Manchester United | 2018/19 Season

jagatk Yeah I would love for Jose to stay. Even if he leaves I don't see Man Utd winning the league anytime soon.
Devilsadvokat Jose won't be leaving before the summer. He has spent £400 million on dross to say the least. With that money Rafa would have done a better job at Newcastle.

Not this season but we will win a title before liverpool do, how many years is it now?

We are talking about Jose here. We've still won more European Cups then you.

Here we go with usual liverpool defense it's always 5 times la with you lot. Again when was the last time? Because since then iirc we won enough league titles to beat your number, won multiple league cups an fa cup, even a Europa league. All you scousers talk about is history.

Also I clearly stated not this season while your point was Jose or no Jose we won't be winning in a long time, so how are we talking about Jose?

So if you like telling us about the league then we do about Euro Cups. We have also won the Europa League as well in case it missed you and reached the final of the Euro Cup last season. You are saying that Jose will be sacked in Christmas I believe that he will not. I am talking off everything Man Utd related on this forum as it's about them. Yes, you are not winning anything for a long time with that dross you have. Watch Arsenal spank you later on today adding to your misery whilst we will brush Burnley aside! We have still won more Euro Cups that obviously bothers Man Utd fans being reminded of that:ashwin

I didn't bring the league titles in the discussion you did check your own posts, Also you did not actually win the europa, sevilla beat you in the final, just like city in LC and Madrid in CL.

No you bought the title issue up on post 81, not me. I meant the UEFA Cup not Europa League by the way that we won in 2001. As predicted yesterday you have dropped two more points at home to Arsenal whilst we were taking care of Burnley. Your only 16 points behind us in the league table. Enjoy.

You can't read your own posts now this is your reply to my first post where I made no mention of the league.

so united fans are now celebrating trophies won by Chelsea!!!

You trying too hard, the post I was replying too specifically was talking about Jose. What's with the Liverfool fans on this thread, stick to your own.

Perhaps a eutral football banter thread would be a good idea.

You can't read your own posts now this is your reply to my first post where I made no mention of the league.

See post 81 again where you initiated talk on the title with your "how many years is it now" comment. Stop crying like a baby. .

Again mate learn to read, or just do the math, my first post was post 78, I made no mention of league titles, your reply was post 79 which I quoted earlier, my reply was post 81. So as i said learn to read or just do the math which comes before 79 or 81.

I think you need to see an optician to get your eyes checked. What I said was Man Utd won't win the title anytime soon and I repeat that again that was not a denial of your previous achievements! So what? Why are you so hung up on that comment? It can only be that struggling some 16 points behind us it is really upsetting you! That is to be expected from the fans of the self proclaimed "biggest club in the world".

Outplayed, out-thought, out-fought against Liverpool.

The current Manchester United team look a shadow of the great teams of yesteryear.

Several terrible players, several players over the hill and many a player who does not want to play for Mourinho.

Actually can’t even laugh at Mourinho anymore. The guy is ruining he’s legacy. He needs to take a break from club football. Take a international job maybe.

Take it from the time Mourinho been in England, not sure but hazard a guess he still has won more...

No I am taking the overall record in to account. We all know how Liverpool toiled with Mourinho's £400 million of flop stars yesterday!

MU have more than enough offensive potential to be higher in the table. They have issues defensively but their attack should be able to win them more games than they have. Mourniho has to go. He should be getting more out of these players. He has lost the dressing room.

If you look at the piece of play from yesterday minute 89.45
That is how we can play with the players we have available, but mourinho is not interested in playing that way, he just likes his deep block.
I hope he goes before any of the players we have

Mourinho had to go.

He had lost the dressing-room and the majority of fans.

Although I'm not sure Ole Gunnar Solskjær as an interim manager is the best option.

Agreed completely. I'm surprised there isn't a huge uproar, the fans seem to be okay with it, the guy failed at Cardiff, why would he do good at United.

well hes been quite a success in his home country, cant really judge him at cardif he came when the club was in turmoil and he didnt have the players to play his system, the difference here is that MU are also in turmoil but now he has good players that can fit his system,

Lastly its a temp role to fill the gap, because poch was not going to leave mid way through the season and zidane or any other manager would not want to come in now when winning the league is impossible and securing a top 4 finish quite difficult. Therefore someone was needed to lift the spirits of the dressing room and fans which has worked.

