"Mohammad Amir is our main strike bowler and he needs rest; he is included in ODIs as those are important games for us in terms of World Cup qualification"

Good to see Inzi putting his faith in Amir - will do wonders for his self-esteem.

He is the main strike bowler by default. Wahab is too expensive and Hasan is untested in big matches. Good all-around bowler is Amir. Swings the new ball and has good variations in pace/length.

For sure. One thing is that anyone in the Pak cricket establishment feels that he is a key member.

hopefully he is being diplomatic. amir is an abject disappointment, has been totally rubbish and hardly makes any squad on performance certainly.

Very smart move by Inzi.

The people who wanted Amir to get dropped have got their wish

The people who said that Amir is a key bowler for us can say that he has been rested

Meanwhile, we can test out some of the otter pace bowlers we have at our disposal and see what they can do

Good decision, and he should've rested Wahab as well for T20Is.

wahab's formats are T20 and tests only... his wrong format is ODIs where he has to bowl ten overs with 2 new balls and with field restrictions... In T20Is he will get away with 4 overs or less than that...

In a 3-match LOI series (both T20s and ODIs), Wahab should play 1/3 games and be told to go all-out. In a 3-match Test series, he should play 2/3 Tests.

In a 5-match LOI series, he should play 2/5 games and be told to go all-out.

He's that kind of a bowler.

Yes, main strike bowler who can't strike.

yes cant strike the stumps . but can make batsmen edge it to keeper and slips...hafeez bhai will drop them because he has practiced to catch them with gloves only and not bare hands, not his fault though because he is blessed in all three facets of the game...

Amir hasn't been penetrative in spite of the dropped catches. As far as Hafeez is concerned, he is a poor catcher; nothing to do with the gloves that he wears during practice. Clarke used to wear them regularly as well but he was one of the best catchers of all time. Jayawardene used to have plenty of protection on his fingers but he was still brilliant in the slips.

As far as T20s are concerned, Roman Reigns, Hassan, Bodybuilder, and Wahab have outperformed him.

Deserved to be dropped from T20s.

Bodybuilder outperformed him where? In psl? I thought he changed his style from fast bowling to chinaman. Was hopeless.

Agree with Inzy here. Let Amir be refreshed and get the team to actually catch his wickets. 12 catches dropped off of Amir last year in tests alone. Pathetic.

Honestly feel like he's being overbowled but I want him back to his best as soon as possible. He's a gem of a bowler.

Amir has not been our strike bowler. All this hype needs to stop. Barring the odd spell he has not done anything special.
Sohail Khan has out bowled him in games he has played in.
I would have Sohail Khan over Amir anytime. Inzy has been a disappointment. The story of favouritism selection conintues.
Don't know why Amir gets all this hype despite not doing anything to talk about since hus return. Sohail Khan and Hasan Ali over Amir anytime.

Inzi and other selectors should make a rule not to select Amir in any format ever. This will right the Pakistan cricket ship.

Right to rest him from T20Is but if he doesn't perform then that excuse of fatigue is gone.

Bodybuilder was the highest wicket taker in the psl. If he was selected for the ODI leg during the AUS tour, he probably would've outperformed him there as well.

But bodybuilder has been dropped on the basis of fitness, so I won't question his exclusion.

Too many Amir haters on this forum. I guess they were happy with the output the likes of Rahat, Imran, Wahab and Sohail were giving them.

People tend to overhype the importance of Sohail. The guy averages over a 100 in the second innings of test matches. He barely has enough fitness to have any impact in his second spell in ODIs and is smashed to all parts. If there is one format he should play it is T20s.

Rahat and Imran I don't even want to discuss. They are beyond pathetic.

Wahab, is another one who has a whole lot of hype around him but with zero performance. When was the last time Wahab actually won us a match or even took a fifer in an ODI?

Amir is still our best bowler in LOI closely followed by Hasan. Shah is our best bowler in Tests closely followed by Amir.

Tamam haters ko mera salaam :salute

I was almost certain that he'll be rested in T20, in my probable team, couple of weeks back I actually kept Amir out. His performance isn't matching the expectation, but still he is by far the better option for new ball - it can be PAK's misfortune, but harsh reality.

lower your expectations then.. he is a strike bowler blame the people who drops catches and the bowlers on other end who leaks runs. About him being the strike bowler or not we will know with 3 t20s coming up soon.

excuses. Not much catches dropped off him lately. Even when catches were dropped it were all first couple of overs when ball was new. Other bowlers had catches dropped in matches yet outperformed him. Except for that one Aussie Odi and one Psl match he has been outperformed every single match by another bowler in same match

Good decision. Amir relies on lateral movement to get his wickets, something he won't see much of in the West Indies so resting him from four T20 matches is a good decision. Him and Junaid need to be kept fresh for England where they can cause some real damage to any batting lineup.

nothing special made virat kohli pat his back and gave him a signed bat. Nothing special was praised by Ian Bishop as the best in the world you can get. Nothing special is considered one of the finest new ball bowler in the world by many experts.
As said before lower your expectation even kohli or sachin never scored 100s in every single match they have played

Yes hafeez is a poor catcher then why the mgmt is hell bent on keeping him in the slips. With his poor catching he has cost them a lot and even matches in the end. May be Hafeez thinks he is Clarke or jayawardene lol.

A typical Pakistani reply for dropping a senior player because of lack of form in the format. REST

Except that Amir is our best bowler and has truly been rested. Makes no sense for any of our main pacers to be playing four random T20s with no WT20 in sight.

Good analysis. I think same

Probably the one good decision from Inzi in all the time hes been a selector.

Amir is our most economic pace bowler but isnt the most threatening unless he gets a green wicket.
