Cricket is a great sport in which you can't predict the outcome until the match is completely over. Many a time in the history of cricket we have seen table turnings from the unforeseeable juncture that results in the losing side snatching the victory from the Jaws of failure.

So name such matches/events when the losing side were able to win miraculously against all the odds.

Pak beat India in Kolkata after being 6 down for 26 in 1999 Calcutta test. Shoaib bowled Sachin first ball and silenced 100 thousand people.
Pak beat India in Chennai when game seemed almost over. Sachin’s propensity to choke in crunch situations also helped Pak that day

Sachin was man of the match against Pakistan in 3 out of 5 wcs wasn't he, smashed akhtar like a club bowler in 2003.

Imagine calling a guy who scored more than half of the teams runs despite playing with a severe back pain as a choker.

He got out when India needed just 17,everyone else around him choked

The matches you mentioned are simply remarkable and by reading just first sentences of each match you mentioned non can believe that the same team won the match in the end.
 
India needing 48 off 18 was incredible to watch (and heartbreaking). From being like 30-4 to winning the match is a pretty solid comeback

That is not come back. You cannot make a prediction based on first 3 wickets as both sides have to bat. Come back means a team is completely in hopelessly unwinnable situation.
 
India defending 143 at the MCG in 1983. Kapil Dev with pain killer injection took 5 for 28. Australia was bowled out for 83 after taking a sizable lead in the first innings
 
In recent times, it is Australia win over Afghanistan but in the past I remember two ODI matches of Pakistan. One against Sri Lanka at Sharjah in 1999 when the match ended in a tie and one against South Africa where Abdur Razzaq smashed every South African bowler at Abu Dhabi in 2010 to give Pakistan an unlikely win.
 
VVS, Dravid Eden Gardens 2001. Australia was the GOAT team and on a 16 test match winning streak, final frontier hype.

Another one for me would be the 2008 WACA win following Monkeygate/controversial SCG test. Again Aus was on a 16 tests winning streak till that defeat.

Looking at a series, the comeback from 36 all out humiliation and so many main players unavailable in our previous tour of Aus.

Among others, Botham's Headingley magic, Karachi 39/6, Hussey against Pak in SCG, Sri Lanka with that big last wicket partnership to beat SA in SA.
 
T20, ODI comebacks pale before ones in the greatest format that is test cricket. You can't turn a test with 30 minutes passage of play, you have to beat the pressure in multiple sessions to come back.
 
Nothing comes close to the 2001 Eden Gardens Test because of multiple reasons.

Almost identical.Pak U19 defeating India U19 in a WC final while defending a lowly target of 109 against a team consisting of players like Rohit Sharma, Pujara, Jadeja etc is one of the biggest comeback in the history of cricket. Scorecard in link below.

To me it has to be Maxwell vs Afghanistan. The Win wiz for Aus was like 1% and then then somehow won it

England were still 100 behind Australia at Headingley when their 7th wicket fell in the second innings following on, so they had 3 wickets left in the whole game. Just Botham and the tailenders left. Even making Australia bat again would have been an achievement. But to reach parity, build a lead, bowl Australia out and win from that position is positively ridiculous!

Let's ignore brain dead Bollywood actors and Indian ads
 
India's winning series against Australia after 36 all out in Kohli's absence was a good comeback too.
 
Pakistan winning the CT 2017 after a humiliating defeating against India in the first match could also be reckon as one of the greatest comeback in the history of cricket.
 
West Indies winning the Adelaide Test in 1993 by just one run. I remember following this series closely. The Windies needed to win this game to stay alive in this series where they had started poorly. They came back and won the series and maintained their unbeaten record until it was finally broken in 1995.
 
Australia winning 2023 WC after being 0-2 in group stage.
Pakistan winning 1992 WC after almost being eliminated in group stage.
Pakistan winning 2009 World T20 after being vulnerable before semi-final.
Pakistan winning 2017 CT after almost getting eliminated in group stage.
2001 Kolkata Test.
Bangladesh's win against New Zealand in 2017 CT.
Australia's win against Afghanistan in 2023 WC.
Sri Lanka's win against India in 1996 WC semi-final (India were cruising).
 
I have 2 instances in my mind right now.

1st: That famous Karachi test where Ifran Pathan took a hat-trick in the first over against Pakistan in 2006 and Kamran Akmal made a century to get things going and eventually Pakistan won by 341 runs

2nd: Maxwell's one-man show against Afghanistan in the ICC world cup. what an inning it was from him and it has to be one of the best comebacks for a team to win put of nowhere.
 
The way Deccan Chargers won IPL 2 was also phenomenal bearing in mind that they finished last in IPL 1
 
that maxwell 200 ... mind freaking blowing. Once in a lifetime situation. And that too in a world cup match
 
Maxwell in odi against Afghanistan for sure. That was unbelievable
 
Maxwell inning against Afghanistan was one of the best comebacks that I witnessed in recent times, Razzaq's onslaught against South Africa was also something you will not see every day.

But How many of you remember Australia vs. England, 2005 Ashes - The "Famous" 2nd Test that England won by 2 runs.
 
Also some other from 2024 includes: New Zealand team white washing India in India after getting white washed by Sri Lanka in just a space of month.

Australia bouncing back from 1-0 to win the BGT by 1-3 margin
 
Greatest comeback in odi is easily afg vs Australia. Literally this has never been done before lol, you only see this type of stuff in hollywood movies.

In t20 cricket the greatest comeback has to be Aus vs Pak 2010 and 2021. Both situations were next to impossible for Australia which was 48 of 18 lol. But I'd say 2010 is better. Mattew wade got lucky by some rubbish bowling and some rubbish fielding especially hasan Ali while hussey was dominating top tier bowling.

When a batter is in such form, theirs honestly nothing you can do.

West indies vs England also comes to mind, like who could have predicted a tail enders chasing down 22 of 4 and winning the world cup for his country? What a game.

In test idk, Theirs alot of great test comebacks from impossible positions. Lars's one wicket win, Wi beating aus by 3 wickets chasing down 418, Steve Smith's iconic 211 knock.

I'd say the best test would be England vs aus Leeds 2019 where eng won by 1 wicket despite being bundled out for an embarrassing 1st innings score yet and being forced to chase 370 something in the 2nd innings

It's also why Indians are clueless when they claim BGT is > Ashes.

BGT has never once come close to anything 2019 related.

It's stupid to rely on some examples cricketers who've claimed nonsense as such rizzu top 3 players in the world cough anil kumble cough and use that to claim bgt > Ashes.

Ashes has more history, a better name and has had more close encounters and memorable moments then BGT. And I'm speaking from a neutral perspective.