I don't think Ole will be a success. Surely a rookie manager can not be Man Utd's permanent one.

Man Utd: Roy Keane says players 'got away with murder'

Manchester United players "got away with murder" and behaved "shamefully" towards sacked manager Jose Mourinho, says ex-Red Devils captain Roy Keane.

Keane said it was indicative of the behaviour of modern players, whom he says are "very weak human beings".

Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday, with former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer appointed caretaker manager until the end of the season.

"You would fall out with these players," Keane told BBC Radio 5 live.

"Players who turn up overweight, do not train properly and are not producing... for some to down tools, shame on some of those players.

"I am not Mourinho's biggest fan, but I can't tolerate footballers who hide behind agents, their pals in the media - it is a bit of a joke."

Mourinho was sacked after two and a half years in charge, with United 19 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool.

He was reported to have repeatedly fallen out with players, including record £89m signing Paul Pogba.

Former Republic of Ireland midfielder Keane, speaking to Adrian Chiles, added: "The players got away with murder. They hide behind the manager. They have thrown him under the bus."

4 wins out of 4! Solid performance tonight, we didn't start so well, looked a bit shaky but after that it was a good performance, glad to see Alexis Sanchez back :)

Tbf Utd have played 4 of the weakest teams since the arrival of the new manager. I think Jose's team would have won these 4.

The real test will be in Feb and March. This is why Jose said he was confident his team will get more points in the second half of the season as he believed the tougher games were in the first half.

Having said that players such as Pogba do look more determined but you have to wonder why he was slacking before wearing the Utd shirt? What if he falls out with Ole?

Jose's team wouldnt have won 4 out of 4. However even if they have one thing is for sure that the performance would have been much more labored

Cardiff, Hudersfield, Bournmouth and Newcastle are in very poor form atm. Away to Spurs on the 13th of Jan will give a beter idea of the progress of Utd. Beat Spurs away and fair enough it's a new team. Lose heavily and not much as changed really.

Ole definitely has Man Utd playing an attacking brand of Football. They dominated Newcastle from start to finish. The home team just defended all evening hoping for a goalless draw. After Man Utd got the opener there was only going to be one winner. Newcastle need serious investment just to avoid relegation.

Exactly, United even at home drew to some pretty average teams earlier in the season, so we probably would have drawn/lost one of these games. Anyway, even if we had won the games, we would not be playing as attractive football as we are under OGS

you are acting as if in Jose's last few months we were despatching teams like Cardiff, Newcastle etc. We weren't. Only last month we barely won against Newcastle at home for example with a last minute goal.

It's not Man Utd but those teams forms which I was pointing to. Huddersfield are on a 8 loss losing streak. Cardiff have been relegation contenders all season and will be lucky to survive. Bournmouth were crushed by Spurs 5-0 before playing Utd. Newcastle's own manager has said only a mircale will ensure their surivial. I have acknowledged the Man Utd players seem more determined but imo Utd fans need to clam down a little until they play Spurs. Playing better than Jose's team doesn't mean Utd will now beat anyone who they come up against, which some fans are feeling(even if its not you guys).

True to some extent, but it's very refreshing to see a Man United side who are playing attractive football with a smile on their faces. We on paper have such a good squad and I think top 4 is possible. Spurs away will be a big test, if we do lose, then all the United haters are gonna roast us by saying how we thought our team was good just for beating lower teams but we have to bear in mind Spurs are an excellent team. Even if we do lose to Spurs, it will be more important as to HOW we play, and it won't be the end of our top 4 hopes by any means.

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini will be out for "three or four weeks" with a calf injury, says interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Belgian - who has played just 31 minutes in six games under Solskjaer - suffered the injury in training.

However, Alexis Sanchez is likely to be fit for Saturday's game against Brighton at Old Trafford after missing the victory at Tottenham last weekend.

"It is sad," Solskjaer said of Fellaini's injury.

"There are X factors in different players and we all know Felli's X factor and he'll be working hard to get back in."

Solskjaer also said there were a couple of "niggles" for other players in the squad but added it was normal for this "point of the season".

