Mohammad Hafeez : "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Looks like he forgot to mention that his spin bowling is also in the class with Murli Dharan in all three formats.

@Koenigsegg: I think the Professor realizes that Murli is in the chucking class of his own but he probably could out-google Warne any day of the week. :P

Yeah, and twice on Sundays.
But seriously yar, looks like these mental daft have been hit by contagious mouth diarrhea. First, it was Imran Frahat, then Imran Nazir, then Sami, then Muhammad Irfan and now Hafeez so whose the next Sherelock to issue a self praising verdict? Toffee Kumar leaving Sehwag in dust ??

Hey guys .. I just wanted to add that every morning when I visit PP, I look at the title of this thread to have a good laugh.. it brightens up my day and I have a good start knowing that there are bigger idiots in this world than me..

Thank you MO Hafeez.. here is obligatory laugh of the day..

HAHAHAHA.

One game/series does not set a point..

AND HE DIDN'T EVEN GET A 50!

which series have u been watching? he actually did get a 50, correct me if i'm wrong, he got somewhere around 68 on the first odi.

the final verdict is still out there on him, but hes been more or less consistant this whole series.

Well as long as I have watched Hafeez he has always looked good while he has been out there. Its just that he keeps looking good for the odd shot but his temperament is poor. Whereas before he was getting out for low 20s, now he is getting out for well made 40s. Still needs to bat through and make one good innings to prove he can last.

Definately jury is still out on him.

This is beginning to look very much like the Shoaib Malik story.

Shoaib Malik at first, was a useless batsman and useless bowler. Then came that defining performance of his career. I will never forget the 143 runs Malik scored in 2004 against India, because this was the day he went from being a pinch hitter, to Pakistan's most exciting young talent. He became a crucial all-rounder for the team. During Inzi's era, we were heavily reliant on Malik bowling his 10 over quota and he was also a very crucial number 3 batsmen. 2004-2008 were the golden years of Malik, where he was absolutely essential to our one day success. In fact when Ganguly was captain, he was on record for saying that the player they most fear was not Inzi, Younus or Yousuf, it was in fact Malik. The last two years however have been an absolute tragedy for Malik who now looks unable to hold a bat, like when he first played international cricket. Plus after his dosra was outlawed, his bowling became cannon fodder.

Hafeez seems to be following in Malik's footsteps by becoming that crucial all-rounder who we rely on as a batsman and as a bowler. We are still waiting for that one defining innings which Malik had early in his career. Hafeez looks absolutely solid when batting, but has thrown it away every time. However, he is getting consistently better and I hope for the sake of Pakistan that he lives up to his potential.

So Usman bro, when is second volume of Mafia gang coming out with Hafeez as the leading culprit? :malik

So Usman bro, when is second volume of Mafia gang coming out with Hafeez as the leading culprit? :malik

Well I think the second mafia will include Asad Shafiq, Azhar Ali, Umer Amin and Zulquarnain Haider who led by Hafeez will take an oath against Fawad! :))

In all seriousness, if Hafeez does not build on this platform to become a permanent member of the team, then I hope he doesn't get involved in this stuff. Sometimes I think it's inevitable that these guys will end up at each others throats, because such is the history of Pakistani cricket. In Pakistani cricketing history, few men have managed to prevent infighting. Imran prevented it by being a great leader, and even then he faced some opposition from Miandad. After Imran, we had perhaps the most talented Pakistani team ever, but we're able to acheieve anything because of our infighting. Finally after the world cup 2003, Inzi became the second man after only Imran to unite the team. Inzi was not a great tactician, but every player in the Pakistani dressing room knew that he was by far and away the single best cricketer around at the time in Pakistan. So they united under him. Once Inzi left the scene, again we had a state of power struggles with every mediocre player in the team thinking that the captaincy had been stolen from them. They all felt that their captain, whether Younus or Malik, was not deserving of the role and that they should be captain. So factions developed. Isn't it strange how when Malik was captain, he was so unpopular that he wasn't allowed to stay in the same hotel as the rest of the team and hence stayed at the national academy, and yet once he was no longer captain, he became leader of the mafia? The reason was because once Malik was no longer captain, he wasn't the threat anymore, so the mafia begun its new hate campaign against Younus, the new captain.

