"Misbah and Younis should be thankful Ijaz Butt isn't there, he would have banned them" : M Yousuf

Mohammad Yousuf speaking on TV after the MCG Test:

"Our good performances have all come in UAE."

"There's no doubt that we appreciate all that Misbah has done for Pakistan but if you say he is Pakistan's best captain then that's a bit too much. He hasn't won any series of note outside UAE."

"It's up to the players to decide whether they want to continue on and also up to the board whether they want to keep them."

"In the past 6 years, we have not done well on any overseas tour, including SA, England, NZ and now Australia."

"Misbah and Younis should be thankful that Ijaz Butt isn't there, and Intikhab Alam, they would have banned them. In Australia when I lost the series in 2010, they banned me for no reason. All teams lose at some point. So Younis and Misbah are lucky that people are talking about whether they should leave or stay because under the previous board, they would have been banned."

"All players have to retire at some time. There are some good batsmen in the Pakistan team. Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq have performed everywhere while Babar Azam is a good talent and we have some good batsmen coming up. Even if they lose overseas, they will get used to the conditions and gain experience."

The height of hypocrisy.

"In the past 6 years, we have not done well on any overseas tour, including SA, England, NZ and now Australia."
We drew in England whereas Yousuf saab arrived there in 2006 and 2010 and endured miserable defeats. We beat New Zealand in 2011.

Yes the record in SA and Australia is poor - and its been that way for as long as I can remember. Was Yousuf a mere spectator on all those tours of SA and Australia he was a part of ?

Yousuf of all people is criticising Misbah's captaincy when his own leadership was appalling in the 09-10 tour of Australia. He is the captain who blew a 200+ lead in the Sydney Test, one of the worst chokes of all time.

In Australia when I lost the series in 2010, they banned me for no reason.
Ah, nothing to do with your destructive presence in the dressing room. The ban was nothing to do conspiring against your own captain by swearing an oath against him, nothing to do with disgraceful performances on that 09-10 tour for a supposed ATG and nothing to do with your laziness, poor fitness and self-entitled attitude.

As for this Pakistan team only being successful in UAE - says the king of soft runs. When the going got tough, you could count of Yousuf getting out. An aesthetic and gifted batsman no doubt, of which I was a huge supporter of back in the day, but often crumbled under pressure.

Rameez Raja's assessment of Yousuf seems to be validated every time he opens his mouth.

The thing that yousuf doesnot realize is that even our record at home was quite mediocre in the decade before the sri lankan attacks.

The best thing Ijaz Butt ever did was get rid of this salty guy.

Don't hate the messenger.

What Moyo said has some inkling of truth in it. Apart from that drawn series in England we have been minnows outside of UAE. Take off your Misbah-love glasses.

All teams are minnows away from home. The one's that actually win an away series like ENG and SA, aren't as dominant at home.

Nothing wrong with what he said.

Seems like Misbah and YK will have to be ushered out after a disgraceful ending.

Any "standard" board would have shown them the door after so much embarrassment we have been subject to in cricket, thanks to theses two.

Moyo said "we have some good batsmen coming up. Even if they lose overseas, they will get used to"

Get used to losing LOL

He forgot that we were whitewashed 0-3 in the tests and 0-5 in the ODI series, we also lost the only 20/20 game. It was called the "winless tour", while this tour has only begun.

Younis and Misbah have done a lot of good for Pakistani cricket, particularly Misbah. You're getting too emotional after a couple of games, but at this point we outside fans can clearly see the bigger picture and tell you so.

Simple message of MOYO is that Ramiz is a fake expert/analyst with none or very limited acompliments and we ought to ignore Ramiz.

He's went on to represent Pakistan at the international level, though not as successful as MoYo, but it has to count for something. He's then went on to become a very popular commentator who's recognized worldwide for a very long period of time.