"Chris (Smalling) and Marcos (Rojo) have just started running lightly so they're not fit yet," he said.

"Alexis has trained all week so hopefully he'll be available, and Felli is the long-term one that's out. He'll be out for a few weeks."

2-1 win over Brighton and the turnaround since Mourinho left continues.

Feb is huge. Need to keep winning our premium games and see where we stand.nwe have big games I. March

what a turnaround by ole, hes looking like the next fergie already.

Have to beat psg, i think we casn go and secure 4 quite easily maybe even third now, win the fa cup and progress in CL. It will be a massive foundation to build on next season.

I watched the game yesterday and was absolutely delighted with the victory, cheered me up after Pakistan losing and my mum's closest friend dying. I hope we avoid the big teams in the next round, hopefully we get an easy fixture, as I would like to win the FA cup but obviously it's low priority compared to PL and even CL.

Ole has to be taken seriously now. He is making Man Utd play to win where as Jose was telling them not to lose. All that money spent by Jose is now bearing fruit. No chance of winning the league or even CL but favourites to win the FA Cup.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Chinese Super League club Shandong Luneng over the transfer of midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

It is understood the Belgium player has already passed his medical and the transfer is close to being completed.

Fellaini, 31, joined United from Everton for £27m in 2014 when he became the first significant signing after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure as manager.

He signed a new two-year deal last summer that was due to run until 2020.

However, Fellaini has managed just three minutes of Premier League action in seven top-flight games under interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Fellaini helped United win the 2016 FA Cup final as well as the Europa League and League Cup in 2017.

'A new era?': Analysis - Simon Stone
This really feels like paving the way for a new era at Manchester United.

Fellaini was the first significant signing of the post Sir Alex Ferguson-era and for some supporters has come to symbolise the problems United have had since the Scot's exit in 2013.

Six months ago, United were in the position of haggling over a new deal for Fellaini, who had allowed his contract to run out.

The two-year deal they eventually agreed is only a quarter way through but already the club are taking a hit on the £27m they paid Everton for him, to allow him to move to China.

It very much feels as though Jose Mourinho is being pinpointed as the man who wanted Fellaini around, when many fans were happy to say goodbye.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer evidently is not worried about losing Fellaini as he has Scott McTominay as a back-up midfielder instead, and the obvious conclusion is that United's hierarchy do not believe the person who eventually replaces Mourinho on a full-time basis will be bothered either.

Forward Anthony Martial has signed a new contract at Manchester United until June 2024, with the option to extend for a further year.

The 23-year-old, who joined United from Monaco in September 2015 for £36m, has been in talks for a while.

United's interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: "For a young man, he has a good footballing brain, which, when coupled with his exceptional talent, makes for a player with an exciting future ahead of him."

In June, Martial's agent said his player - who has scored eight Premier League goals this season - wanted to leave Old Trafford and it was known former boss Jose Mourinho was happy to sanction his departure.

But United's hierarchy instead opened fresh negotiations and Martial said on Thursday: "I would like to thank Ole and his coaching staff for their belief in me and for helping me to take my game to the next level.

"I am loving my time at this club.

"From the day I joined, I have been made to feel part of the United family and I have been incredibly humbled and overwhelmed by the warmth and love of our fans, who continue to amaze me with their support."

Martial has started five times under Mourinho's successor Solskjaer, and scored after coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup win at Arsenal on Friday.

He missed Tuesday night's home draw with Burnley after picking up "a slight injury" in training but has managed 10 goals in 25 matches in all competitions this season.

Last summer there seemed no chance Martial would stay at United.

The winger's agent said Martial wanted to leave and Jose Mourinho was happy for the France winger to go.

Senior figures at Old Trafford were not as enthusiastic.

They blocked the move, triggered a clause in Martial's contract that extended it by a further year and opened talks about the long-term arrangement confirmed today.

The idea, in July, that Martial could say he was 'loving it at Manchester United' is fanciful.

Manchester United are two years away from being Premier League title contenders but do not need a squad overhaul to get there, says interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United have won nine of 10 games in all competitions since Solskjaer replaced the sacked Jose Mourinho in December.

