Media reports suggest that Abbas got injured during the match while fielding. Things do not look good for Abbas and Pakistan for SA tour.

It would be really tough for Pakistan to beat SA without Abbas.I was so eagerly waiting to see how he would perform in SA.I just hope that he is fit before the series against SA, somehow!!

Injured Muhammad Abbas could miss the tour of South Africa

That's an opportunity gone for Pak to even win/draw a single test.

South Africa tour starts on 26th December, he will be fit before that. Injury is not that serious only 3 weeks rest is needed.

it is a fake news, he is injured but will only miss 3rd Test. He will be fit for the 1st test v south africa. That is still 4 weeks away.

Just luck didn't favor him. He will be among wickets again I think

Abbas out of 3rd Test and Maybe South Africa Tour!

Horrible news! Shoulder injury diving in Dubai. I have played on that Dubai outfield. Its a minefield for injuries, way too soft, I'm surprised we haven't had more.

Hope he can make it to South Africa

Shoulder injury needs 4 weeks to 2 months for rehabilitation.

Even if it takes minimum of 4 weeks, he can't start bowling again, as the series is less than 4 weeks, it will lead to severe injury.

PCB have confirmed the following

1. He suffered injury due to a fall during Dubai Test
2. He has shoulder pain and his scans etc are happening today
3. He appears doubtful for next Test but final decision will be taken after all scans etc are done
4 There is no news on his participation in tour of SA yet

That is why it is a hoax news, media always give this kind of news to create hype. Most likely he will miss 3rd Test and afterwards he will be rested.

In worst to worst case scenario, he will miss 1st Test in South Africa but will be back for 2nd and 3rd Test. Which is still not bad.

If he indeed has a slap lesion injury in his shoulder as CI suggests then he won't play SA tests for sure. That requires surgery rest and you can't just start bowling again.

Abbas injured his right shoulder diving in the field during Pakistan's innings win against New Zealand in Dubai. He played through the Test with painkillers but a shoulder scan on Wednesday has prompted fears about the nature of the injury.

Never good when the best player in the side gets injured for a big away series coming up.

That sucks. We always have a key player injured for tours to South Africa with sir Hafeez making a comeback at the perfect time.

Same case for 2013 tour when Haris got injured on the eve of the tour and had to wait 4-5 years to debut in tests.

He has a shoulder injury that could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 4 months to heal. Let's just hope it's the former rather than the latter.

out for the match & next series .

Errm - how did you gather that?

For once in my lifetime, I would love Pakistan to tour South Africa/England/Australia with a full strength side.

Why does this happen so often with Pak? If I am not wrong, Junaid (when he was our main test bowler) got injured before SAF tour of 2013. Yasir got injured before the Eng series in UAE in 2015. Abbas missing the tour of SAF will be disastrous. Even if he gets fit before the tour, might not be be able to make impact immediately after injury. Such bad luck !

What I have read is that its a precautionary measure as he was feeling pain while bowling in the 2nd innings and they dont want to risk his availability for SA tour and that is why it says “doubtful” for the 3rd test rather than “ruled out”. They are carrying out the treatment. Even if its a strain we shouldnt risk it.

I guess final scans will tell the exact picture but considering he was bowling in the 2nd innings post injury i am hopeful he can recover in a month.

Pain was quite a lot, and that is why they are thinking of resting him and carrying out the treatment while scans are also to be done.

This Dubai outfield is the worst . I was worried during the match that someone will get injured (Hassan Ali's knee also got stuck in the ground while sliding) and now we are a man down.

Reports that he will be fit for 1st test against South Africa

Yes. It says after the scans and specialist diagnosis turns out the injury is not that serious. Before the thir test they will carry out some more clinical tests.

Ideally no need to risk it and rest him for the 3rd test.

And Junaid getting injured after the first test & Next 2 tests we had to rely on Rahat Ali, Ehsan Adil & Tanvir Ahmed with Saeed Ajmal left alone to do the heavy work.

Great time to give Shaheen Shah Afridi a Test. Pressure will be not on him as Yasir Will be doing the bulk of work. But in South Africa it is the pace Attack that will have to step up.
