Mohammad Amir believed he was mistreated by Misbah and he felt he was harshly dropped from the squad versus NZ. He retired from International cricket due to his grudge with the current management.

However, Misbah has broken his silence today and has responded to Amir. He believes that Amir's performances were not good enough, he was not bowling fast enough, and he lacked intensity in his bowling.

Misbah rubbishes Amir's claims that there is a grudge against him and his exclusion is based on performances strictly.

Based on both viewpints, who do you think will be victorious in this conflict? Will Amir continue to be excluded or will Misbah be removed, leading to Amir's return?

Neither. Aamir would never be the main strike bowler for Pakistan, its Shaheen. Misbah will get the sack eventually too.

Both have character flaws.

Misbah thinks he is some benevolent angelic king, and has made a lot of blunders backing the wrong players as captain and selecting the wrong horse for the course as selector. Abdullah Shafique he selected for a t20 A tour when he a is test batsman... what is that going to do? Establish in that kids mind he’s not a fast scorer? Will that help his confidence?

A dull guy who makes decisions half asleep.

Amir cries too much. Like a spoiled kid. “Waqar Bhai told me bad things :sree” “Misbah did this to me :sree
“Where are my wickets :sree

He needs to be grateful to have the chance to play, instead he is being ungrateful and running away. Have realized Aussie cricket culture is much more harsh on their players and they need to grow a thick skin and deal with it or go home and drink VB with vegemite on crackers.

I don’t think it’s a conflict. Misbah’s been clear saying the door is open and he holds nothing against Amir in his heart even now (despite Amir’s comments about him and Waqar). Also, Misbah isn’t even selector anymore so if Amir performs and is picked, Misbah is ready to welcome him should he remain coach. What’s the issue?

Amir is not being selected on merit. His numbers in the NT20 Cup were awful. Amir's conflict is with himself.

Pakistan's cricket will be better served by moving on from both of them.

It's no surprise that the fixer has eventually come into conflict with the person who rescued Pakistan after the entire episode.

I hope Misbah wins this round.

Amir will be victorious.

He is a smart cheat.

Misbah is doing a thankless job. Pakistan team won't be able to meet the expectations of fans and Misbah will get the blame which will eventually lead to his sacking.

The day PCB will announce the new coach, Amir will make a tweet congratulating the new coach.

Amir will perform in PSL or National T20 at some point and then fans will start demanding for his selection and ask him to take back his retirement. He will then take back his retirement. Pakistan team will have a bad series and then Amir will be called back. That's how Amir will win.

Amir is a not the legend people thought, but he is an excellent international bowler, whose averages in his final 3 Test series were:

23.58
21.28
14.40

At the 2019 World Cup in his last major international tournament his record was:

17 wickets in 8 matches,
Average 21.05
Economy rate 4.90
Strike Rate 25.7

One of these is an authentic international bowler. The other is an incompetent buffoon of a coach and selector.

Or just be managed properly and performs in an ICC tournament like he usually does. :amir3

I mean its not rocket science. On his day he is a world class bowler and is a tournament player like Miroslav Klose.

So what if the kid doesn't want to play tests, big deal. Just keep him in prime condition for ODI and T20 tournaments that is all.

Misbah appointment was too soon and we are now paying the price for his mismanagement. Fakhar, Amir and Hasan Ali should have been kept on ice like fine champagne and sipped on tournament day. Bad bad man management.

Honestly we need to bring in a foreign coach to introduce some neutrality in the dressing room and someone that knows how to manage athletes to keep them in top condition. Pakistani coaches are very basic in their approach it seems, very much use and throw away. How did Imran get the best out of his sorry bunch in the WC or Mickey in the Champions trophy? The examples of good leadership in professional sport are endless and Misbah is 100% not the right fit for the role.

Pakistan cricket loses either way.

In theory, Amir is biding his time and waiting for Misbah to be removed as head coach, come back into the team and perform under a new coach.

However the reality could be somewhat different.

This presumes he can perform at will. Can he?

Amir will be back eventually. But he needs to know he is not indispensable. Setting a poor example for new guys. Afridi did that as well back in the day.

Amir is probably an annoying and arrogant guy. If he considers playing for Pakistan his right, then he is to be blamed.

he is in his 30s barely the time to bide his time

Whoever has better friends in the media will win.

Amir will keep coming back. Pakistani fans and management has invested too much in him and at this point it's just sunk cost fallacy

Not sure, the PCB hasn't really gone out of their way for Amir recently. No one in the PCB bent over to try and convince Amir to overturn his test retirement and now his overall retirement. In 2015 the PCB felt Amir was a world class talent, it is 2020 now and Amir's overall stats, performances are in front of everyone, the PCB found it very easy to drop him in 2018 and at one point in time were also not considering him in the 2019 WC squad. Amir's overall output, performances to be honest is not going to attract much pampering from the PCB. He is no Shoaib Akhtar who on many occasions showed and proved he could change the complexion of the match in a quick 2-3 over burst

If he hasn't won the war yet, Misbah certainly on top. Amir blinked first and then ran away crying to the media.

It makes sense to keep him for odi and t20 anyway that's where he is most effective, never understood why Misbah made a big deal out of this anyway

Let’s say Misbah is out and Amir in, by the end-2021, Pak fans will remember Misbah with fondness and will be praying for the exit of Amir - a tier-3 bowler in SLPL league in 2020.

If history is taken into account it already provides us the answer. The player always wins in the end over the coach/selector etc. Shoaib Akhtar/Nasim Ashraf, Shahid Afridi/Waqar, Shoaib Akhtar/Waqar, Younis Khan/Waqar, Younis Khan/Shehryar, Waqar/Touqir Zia

Ah, again , we lost memories

I am not Amir fan, but Misbah and Waqar made the policy in 2019 that Amir will not be selected since he took retirement from Test cricket, then floated around this theory in media that he is looking to play for England. And they want to teach Amir a lesson

Where it actually went wrong was Wahab also took retirement from Test, but hey, he got selected with no performance at all.. and then only Amir started crying, and as you know how great Waqar is in man-management skills

Amir always plays the blame game, he isn't a 19 year old boy anymore. What did Kohli do after being dropped, he got a six pack and became the best cricketer of all time. Amir doesn't have the hunger in his belly, he needs to join the gym and get a six pack and do the ball do the talking. Anyway he is retired now, time to move on and focus on Shaheen Shah. What's gone is gone.

Misbah was spot on in his presser, that if you retire from test cricket and decide to focus on the limited overs format and are a senior experienced player, then you can't perform well in one game and then go missing in five matches

This is exactly what Amir and Wahab were doing. Better to focus on new players then
