Mohammad Abbas has now:
Matches: 7
Wickets: 40
Avg: 16.62
Sr: 40.85
4wk: 4
5wk: 2

It is the best start by a pace bowler in recent times.

So happy for this guy, I have been his avid supporter from the start of his career & knew that he will lead our bowling charts in Irl,Eng matches. Pakistan's obsession with pace should ease up now after his swift rise. He has the Pakistan record for most wickets now after 7 matches.

Has huge huge potential

If he maintains his fitness and plays atleast 60 70 tests he can be one of Pakistan's greats.

He is 28 now hope he can stretch till 35

Unearthed a gem

Hope he gets a better county than Leicestershire.

Sorry the Great Khan.

As I have said before, he is world class and can walk into a world XI uncontested.

At 28, he is at his peak. One must question why likes of Abbas & Yasir Shah were given debuts so late in their career?

He will be the best pakistani test bowler for next 5 years. Better than Amir or Hasan Ali.

Mark my words this lad will make us forget Asif

Very talented bowler. Lacks Fizz's tricks but a solid bowler nonetheless.

Fizz's trick is to bowl off cutters and leg cutters with no conventional swing. I would take Abbas over Fizz any day in test cricket.

I think he can continue till the age of 34 which gives him 6 years more. Hopefully he can get 50 matches under and will end up with a sub 24 average.

I said before he can be Pakistan's Vernon Philander and I feel he will end up with similar statistics.

Who is Fizz ? That useless left hander with many useless "tricks",

LOL..As long as its next year not this year lol..Im going to watch some t20 this year so hope to see him play..

Lol. He was the 3rd best bowler for Pakistan in this test. Good luck with that.

They all bowled well but Amir was overall better than Hasan Ali because in the second innings the wicket was flat but was still able to get 4 wickets whereas HA went wicketless.

Hasan Ali was better in the first innings.

Very very impressed. Looks like Asif is back bowling! Dare I say Pakistan should try him in ODIs and should keep him in mind for WC 2019.

He can easily play for 6-7 years with such a smooth action and not pushing too much for pace which isnt his weapon anyways, his body can easily manage the workload of any sorts.

With his weapon being his accuracy and ability to seam the ball both ways he doesnt need to push his body as much as Amir, Starc or Rabada... he more like Hazlewood, Philander style of bowler so age isnt going to effect him and hopefully not much injury problems as well.

If only guy was picked 5 years back and got couple of years under pro set-up. In fact, in 2016 tour I did write that instead of Sohail & Imran, PAK should look for younger pacers like Hasan & Abbas. Very good skills for English condition, and he is bowling close to sticks now.

An out of box thought, because I haven't seen him ever with white ball; but for a June/July WC, Abbas isn't a bad shout. Fahim & Shadab gives enough batting depth, which probably allows to play 3 specialist pacers on bowling merit; added benefit is Amir & Hasan's batting - Abbas can finish his 8-10 overs at one go with new ball, and doesn't even come back. Imran used Aquib similarly many times.

These days, every ODI batting line-up is head heavy with often a hollow at 4-5; couple of wickets with new ball in PP, is like 50 runs head start - Abbas is a risk worth taking.

Because legends like Rahat Ali and Wahab were preferred for inexplicably long periods of time. X factor trundler and all that blah.

Well done young man.

Pakistan always seems on the brink of minnow territory and then out of no where talent comes.

I believe we will always produce talent, especially at the bowling level.

I will be honest - when I first saw Abbas, I was like what’s wrong with Inzi? He looked like a mediocre trundler but glad I was proven wrong.

hopefully the 'trundler' narrative is put to rest ... as long as you are taking wickets that's all that matters!

Bring on Sadaf and Mir Hamza as well !!

Nope!

Abbas may end up more skillful but he is a gentle character. The best thing about Asif was the smirk on his face playing with the batsman knowing he owns them.

He has Amir and Hasan alongside him to bring the heat.... Abbas can be his happy go lucky type and rip through batting line ups with a smile.

I so wish we were playing top notch test cricket in ENG/SA/NZ/AUS more often rather than the boring tests we play in UAE.

He is hard working bowler , uses his brain , He is right now leader of pakistan pace attack.

Abbas would still had been ignored. Look at Sadaf Hussain

These guys are amongest highest wicket takers in Pakistan. ANd there must be a reason why they are.

Thing is, guys like Abbas or Sadaf dont get picked as they dont play on TV. To play on TV you need to be a T20 bowler, which is why someone like Imran Khan jr( the slow paceer) got his debut before these guys.

Blame lies on Selectors. Guys like Inzamam they dont bother to sit in the stadium and watch these guys play.

You know how Abbas got selected? Because he played against the captain, Misbah ul haq. Misbah ul haq was impressed by his bowling and picked him immediately.