The problem now however is that with Misbah the test team captain, the PCB have planted a bomb ready to explode. Misbah has shown us since the 2007 t20 WC that he is well past his best. He is simply incapable of performing consistently in the test team. When we begin to loose matches again and morale takes a hit, these factions will reappear, and these players will be trying their best to undermine Misbah. It's what happened to Wasim, it happened to Waqar, it happened to Malik, it happened to Younus and now it's Misbah's turn. Truth is that unless and until we get a captain who leads by performance, these problems will remain. It's exactly what did for Younus, because his personal form was lagging, which gave the mafia an opportunity to attack. I firmly belive Younus should be reinstated as captain, since he is the only one capable of truely leading by performance.

Gotta appreciate his performances so far. He is having a decent series, both with the ball and the bat. His fielding has always been good. He is contributing a lot to the team in this series.
I really hope he shows consistency..and cements his place in the team, at least till the WC.

He has always been good on Asian pitches. Its in more challenging conditions that he has failed, or played too slow. These pitches suited his style of batting. The negative thing was that he didn't convert his fifties into hundreds...Pakistan lost the series because our players didn't convert their good starts.

Good stuff bhai. I remember Hafeez's Test performances in 2005--a 95 in England and another big score at home v Windies, very composed and orthodox batsman. However he does have a habit of throwing away starts

36* at moment so needs to get a big hundred!

Correct me if I am wrong the best part about this guy , to me he seems down to earth guy ... no flashing ... whatever he has or whatever he delievers ... he just do that ... he don't try to become Show Biz stuff .... ? I haven't heard any wrong about him so far ....

exactly and that's why he's a potential future captain for us.

Good Player He Has Got The Shots Just Needs To Keep His Cool Andd Play A Big Innings To Proove These Haters Wrong.
Cmon Hafeez Score Big Proove Yu Got Potential.
I Know Yu Got It Just Proove It!

Hes got a lot to prove Played well n den as usual gave it away

The difference between an avge player (what he is at the moment) and a top player is the ability to go on and score big when set

Once again threw it away when he shudve got a 100

an average player doesn't get consistent 50s. you mean the difference between a good player(what he is now) and a great player.

give him some respect at least, he's not fulfilling his potential but he's showing he's a 100% improved player since he began his career.

N ur giving him too respect He may be getting the odd 60 n 40 but those mixed wid the odd low score produces a poor avge, until he gets the odd 100 he aint good

he is not great this stage but he is definetly good. 100s are only a matter of time now. The important thing is that he has sort himself out mentally and looks an assured and composed player. Runs will soon follow

The biggest improvment we saw lately.
After he had a poor T20 world cup i remeber every PPer bashing Shahid Afridi for wanting him back in the team. I give a lot of credit to Afridi for Hafeez's current form as he really likes him, give him confidence...

Unfortunately he is not making the hundreds, but still batting well.
And i don't know why he was underbowled by misbah, hasn't he seen how Hafeez troubled South African Batsmen in the ODI's, especially Smith...

Credit to Afridi and the selectors too, for persisting with him through his early rough period and all the times he hasn't performed and given him confidence - it has paid off!

bump
I went through the thread and found people making fun of him.And now we have a thread calling him best alrounder we have at the moment. Well done hafeez.U made people eat their words.

He actually is blessed. He had the talent to be a 40+ batting, 30 bowling averages in both tests and odis. It's just his concentration that lets him down.

I would actually like to see the guy as Captain at some point in the future. It just makes sense really ... well ... to me it does atleast. I guess I've just rubbished my own statement there but who cares! Prof for President!!!!

Always knew he'd perform before he was called back ... always looked good in his previous call ups but was unlucky lot of times.

:))) :))) :)))

me and my buddy were just discussing this very interview of Hafeez from a year ago on FB! how things have changed, for the better!!!

