Why must we fear America?

Yes they’re a super power with the greatest geographic reach in terms of military deployment, ability to carry out hit missions through warships, airforce and foreign bases. There’s no denying that. But proud nations and civilizations will never bow down.

That being said, let’s not blow mostly trade related fall outs be looked at as military confrontations. Trump’s only major problem with India is that we wouldn’t stop buying Russian oil and are not buying enough American shell. Other issues like not giving credit for ceasefire with Pakistan, not backing him for Nobel, and trade deal related stand offs I think are still smaller matters compared to the Oil purchase thing simply because the size and scale of it in economic terms is gigantic and a real needle mover.

India too doesn’t want to hurt a trade partner way too much. Being proud and sovereign is nice but I think you should be flexible and accommodating towards your trade partners and India is surely doing things behind the scenes to reach an understanding. That’s how we work. Trump respects that. He hates our guts, our rigidity, but he respects our professionalism and our long term thinking.

I believe PM Modi has shown remarkable statesmanship in not taking the bait of subtle provocations in the last few months. Respectable silence but authoritative stance has defined him as a strong global leader.

I can say categorically soon the negative talk will fade, and there will be breakthroughs and warmth back in this relationship. Simply because looking at the bigger picture, both nations know of the importance of this relationship.
 
India can't even handle China. How can they handle USA? LOL.

China literally grabbed 2000 sq km of Indian territory in the last 6 years. India could do nothing.

Hope this is comes to fruition for India’s sake but atm relations are at an all time low under modi’s tenure.

This ex army chap is just doing damage to India . There’s no need for him to a news expert . If trump sees his comments he may abduct the chap via his tash .

I would again reiterate, relations aren’t even that bad, forget being at an all time low. Trump is the kind of fellow who goes after friends harder than foe, that’s how leverage works in his mind. Look at the way he’s gone after even the EU and Canada who are literally part of the US led Western order * NATO. Very soon you will eee them coming to an understanding as well. It’s the time of hard negotiations. Don’t let one man’s daily rhetoric convince you to believe everything is rockbottom low.

As for India, the all time low was during 1971 when US sent warships to help Pakistan but were contested by the Soviets. India-US always had very shaky relations historically. India just isn’t a nation that bends over the way US likes. That’s not what we do. Certainly not after 1000 years of fighting off invaders and colonists.

It’s only from the Bush-Singh era when the the reconciliation process started and since then both nations have made remarkable progress in many areas. It’s no secret India can gain more leverage in Washington by becoming more agreeable but call it our long term vision or rigidity that things look grim for now.

Trump wants theatrics, we prefer real geopolitical alignment. He will come to senses soon or we will wait out 3 more years for someone who will have a better understanding of dealing with India. That’s what we did with Canada, and we now have a visionary gentleman in Canada who’s taken relations with India back on track. Countries are bigger than individuals and there’s no hurry to win favours with individuals. It’s country to country relationship and the continuity of it that’s more valuable to India.
 
This guy is a Godi Media hanger on, no more, no less.

If our military is worth its salt, it should publicly disown him.
 
Sorry but the isnt here isn’t about India being able to last against the US or go toe to toe against the US since we all know the outcome, where India will be wiped off the map.

The issue is the hypocrisy of India/Indians telling Pakistanis that we have a rabid Field Marshal that threatens India with nukes when you have the same with this guy. Either own up to the hypocrisy or denounce this guy.

The dust created by Trump with his aggressive Tariffs and going against India for not kissing his ring. Even if under Trump administration, India-US relations get strained, it will comeback to normalcy once his tenure is over. Just 3 more years. (y)

Nowadays if you don't put them on media someone will put them YouTube or social media. So conventional media has just lowered its standards so they don't lose out.

What astounds me is the confidence and arrogance displayed from a land/people who never conquered anybody , never went outside of the sub continent. And neither is it first world like Switzerland
