As the post suggest, do you guys remember any games where teams declared too early and regretted doing so despite being in a winning position. Any famous ones being chased down?

Pak chasing 300 something in the 4th innings vs Lanka in the UAE a few years back comes to mind.

Though I'm not sure if Lanka declared or were all out

Headingley 2001.

AUS (Gilly as Captain) set ENG about 300 to chase on the last day and Mark Butcher played the innings of his life (173*) to win them the game.

I think it was 2001 not sure but Pakistan declared leaving West Indies 220 off and they got there with 1 wicket left, umpiring Was horrible and saqi missed a run out , could of won test series !

That 2001 declaration at Headingley by Gilchrist was ludicrously arrogant, as was Root's declaration against the West Indies a couple of years ago at the same venue.

We didn't declare, Ambrose and Walsh bowled us out.

That was Wasim’s last great Test spell.

Billy Doctrove later apologized to Waz (for his atrociously biased umpiring in his first match), who then had a few choice words for him.