Push all that aside, success while playing cricket =/= success an an analyst/expert and vice versa, so for MoYo to say that Ramiz shouldn't give his analysis on Pak cricket only because he hasn't achieved as much as him is quite simply absurd. By that same logic, Mike Hesson shouldn't be NZ Cricket's head coach, and by that same logic we should all just retire from PakPassion because what have we achieved?

MoYo comes across as a very insecure person and a very spiteful person and was rightly called out for such by Ramiz.

So we should listen to Shearer or Maradona talk about football and ignore Mourinho and Wenger?

I think of all captains, Yousuf came the closest to defeating Australia in Australia... and that in a side that had Ricky Ponting, Steven Smith, Mike Hussey and Mitchell Johnson, Shane Watson..

We also forget he was vice captain to Inzi in numerous games, so his captaincy wasn't that bad

The guy barely gets credit for it.. If not for Kamran Akmal he was a sure winner in that game..

However Mamoon would disagree on this.. he still thinks Akmal is gold

What exactly are people losing their minds over? Yousuf has said nothing wrong.

Misbah has been worse than Yousuf in these two games as captain.. all his plans have been a failiure.. atleast Yousuf induced an Aussie collapse in home ground..

His decision to play Sami in the 2nd test was gold..

Kamran isn't gold, but I don't see any reason why - based on current form - he shouldn't be in the squad ahead of Rizwan, and this is coming from someone who likes the latter.

No one has asked Sarfraz to be replaced by Kamran.

However all is not lost.. if we win the final game, we remove one of the biggest jinxes that has plagued our cricket for 20 years.. that is to win in Australia... its one of the biggest Pakistani hoodo, jinx, achilles heel after the world cup streak India has over us..

Still alot of pride to play for.. Pakistan hasn't been that bad, we've put up decent totals on board... Misbah can end it on a final hurrah and put his name in another part of history (which he already is) for Pakistan

Misbah is a better captain than MoYo and that is not debatable, but Misbah has been absolutely dire in this series. Easily the worst display of Test captaincy since MoYo in Australia in 2010/11.

This simply drives home the point that our players are mentally too weak and meek to compete in Australia. The mental disintegration that takes place is baffling.

We fear going to Australia. All the hammerings by the great Australian teams of the fast have taken its toll. This mental block will take a long, long time to go away.

Moyo haters out in force as usual on this forum.

He has only spoken the truth. Pak has been bad overseas. Badly beaten by SA, NZ, Aus. We drew in England, which was treated like we won 4-0 or something, but lost in NZ, where we normally win and have won or drawn under Inzi/Moyo.

Bitter but at the same time I agree with him.

Once Hussey was joined by Siddle in Sydney Test Yousuf's captaincy was worst. But he wasn't in right state of mind once he saw Kamran's keeping disaster infront of his eyes. He must have been thinking what's happening ?

So why did PCB ban Yousuf ? If they did not like his tactics should have replaced him as Captain. Ban was needless. Also they should have considered that it was only his 2nd series as Captain and first series as captain was drawn.

I rate Misbah's overall Captaincy but his tactics and field placinfs in Australia's 1st innings in 2nd Test were only slightly better than Yousuf's tactics in Sydney Test post Kamran's misery. ie quite worst.

But if today I am saying that Misbah should retire the only reason is his Age of 43 and him not performing with the bat in last 5-7 Tests. This does not mean Misbah should be banned.

Those bans barring Kamran's ban were all rubbish and nonsense. Umar should have been banned for 5-10 matches or fined heavily for faking a back injury.

Since when is Ijaz Butt's tenure as PCB Chairman a template to follow ?

This is the same guy who fell asleep during ICC meetings, who wanted Shane Warne "hanged upside down" after correctly giving a prediction about a WC match, boasted of giving "mazaydaar gaaliya" to Lalit Modi over the phone and accused England team of fixing.

Ijaz "where is the proof" Butt is the last person whose example we should be following. I hope we react to this Australia defeat a lot better than he did.
