"Mohammad Amir is famous as a match-winner but he has not won any matches for Pakistan" : Moin Khan

They don't readily praise the opposition.

They praise Yasir like anything.

I'd take their comments with a grain of salt.

Amir bowled well but had very little impact which means he is more of a line and length bowler at the moment than an actual wicket taker.

They praised Yasir on reputation and because Warne kept praising him. They certainly didn't praise his performance.

The praise about Amir was that he bowled well, not that he deserved to get a ten-fer or that he's the next coming of Wasim Akram. Same for Wahab, barring his no-balls on Day 3 and he got similar praise. Sohail - not so much.

My favourite Amir (2009-2010) has two innings to impress. If he doesn't than Selection Committee have to drop him else selection committee needs to be fired. If Amir performs in next Text ie takes more than 6 wickets at an Ave of under 26 fine retain him else drop him. 3 Test series are enough. Cricket cannot be played on reputation alone. If you perform you stay. If you don't you need to be replaced. Optimum performance is needed.

I will be interested to see what the stats of how much test matches we won whilst Amir was banned? He sold his soul when he cheated and karma is giving him a good kicking in return.

He lost his cockiness and he is a shadow of the player he was before his ban. Quite frankly he needs to be dropped as he has not took enough wickets and that's a fast bowler's job. I don't buy the dropped catches excuse. When has Pakistan ever been a good fielding side?

Et tu Brutus? :(

I thought he had a biomechanically perfect action and will leave Starc in dust soon because he is better than all the talent in the world.

Surely you need to give him some more chances?

Perhaps the tour of West Indies where he can pick nobodies one by one?

Yeah we saw just how effective he was against WI 'nobodies' in UAE.

Dr.Sahib it WAS so and it looked so. Amir of 2010 was officially 17-18 and unofficially 19-20. All the leading commentators analysts ex cricketers believed that he is the next best thing and they all believed that he was years ahead of his age. His numbers at some places were not very good but remember He had not even played even 1 complete FC season and was so young. Forget about the pitches. He clicked 153 kph in Tests in Australia. In one 7 overs spell 80 % of his deliveries were 145 plus. Swing, accuracy setting up batsman an action which was so much energy efficient. Forget the pitch just watch Johnson's bowled, it was a thing of beauty. Johnson mentioned it few days ago.

The delivery Amir bowled to Raina first up 152 kph was once again a thing of beauty. For me it was the most catchy breathtaking outswinger bowled by a left armer in last 5-6 years. But but but.

Amir is a Pakistan National Team player. He is a professional player who is paid handsomely and our fast bowling requires of him to be wicket taker. If not 2009-2010 he is acceptable if he is slightly mediocre but this Amir is not acceptable at any cost. There is merit. Consistency in selection cannot over rule performances at any cost.

The message should be loud and clear. Amir takes atleast 5 to 6 wickets in Sydney Test while averaging under 27 and having a SR under 55. If you manage it we need you and you will be retained otherwise we are going to drop you for next Test tour be it be Bangladesh in feb or west indies later. Go build up your body, your pace. Revive your sharp late inswing and revive your seam up delivery which goes across rather than relying on semi cut offcutter with wobbly seam which the batsman picks easily and can let it go. Go work on your technical glitches and comeback as a better, stronger Amir after taking plenty of wickets and after reviving you confidence.

After Australian Test tour Amir's Test Performances should be scrutinised ie Last 3 Test tours. This is a decent sample size irrespective of drop catches if he averages under 32 with a SR under under 58 pick him for next Test assignment if not than time to be rested for his betterment and pakistan betterment.

As a fan I would want him to take atleasr 5-6 wickets in next Test at an Average under 26 and a SR under 55 and get retained. Let us see if it happens or not.;/
