sight for something other than her looks? I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

It could also be the way a person is conducting themselves. First sight doesn't have to mean the first second only but the first time you see someone.

There are no lovers in this world. Just people who want something in return. For unconditionality, the feature of true love, is not to be found anywhere.

Not sure if you are you trying to contradict me or corroborate me, because you just elaborated on the point I was trying to make. The bond we call love is basically a product of the attraction which makes all animals mate, reinforced by all behaviour that follows the initial attraction.