They are currently fifth in the Premier League table, 14 points behind rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

"We're too far behind this year, obviously," said Solskjaer.

"You've got to catch up with the other teams ahead of us, especially City, Liverpool but now Tottenham - they're really in the running as well.

"Two years' time is long enough, but also short enough to say that we've got the possibility to make a big difference in our preparation, in everything."

The 45-year-old Norwegian, who won the Premier League manager of the month award for January, said he already had a "picture" of how he thinks "this Manchester United team will look in a couple of years", even if he does not get the job on a permanent basis.

When asked how many players the club would need to sign to challenge for the title, Solskjaer said: "It is about who we've got here as well.

"If every single player can improve by 1-2% it is not about X amount of players.

"It's not just buy a superstar and that will fix things and suddenly we go from challenging to be among the top four to being champions."

The former striker added that he hoped United, who face Fulham at 12:30 GMT on Saturday, will be ready to contend for the title next year.

"I came in from Molde, they were 10th in 2010, and in 2011 we won the league, so you can never say never," he said.

Confident Manchester United moved into the Premier League's top four with a dominant win over struggling Fulham at Craven Cottage.

Anthony Martial was in sensational form, making the first for Paul Pogba and scoring a wonderful second as United secured their 10th victory in 11 games under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Pogba wrapped up the points in the second half when he stroked home from the penalty spot after Juan Mata was fouled in the area.

Despite fielding a much-changed defence, they were rarely troubled by a Fulham team who have now conceded 58 goals this season and remain firmly entrenched in the relegation zone.

United on the other hand have moved above Chelsea on 51 points with their recent stunning form pushing them into the hunt for an end-of-season Champions League spot.

Pogba's brilliance defines United

Pogba's resurgence under Solskjaer has been well documented and his performance at Craven Cottage epitomised the way he has played under the Norwegian.

Two more goals took his season's tally to 13 - seven of them have been scored in nine Premier League games under Solskjaer - and he completely ran the game for Manchester United.

With just 13 minutes on the clock, he latched onto Martial's through ball and from a tight angle smashed the ball high into the top corner of Sergio Rico's net.

He continued to stroll around the pitch with the swagger and skill expected of a £89m World Cup winner, dovetailing neatly with Martial to strengthen the case that he is the best midfielder in the Premier League at the moment.

And after Mata was clumsily pulled down by Maxime Le Marchand on 64 minutes, Pogba picked up the ball and coolly slotted the penalty into the bottom right corner.

With the game won, Solskjaer withdrew his star man to protect him for big tests coming up, not least Paris St-Germain in the Champions League last 16 at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Claudio Ranieri's side have now lost five of their last six games and a return to the Championship looks all the more likely after this display.

It could all have been very different if the Cottagers had scored in the opening minute. From a Manchester United attack, the Cottagers broke quickly and Andre Schurrle picked out Luciano Vietto at the back post. The Italian though could only carelessly screw his shot wide.

Schurrle himself could have scored moments later but he too was off target when well placed.

That was as good as it got for Fulham who showed no signs of repeating their incredible comeback from two goals down to beat Brighton in their previous home match.

Indeed, Mitrovic's twisting header on 72 minutes was the only time they tested United keeper David de Gea in the second half.

Ryan Babel summed up their afternoon when he could only hit the post from a yard out, to the great joy of the United fans situated behind the goal.

Ryan Babel
Fulham have conceded 12 more goals than any other team in Europe's biggest five leagues
On this evidence, Ranieri has a lot of work to do to salvage their season as they sit seven points from safety with just 12 games left.

Shouts of 'You don't know what you're doing' from his own fans when he withdrew Schurrle early in the second half will not help their cause.

Games against West Ham and Southampton will be vital before an intimidating March run of fixtures against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has won 25 points from his first nine Premier League games with Manchester United
Solskjaer seemed to have one eye on Tuesday's Champions League match and made six changes to the side that won last time out at Leicester.

With Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez rested, replacements Martial and Romelu Lukaku improved their chances of featuring in that game with a performance full of threat.

Martial in particular was in dynamic form, tormenting Fulham's stand-in right back Denis Odoi throughout and scoring a marvellous goal after a run from inside his own half.