:hafeez is on fire!

Now I look dumb as hell now. :afridi

...But he's still a good LOI player.

I know you are a big fan of him and I agree with you, he is a good LOIs player. But I hope he bats down the order.

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Hafeez should drop himself to save himself the pain of the third test. ...

Well folks, I just don't know what to say!

Doesn't this epitomize the attitude of Pakistan ayers these days?
Always settle for mediocrity and never think you coulddo better...

Poor Azhar Ali. He is the only one of the lot who recently saidhe could have done better. Everyone else thinks of themselves in the caliber of Lara, Sobers or BRadman...

Ridiculous!!!

Hafeez should lay over the hallucigenic drugs!

Hes a jack of all trades, master of None!

bloody unbelievable, this guy is from cuckoo land. I'm sure he reads this forum, what a disgrace..

Typical pakistani archar, i'll have malik in the team any day. I'm sure malik will make much more runs.

I'm certain that even the Don was humbler in his days than this goat!

I don't know why people are laughing. He never specifies what game he is talking about. He is talking about Ludo in my opinion.

Some of the post are :)))

It a true refection of Hafeez ability

A complete Hack and a Joker

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

That is why I bumped this thread. Some of the posts are just hilarious.

I really couldn't help myself laughing out loud.

Hilarious. .

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Can an I.Q, drug and alcohol test be done before next player is interviews..

some of their views are laughable to say the least!

A special. ...

so frustrating because as a batsman he looks so elegant with his shots. Really not sure why he keeps failing time and again. Lets hope in the ODI series he does better and not like last time in odi series in 2007. Was a walking wicket to Pollock.

Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

I'm extremely disappointed with Hafeez! Had high expectations of him especially after the fom he showed against India and also in the warm up match leading upto the first test. He's an important player too because he generally scored at a decent rate.... From now on I think he needs to bat at number 5 with another opener to accompany Jamshed

dude he still good ODI player, I back him to lead us in WC2015

He is just not good enough in test , he is specialist in LOIs, and should stick to that format.

He is very valuable to us in LOIs

shorter format yes but test no.

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Very good lol ? You are just average FTB only reason you stand out because we dont have any good batsmen in our team useless captain who brings absoloutley nothing and then praises himself God he thinks too much

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Haysman saying hafeez is so important to Pakistan that it sends shivers down the rest of the batting line when he's out. ...

Think he has been reading the OP in this thread.

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

On the plus side ...

Hafeez doesn't have to think today whilst batting so could do well.

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Hafeez's career record vs non minnows.

Re: Mohammad Hafeez "I am blessed to be very good in all three facets of the game"

Truly blessed.

lol pathetic batsman, can be looked as a bowling allrounder, he only bashes minnow. Minnow basher with the bat but a good spinner. Pakistan needs reliable batsman not :hafeez

Have to say he is not an allrounder he is a bowler who can play spinners and some trundlers who doesn't swing...........seam or swing with pace or no pace and he is done..................:hafeez :facepalm............what a pull he attempted

Mediocre player and will always remain so. If we wanna see Pakistani team make any progress in future then he should be the first one to be kicked out of the team.

He should bat at 7.

one of many bits and pieces muppets which r clearly undrmining the batting line up

He's been great over the last few years!

Only his bowling has been good.

Look at his stats in the last 3 years and apart from his knocks against India and windies he has been rubbish as a batsman.

He is just Lucky because of his bowling and the lack of chances given to youngsters.

At best he is a no.7 batsman.

I agree he's not good enough as a long term option for Pakistan in the top 6. The problem is, there are at least two players who have performed worse than him with the bat and are still in the team. First they need to be kicked out and then Hafeez should be moved to no 7. Let's not underestimate his bowling, he is without doubt the most consistent bowler in world cricket and always brings a control to the innings when he bowls. There is a reason why he is ranked no 4 in the ODI bowling rankings.

Hafiz not playing his game with true intention

hafiz is playing politics ...during practice matches his performance is outstanding while playing international matches.... look at his stats under misbah captaincy :misbah_old
