We have got at least 21 games in just about 2 months, Sarfaraz being the leader of the side should play all the games. He is clearly not amongst the fittest we have, and his workload during this span is going to be a prime matter of concern.
So, do you guys think that he should not keep in the 5 practice games we have (including 2 WC Warm up games)?. By doing this his workload would be a little less, because being the front line keeper and captain of the side his fitness is pivotal for our cause.

He just had more than a month long rest - needs to get back to business asap.

Good point. There can be a case of Rizwan keeping wickets if picked in the same eleven.

Shows the class of guys like Gilchrist and Dhoni. Playing tirelessly in multiple formats, latter also captaining, for years and years on end, never had Aussie fans or Indian fans give concerns like this other than expect the best.

This guy just had a month long rest, and prior to that he was only on the batting strip for 5-10 balls before being dismissed, yet still needs to be treated like a princess for workload management.

Here’s a suggestion, maybe if he isn’t fit enough to compete at the highest level, he should stop making a mockery out of Pakistan cricket and be booted out at the end of this year if his performances don’t improve.

Sarfraz ki diwanis come at me.

Apart from Dhoni name me someone that has been more successful as captain in tournaments?

Ricky Ponting won 2 WCs and 2 CT.

But let me guess Sarfraz single handily winning the CT and 2006 U19 World Cup is better. :))

Good point raised. Its not only important for Sarfaraz but the bowlers as well that they are properly rested and rotated well if possible leading upto the WC. He can rest for the warm up games if he feels the need though he is just coming from a decent break but still as captain if he feels like it he should be able to manage his own and other team members workload leading upto WC.

21 matches arent gonna be easy especially for the fast bowlers so team management really needs to do its job and manage the team well.

He should have done this long back - play as a specialist bat for few games and allowing Rizwan some games as WK (won't have done worse in place of Asif Butler). He should have definitely play all 5 ODI's against Aussies as No. 4 batsman and Rizwan playing as WK.

Better late than never - I hope Arthur will play him as specialist batsman against Poms, at least couple of games. One good thing is that he has already served the Over-rate ban, so the counter starts from scratch and if fit, he should be available for all 9 games - now PCT has to keep him fit for that.

Rest for a mediocre performer? Hilarious.

This is actually sad that we have to cater to this captain that we has, who neither scores runs, or is the best keeper in the country.

Lead by example, the example of being unfit, not performing, and deflecting blame from ones self.

Honestly one of the worst captains the sport has ever seen. MoYo was a bad leader, but MoYo might be the best batsmen the country has ever seen. What is Sarfraz exactly? The 3-4 best keeper in the nation, and the what 4-5 best run scoring keeper in the nation?

The shock and disbelief when he brings in players like Imad Wasim and Hasan Ali over himself in pinch hit situations is comical. He used one little spell at the world cup where he did decently, a solid spell of clearly keeping his head down and performing, and then won a CT with no work of his own with Fakhar and Hasan Ali single handedly carrying the team, and now thinks he is larger than life.

Inzi was overweight and had his critics, but Inzi was a phenomenal bat. I still say he could have been even better had he just kept himself in shape, but still he performed. Sarfraz is unfit, overweight, and does not perform, and actually has the audacity to put bowlers in front of him, so as to deflect blame.

The fact we are discussing rest for a player who hasn't played in two months, and in the lead up series to the World Cup, where the other squads are set and playing to really get into form, is pretty unfathomable.

Sarfraz is not a batsmen, not a bowler, not a leader, not anything really, and yet there is still so much support and apologists. Unbelievable.

Worded it perfectly. POTW.

Managing what? He hasn't been playing active cricket since PSL. He hardly spends time batting in the middle during international games.

Since Jan 2018:

ODI - 22 balls per innings - 21 ODI's (17 innings)
Tests - 36 balls per innings - 11 tests (19 innings)
T20I - 17 balls per innings - 19 T20I (14 innings)

So he gets to bat in almost all the games and he hardly spends time in the middle. Yes he keeps wicket for Pakistan but why would a captain who has been accused of not contributing enough in the middle need so much break? He should be playing all 5 ODI's against England.