Solskjaer also shuffled his defenders as Phil Jones and Chris Smalling, fresh from signing new long-term deals at Old Trafford, reprised their centre-back partnership.

And, despite a few shaky moments early on, they easily handled the feisty Mitrovic and cruised to a sixth consecutive away victory in all competitions for the first time since May 2009.

Solskjaer even had the luxury of withdrawing Pogba and Martial with 20 minutes left, two Frenchmen who will relish the challenge posed by runaway Ligue 1 leaders PSG.

Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri: We created two great chances in the first 10 minutes but after we conceded we gave it to them and lost our composure. When you play against big champions you can make mistakes.

I tried to give my players more opportunities by playing with two strikers and Ryan Babel in behind. We didn't create anything very dangerous and the penalty finished the match.

On Andre Schurrle's substitution: I know the fans were not happy but I had two players with flu in the week, including Andre Schurrle. I can understand the fans always want their players to play but it's not always possible.

We will work to try and win our next two games. We're always positive.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer: The first 10 minutes we made it hard for ourselves but the last 80 minutes pleased me. We managed the game well which you have to do away from home and we played some fantastic football.

The players have some fantastic qualities. I've supported United for many years and as a United fan you go into every game thinking you're going to win it. We're on a great run but I think the players are feeling the same.

We know how good Paul Pogba is and he scored a great goal.

We want to keep moving forward and hang onto this fourth place. When you win games, you're always happy and I think the crowd will enjoy the trip home.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba: We've played better but getting two quick goals in the first half changed the game. Ole helps every player play at their best. Ole is himself. He's not acting and he's given joy and confidence to everyone.

The team has a really good atmosphere. You can see on the pitch the effect.

There is a long way to go with big games coming up. We've got to focus on PSG and try and get points from the big teams.

Fulham's bogey team - the stats

Fulham have conceded 58 goals in 26 Premier League games this season; only three sides have shipped more at this stage in the history of the competition (Barnsley in 97/98 - 62, Swindon in 93/94 - 60 and Blackburn in 11/12 - 59).
Manchester United have won six consecutive away games in all competitions for the first time since May 2009.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has picked up 25 points in the Premier League since taking over in December (W8 D1), more than any other manager has managed in his first nine games in charge of a single club in the competition.
Fulham have lost 20 Premier League games against Manchester United, against no other team have they lost more (also 20 v Arsenal).
Manchester United have scored seven goals from the penalty spot in the Premier League this season, more than any other side.
Manchester United's Paul Pogba has reached double figures for goals for the first time ever in a single league campaign (11).
Anthony Martial has now been directly involved in 50 Premier League goals (33 goals, 17 assists), more than any other Manchester United player since his debut in September 2015.
Via his assist for Anthony Martial, Manchester United defender Phil Jones registered his first goal involvement in 87 Premier League appearances, since an assist against Norwich in April 2014.

What's next?
Fulham have almost two weeks off before travelling across London to face West Ham on Friday, 22 February (20:00 GMT).

Manchester United will welcome Paris St-Germain to Old Trafford in the Champions League on Tuesday, 12 February (19:45 GMT) before an FA Cup fifth-round tie with Chelsea on Monday, 18 February at Stamford Bridge.

Fulham were awful but United were clinical.

It was like a training session it was so easy for Man Utd.

Pogba superb again.

Good win yesterday. Big few games coming up, can't wait for the PSG clash and we also have Chelsea in the FA Cup and a league match against Liverpool coming up! Come on United! I genuinely think we can beat PSG

looks like saudi prince is buying the club for $4B.

If this happens i wonder what will happen in the summer transfer window :ds

Saudi Arabia dismissed a U.K. newspaper report that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is stalking Manchester United and wants to tempt the Glazer family to cede control of the Premier League soccer team.

The news is “completely untrue,” Saudi information minister Turki Alshabanah said on Twitter.

Bin Salman first made a bid for the team in October, the Sun said, but the diplomatic row that followed the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi embassy in Istanbul “put the skids” on the $4.9 billion offer. The minister suggested the Sun misunderstood why there’s been recent contact with United.

“The club held a meeting with the Public Investment Fund to discuss an advertising sponsorship project, and the Fund listened to the proposals as any investment and did not produce any results,” he said.

