Mohammad Amir raking in the cash - vindicated in his retirement?

It seems the world over, national cricket has taken a back seat and commercial cricket is more appealing.
It is time for the cricket boards to think how to tackle this problem

Much of what Amir's value is has to do with memories.

Indians have a lot of time for Amir because he has performed well against them. English too because of what he has done in England, though not so much against the English. But other countries may think what the big deal is. Afterall his stats, apart from T20s, are OK, not world beating.

Similarly, Pakistanis respect Sehwag a lot because of his performances against them. Does not mean other countries will rate him this highly.

On the opposite scale, Indians may not care about Akram as much as Aussies do, or Pakistanis may not about Tendulkar as much as many other countries do.

People remember the fear they get from an opposition player for a long time.

So Amir has a great chance to be part of IPL if he qualifies. I am just not sure he will be a success.

Yes, he could have played for Pakistan also. However, people like Amir who have exceptional talent often feel (rightly or wrongly) that they are not being given due respect, which I assume is the reason for his animosity towards the current management team.

His talent has faded away unfortunately, he is a shadow of his former self though he is still a decent bowler.

Maybe time will tell what becomes of his retirement.

Quite true. In the last decade, I would say that Amir has been the most feared Pakistani player for Indians. Pakistan has other great players like Babar but they haven'r performed against India the way Amir has.
