Oh my what a joke, another injury.

Starc is a beast don't get me wrong, not a full mode beast as his mediocrity in India proved but still a pretty good bowler.

Injury after Injury after Injury, it's becoming repetitive and that too way too often.

Be honest do you guys still feel Starc can go on to becoming a great with his injuries that never seem to end?

Injuries come along the package of being a fast bowler so why think it's the end of the road already for him

Excellent ODI bowler, but his peak is in the past now it seems.

Was taken to the cleaners by both Pakistan and South Africa recently, on his own turf - the most favourable conditions he's going to get.

Would still put up some decent performances in LOIs though.

It was a bit immature for people to start matching him with the ATGs.

Only because it's his 8th injury in the past 2 years? :jimmy

Maybe slight exaggeration as I don't have the exact number of his injuries but you get the point.

Previous injury was an accident that happened during the exercise.. nothing to do with on-field activities.

It's his first major setback since the surgery in December 2015 - his previous injury was due to a training accident.

Since returning from injury in June 2016, he is the highest wicket-taker across all formats in international cricket with 100 wickets and has also bowled the most overs by any pacer in that period.

Hawkeye , his peak is far from over lol

Was looking all good post the recovery from the injury after the World Cup 15..

He is 27 and fast bowlers generally find it harder as soon as they reach 30 and hence injuries are definitely becoming a setback for him but I still believe he will have that one season in between the next 3-4 years where he will rip apart a strong batting lineup and won Australia series the way Johnson did it in the 2012-13 season.

He won't be able to maintain consistency and hence might not become an ATG test bowler but he has the skill set of an ATG bowler and will eventually showcass that somewhere.

Hazle and Rabada are superior bowlers to him in tests while Starc is the greatest as far as odis are concerned.

You're just going by the near-past stats.

Monitor him in the next few series.

Dont think his peak is over. He hasn't done much of note in tests either.I think his best are still to come. However, one thing is for sure is that he won't be able to maintain his peak for long. He is not going to be someone who will consistently remain among the top ranked bowler but will surely create enough impact when on song and win games for Australia.

On consistency front, Hazlewood is probably going to be among the top 3 ranked bowlers in the world for next 5-6 years.

You can say that about other Australian bowlers but not Starc. He's been durable his whole career and understandably so because his physique is more elastic compared to the other Aussies.

The training injury was hardly his fault.

He's been relatively fit for the effort he puts in to be honest.

He's been playing nonstop and bowling loads of overs ever since the SA tests, I'm surprised he's even lasted this long to be honest.

That is a lot of injuries however we can't fully call him off unless he really just brakes down.. take nathan bracken for example he had a retirement worthy injury to stop playing...im pretty sure starc can't beat irfan when it comes to being inured or maybe akhtar lol

Mitchell Starc dropped by Australia

It had to happen.

He’s been replaced by Chadd Sayers for the Fourth Test at Johannesburg after taking only 3-304 in his last two Tests, in 80 overs.

Wahab Starc has been toothless with the new red ball, and only seems to strike with an older ball when it reverses suspiciously early. Given the close scrutiny of how the ball will be handled in the Fourth Test, it clearly was no longer worth the risk of playing him.

Starc has a minor toe niggle, but ever since Cape Town we have been hearing that he was likely to be dropped.

Injured Starc ruled out of the IPL

Fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been ruled out of the fourth Test and the Indian Premier League due to a tibial bone stress fracture in his right leg.

Starc was replaced for the final Test against South Africa by South Australia’s Chadd Sayers and will fly home after the series for further injury investigation and assessment.

The left-armer was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for $1.8 million at the IPL auction in January, but will not take place in the lucrative tournament this season.

More to come

Good time to be injured now that ball-tampering is off the menu for a while.

another blow for Australia

Starc has always been injury prone
He is becoming like Steyn

Starc
Fizz
Steyn
Cummins
Pattinson
Shami

Man whats with bowlers in todays era, always injured. It seems their body is made of glass or what. I think respective board should start rotating bowlers if they want them to have prolong career or else they will continue to breakdown every other series. Starc and Steyn seemed to be injured more than they play.

Starc is a greqt LOI plqyer. Very overrated in testw though. Hazlewood is mioes above him in tests

Fizz is actually more fitter than the others. Had shoulder injury and had an ankle injury otherwise he has played a good deal of cricket. His shoulder injury was severe tho keeping him out for a loooong time

It's these AUS bowlers and Shami who keep getting injured every other day

Actually he has played quite a lot compared to others of his golden pace generation. While Cummins and Pattinson were always injured Starc continuously played for AUS.

Starc is still one of the best in limited overs cricket. Phenomenal yorker. Aus should be careful and not play him in every test.

What matters is that he will be there fit and firing for the world cup, which is the main debacle anyway. If a prolonged rest can help him bowl around the 150 KPH mark for the WC, then so be it. He reverse-swinging yorkers at that place are more or less unplayable. Pakistan should do the same with Amir; give him the rest he needs.

they need him , hazlewood ,cummins to be fit for the india tour. More pressure on them since they wont have the huge scores to bowl to since no smith and warner

Mitchell Starc has returned to bowling after a four-month injury break in an attempt regain peak fitness prior to the Test series against Pakistan.

His comeback came in a one-day match for the New South Wales Blues side, where he returned figures of 0/38 in six overs.

"It's only about the fourth bowl I've had to batsmen, so it's a bit different out in the middle than in the nets. (I'm) trying to make a few changes to the action and the run-up, trying to find some rhythm through there and have a nice hit out in the middle with the Blues boys," Starc said after the game in Blacktown on Tuesday, 21 August.

The 28-year-old faced a bone stress reaction in his right leg in Australia's Test against South Africa at Cape Town in March.

The injury kept him out of action for more than four months, forcing him to miss the fourth Test of the series in South Africa, which Australia lost 3-1, as well as the Indian Premier League and Australia's limited-overs fixtures in the intervening period.

The left-arm pacer, Australia's bowling spearhead when in harness, is aiming to make a comeback to the national squad for the two-Test series against Pakistan in October in the United Arab Emirates.

Meanwhile, Australia A will take on India A in a two-match series of four-day games in the subcontinent over the next few days, with the series expected to provide some ideas of the Test squad for the Pakistan Tests.

Starc also suggested that the 'A' series will help the senior team members within the squad to acclimatise to conditions which might not be too dissimilar to what is usually the case in the UAE.

"There's an Australia A tour over there where the guys are getting some time in the subcontinent. The guys in Australia are spending some time, like us, out in the middle today. The prep is going really well for everyone looking to put their hand up for that tour," he said.

Mitchell Starc has chickened out!

Anderson, Broad, Steyn always toiled hard in the UAE heat to eventually reap rich benefits. With only in his 5th over out of 80+ overs bowled, Mitchell Starc, on the other hand, has been bowling in the capacity of a part-timer.

He is injured, already his replacement has been announced this morning for the shorter format series. Having said that, he doesn't inspire any confidence anymore. He is either injured or resting half the time.