United is controlled by the Glazer family, owners of the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They bought the storied England soccer club in 2005 in a controversial acquisition heavily financed by debt and, in 2012, listed it in New York. They have no interest in selling, the newspaper said.

Calls to the Glazer Family Foundation in Florida were unanswered.

The Sun said Bin Salman’s interest in United is driven by a desire to challenge crosstown rival Manchester City, which is owned by Sheikh Mansour of Abu Dhabi’s royal family.

Manchester United forward Alexis Sanchez will be out for "four to six weeks" with a knee injury, says interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Chile striker, 30, was substituted after 52 minutes in United's 3-2 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

It had been suggested by Chile's medical team that Sanchez would be sidelined for up to two months.

"It's a bad knee injury. Hopefully he will recover quickly," said Solskjaer.

Manchester United visit Paris St-Germain in the Champions League's last 16 on Wednesday, trailing 2-0 from the first leg at Old Trafford.

Good day at the office:

The greatest away win in the CL of all time for United. Even better than Turin given all the injuries and Pogba suspended.

Although it was a very harsh penalty one can't begrudge Man Utd this victory. PSG only have themselves to blame after two terrible errors that gave away the same number of goals. This should means Ole gets the full time.

PSG literally gifted them this win.. I guess Buffoon needs to accept that CL victory just isnt for him

Absolutely buzzing. Although I do feel for PSG as that penalty call was a bit iffy. Still though, what a great feeling. Let's see who we get in the next round :)

The last 3 months have been brining back some of those good memories of ‘squeaky bum time’.

Hope this continues and is not just a honeymoon phase.

Ander Herrera has confirmed that he is still in negotiations with Manchester United over a contract extension, but he is also remaining open to a potential move this summer.

As is the case with a number of first team stars at United, Herrera's current deal with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of the season and both parties are yet to come to an agreement over a renewal.

Following on from recent reports which claimed that the midfielder is closing in on a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, Spanish media outlet ABC (via Sport Witness) took the time to speak to Herrera prior to United's Champions League clash against Barcelona and were sure to discuss his current transfer situation.

Herrera cryptically responded, saying: “It’s true that I only have two months on my contract left, and today, Manchester [United] and I aren’t thinking the same and there is no renewal agreement, but my duty is to keep listening to United.

Herrera also discussed the recent rumours concerning Paul Pogba, who has been linked with a potential move to Real Madrid this summer, insisting that he would be keen for the French talisman to remain in Manchester.

“Pogba would be a great reinforcement for Madrid and for any team in the universe, but I hope he remains in United. He is a midfielder who has all the qualities.”

Ashley Young: Manchester United condemn racist abuse of defender

Manchester United said they "will take the strongest possible action" they can after defender Ashley Young was racially abused on Twitter.

Young, who was captaining the side, was targeted as United suffered a 3-0 second-leg defeat at Barcelona in their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday to go out 4-0 on aggregate.

United said the club "utterly condemns" the "racist social media comments".

The club added it was "working to identify individuals involved".

Anti-discrimination charity Kick it Out said: "Yet another black player, this time Ashley Young, is targeted with racist abuse on social media after tonight's Champions League game.

"Again, we're left asking Twitter the same question - when will you take serious action to tackle the rampant discrimination on your platform?"

"We do not comment on individual cases for privacy reasons," a Twitter spokesperson said.

"Our abusive behaviour policy prohibits behaviour which attempts to harass, intimidate or silence another person's voice and we take strong enforcement action if violations are found.

"Progress in this space is tough, but we are deeply committed to improving the health of the conversation on the platform.

"To this end, we are now suspending three times more abusive accounts within 24 hours after receiving a report than this time last year. We'll continue building on this work to prioritise the safety of our users."

Twitter's abusive behaviour policy hides messages which violate its rules and stops account holders from being able to post again until the offending tweet is removed.

United are miles behind the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and City. It's bizarre how obvious issues, such as having to play the likes of Smalling, Jones, Young, McTominay and Lingard in such a big game, is overlooked season after season. Lingard isn't a kid anymore (I think he's 27 or turning 27 soon), to put that in perspective, he's almost closer to Ashley Young in age than he is Mbappe.

