Having helped mastermind the win, I hope he now uses the success to put his foot down and insist that the following have no future in the one day team:

Umar Akmal,
Ahmed Shazad
Wahab Riaz
Malik and
Hafeez

He's already said there are 10 other players he is keeping his eye on like Zaman so lets get them in so at least they have 2 years experience under their belt before the next WC.

Zaman has had to wait 2 years and even then for Sharjeel to be suspended and Shazad dropped; lets not make the same mistake.

Hafeez can still do a job batting lower order and bowling, the rest should be discarded.

Umar Akmal, Shehzad and Riaz are gone for sure I feel. Riaz might be kept around in the test side but that's it.

Malik and Hafeez will be kept, but then can you really blame him, there's little lower/middle order talent around, and the one guy we placed our faith in Umar Akmal is out for fitness reasons.

The biggest issue is Haris, I wonder whether he will or where he would fit in. I would slot him in for Azhar.

I don't think Shehzad or Akmal merit a place, but young players should not be written off. They are seeing they Arthur's approach is paying off and perhaps they will committed to change their ways.
Agree on Hafeez and Malik. The excuses of not replacement talent are already shown to be without merit for pakistan. The one concrete thing he could do is have to rest some players for the tour vs Sri Lanka

I don't discount Umar making a comeback of he performs and improves his fitness.

But I wouldn't necessarily want to see it. He was never more than barely better than the rest in internationals.

Hafeez and Malik's time should be up. No way around it. No reason to expect stale bread to taste better two years down the road.

Thing with Hafeez is that everyone was crying out for him to bat down the order and look what he did in the final...

I'm all for youth but we do need at least one if not two experienced shoulders out there. Question is who remains and who is discarded? Its a choice between Malik and Hafeez.

Unless Malik bowls you would have to go with Hafeez really.

Malik needs to go we are playing the WC in England and he has done nothing in England. I was a bit skeptical about Hafeez but I think he has shown he can bat at 5/6 and do it well. He also bowls decently well.

What really impressed me about Safaraz in the final was that once Imad got injured he brought on Fakhar.
Then he continued with Fakhar when he could easily have given the ball to Hafeez or Malik.

Knowing the game was all but won he used the opportunity to keep youngster on in a big occassion. If i was Malik or Hafeez at that stage I would have felt a little disappointed and would be looking over my shoulder now.

Feel like Fakhar was more of a secret weapon to bring on, as he'd never bowled before in international cricket, so the indian batsmen would not expect it, thus might be difficult to get used to at first. Once they did, he started getting hit easily. Still he surprised me, he wasn't a bad part timer, I look forward to him being used in the future. Less to do with faith in Hafeez and Malik's abilities, afterall Sarfraz was bowling Hafeez quite a bit this tournaments, even sacrificing the full time quotas of the other bowlers. Hafeez isn't good enough anymore for the captain to want to bowl him 10 overs every game like before, but still think he's considered the no.1 part timer, ahead of Malik and Fakhar.

I thought the strategy of using Fakhar was inventive (and was a good surprise strategy if things went wrong). But was kind of needless in the final, Sarfraz gave away easy runs by bowling the spinners too much in the middle, when he could have brought a fast bowler back on to finish it. Gave a glimpse of a chance to India allowing Pandeya some easy quick runs.

Hafeez and Wahab should be made test specialists. Hafeez would be a good replacement to Misbah at number 5.

Malik for ODIs and T20s.

Kick Shahzad out forever.

Umar Akmal has a future if he performs in our domestic cricket.

I don't think it's an issue right now. There are several experienced players in the side-why do you need Hafeez/Malik? They should be retired with the messaging that they are "going out on top". Azhar is still available as a senior cricketer, especially if Sharjeel is not allowed back. Not only that, Sarfraz is 30 and has been a regular in the side since 2013. We've got plenty of accomplished senior leadership without needing Hafeez or Malik.

Stockholm syndrome is taking over pak fans

Experience for the sake experience is useless

All these players are winners now

I agree that it could have been a "surprise" move by Safaraz to catch India's tailenders off guard.
Really my point was that Safaraz did well by not going to his usual all rounders which he so easily could have.

The planning seemed to be superb throughout. Malik was not relied on to bowl other then a couple of overs against India and Hafeez did not bowl at all against India (which actually for the India game imho was mistake). But what this did do was to highlight each players role in the side.

Malik was played as a pure batsmen and Hafeez a batting all-rounder.

Ok so lets move away from the "Experience" argument.
Question then is whether Hafeez should be in the team as a number 6 batting/bowling all rounder.

Does he merit a place in the side?

With Malik, as he was not used for his bowling, we can only judge by his batting and he failed to deliver in every innings he played so I think 2019 is too far away for him.

Both should be gone

Professor has taken 3 wickets since coming back from his ban. His economy is still decent but it doesn't make up for his awfulness with the bat of his ego.

Our bowling attack in 2015 WC managed just fine without him, and that pace attack has nothing on our current pacers.

Haris Sohail can do a job with the bowl and is far superior with the bat

I think hafeez and Haris might be the replacements for Misbah and MYK in tests.

In ODIs riaz place is gone for sure, shehzad might hang around or can be replaced by Amin or Aslam who had a good one day cup tournament. One of Malik or hafeez will be phased out soon I guess.

What has Malik done? He deserves his place and should be there.

The rest I agree, shouldn't be in the squad from here on.

One of Malik and Hafeez has to go to make way for Haris Sohail.

I would have said Hafeez should be the one to be axed a few days ago but now I am not so sure.