Young has never been a fullback and was average at best as a winger, so why at 33 is he playing in the backline v Barcelona? Jones is comical and Smalling peaked years ago, while McTominay would be at a mid-table championship team if it wasn't for him being "Mourinho's project".

It's mainly just getting rid of deadwood and actually replacing them with first-team quality players to surround the likes of Martial, Pogba, De Gea and Shaw who can be real bright sparks if they're given support. Honestly, Barcelona aren't that great outside of Messi anymore and if United had players that could hold their own at this level surrounding their best players they could easily gave Barcelona a run for their money.

Manchester United: Paul Pogba says loss to Everton was a 'disrespectful' performance

Manchester United's players did not respect the club or their fans during Sunday's 4-0 loss at Everton, says midfielder Paul Pogba.

The result at Goodison Park was United's third loss in five league games and left them sixth in the Premier League with four matches to go.

"The way we played and the performance of myself, of the team, of everyone is disrespectful," Pogba told Sky Sports.

"Everything went wrong, but the mentality on the pitch has to change."

United are three points behind third-placed Tottenham and fourth-placed Chelsea and two behind fifth-placed Arsenal, and will miss out on Champions League qualification if they end the season in their current position.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have lost six of their past eight games since their comeback win over Paris St-Germain in the Champions League in early March.

They play title-chasing Manchester City on Wednesday, before games against Chelsea, Huddersfield and Cardiff.

"The fans want a reaction from the players and the only way to apologise to them is to give everything on the pitch," added Pogba.

"That's how we should apologise to the fans, just to give everything for the club, for the shirt, for the team-mates and for ourselves because we can't perform like we did.

"We can lose games, but with a good performance and pride. When you wear this shirt, you have to work and respect the culture, the history of this club and give everything.

"We didn't respect ourselves, the club or the fans. What we did on the pitch is not respectful for the team-mates, for the staff, for the people, for the kit man, for everyone."

Man Utd v Man City: Pep Guardiola surprised by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer comments

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is amazed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's pre-derby warning to his Manchester United players that they should be ready to be kicked at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

On Tuesday morning Solskjaer said: "There will be fouls. They will snap at your ankles and heels and kick you."

"Did he say that? With 65% or 70% possession, how do we do that?" said Guardiola.

"I don't like it. My side is not built like that, not at all."

Guardiola has previously denied accusations he tells his teams to commit 'tactical fouls' to halt opposition counter-attacks.

Privately, City are bemused at United letting Solskjaer speak about the issue, mainly because the statistics do not back up the Norwegian's view.

According to Opta, City have conceded 170 free-kicks, excluding offsides, in the opposition half so far this season. In contrast, United have conceded 195.

In addition, City have amassed 38 yellow cards and one red in the Premier League this season - for United, the figures are 64 and four.

"In 10 seasons as a manager, I never prepared for a game thinking about these thing. Never," insisted Guardiola.

"In football, you sometimes do that [foul] because the actions are so fast. But I never said we should do it to punish an opponent or cancel them. Maybe after the game you can ask him in the press conference."

'Solskjaer's comments won't influence referee'

In November, Guardiola was given a formal warning by the Football Association for speaking about referee Anthony Taylor before the previous Manchester derby at Etihad Stadium, which City won 3-1.

In October, Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez was fined £60,000 for comments he made about Andre Marriner before a goalless draw with Crystal Palace.

Marriner will be in charge at Old Trafford and, as FA rules specifically forbid managers speaking about referees prior to matches, Solskjaer risked a sanction when he said: "They [City] commit so many players forward and you can clearly see that they've got them in that mould of trying to win the ball back, and they do make fouls.

"It's up to us to play through that press, be ready, play one and two-touch, don't give them time. If you spend two or three touches… it's not my decision, it's the referee's responsibility to do that."

Asked if those comments could influence Marriner, Guardiola said: "That's the reason why, of course.

"But I don't think it will be successful because we don't do it."

Hopefully United bottle this game against City. I can't honestly deal with the idea of Liverpool winning the league, would be too horrific for this world. :)))

Played well in the 1st half versus Man City but 2nd half City were different class.

Major overhaul of the Utd squad needed at the end of this season.
