I refuse to believe this man is merely the worst Pakistani test opener ever. He is dead set on making history as the worst test opener of all time. My question is, has he made it?

Has there ever been a more incompetent, deluded, and technically deficient test opener as this man?

There is the joker and the batman, night and day , yin and yang, then there is Jeffrey Boycott or whoever and Mo Hafeez.

The other puzzling question is, How. In. The. Word. Does. He. Get. Selected?

We have had a slew of selectors in recent years, they all select him. Why? Are there some unforseen forces acting for his selection, or do all these selectors get fooled time and again.

Sick of this nonsense.

He won't retire and Inzi won't drop him until we lose in SA.

Have some more patience. SA series will be the end of him and some others.

Pathetic individual doesn't even bowl yet lobbies for selection as an "all rounder".

Team management panicked after Asia Cup when people were clamouring for Hafeez's recall when they should've stuck to their guns and stuck with youth policy.

I have been patient for 5 years, every year I have the same hope. SA 2013, okay this will be the last. England 2016, surely this will be the last, but no.

But no he is back as always.

THE worst test opener of all time. There is a congressional medal of dishonor just like there is a medal of honor, this man takes the former in cricketing terms hands down, no questions about it. A sick man.

Pathetic batsman. It's a shame that Fakhar got injured and we have to put up with his trash without him being dropped. If he had any shame, he would retire for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket but he is greedy and cannot retire due to his selfishness and inflated ego.

The selectors are at fault too because they are not replacing him with a younger player. I would rather a young player get out on a low score in the name of learning and improvement than a 40 year old failure.

What do you expect from a misbah friend and we have genius like mohsin Khan who wants a "senior" to captain our test team.

He had age on his side before plus this time coach isn't really a big fan of him. A miserable Test series will be the end of him for good.

our PM should take notice & intervene here because everyone has had enough of Hafeez! What an absolute disgracefuly selfish person he is , he is an intelligent guy no doubt about that.. which makes it even worse that he is knowingly hanging around.. & the worst part is “Inzi take notice “ he is not even in the top 10 run getters amongst the domestic openers in the last 3 years, even Salman Butt has much better numbers , feel sorry for the likes of Sami & Masood .. even Saad Ali warming the bench must be wondering how he’ll get a game

If he was taking notice then he wouldn't have selected him the first place. One century in FC and he was back in the squad again.

On merit even salman butt deserves it more than him.

Hafeez, the most undeservingly cricketer with a long career in history of cricket, or probably any sport.

I'm nervous, what if Hafeez scores 30 some runs in 2nd inning, that would be enough for Inzi to keep him.

Still he managed to open in 100 test innings for pakistan , guys has the 4th worst average amongst the openers who have score 3000 plus runs.

I get the feeling he’ll retire at the end of this test if he doesn’t score in the second innings.

Malik did the same thing when he figured out tests were too hard for him and I think Hafeez might do the same.

Salman Butt was actually a proven international class opener, he is out because he was fixing not because of his performance.

Hafeez will be the worst opener in history until his replacement steps in. Let's hope the new guys knees don't start trembling every time a fast bowler pitches it short like worst opener in history's current opening partner.

I don’t know what’s more surprising, that there are 3 other guys with averages worse than him or that he has scored 3000+ runs with feet planted, having a bit of a fish and playing catch with wicket keepers and slip fielders for years.

I think we should have a special filter for wicket keepers who keep to this guy against pacers. It is an easy way for them to pad their stats over a series.

Not necessarily. Atleast hafeez was an FTB in his prime. At one time, Pakistan used to play Khurram Mansoor as opener lol.

Even Khurram scored a punchy 147 against Steyn, Philander and Morkel. Shan scored 70 against them too. Hafeez can only dream of doing that be it in UAE, South Africa or his own backyard in Sargodha.

Put up a half decent pacer against him, bowl a bit outside off, and 9/10 he will give you his wicket. He is beyond therapy and coaching at this point.

Hafeez must have some sort of hold on Inzi or others in PCB to keep getting selected despite his continual pathetic performances.

Am sure mickey can speakly highly enough of hafeezs majestic performances with the bat.

Not only Hafeez but imam is also pathentic.

What are the selectors doing? Can't you find 2 best openers in Pakistan?

What Hafeez and management gained by playing Hafeez as an 'All Rounder' in the test side. Guy bowled less than Haris Sohail. Saad Ali or any other youngster should've played since Fakhar is injured.

Hafeez might be right up there as one of the worst, but he is neck and neck with his own partner, Imam.

The man averages 38-39 in test cricket and is an all-rounder. These knee-jerk reactions make me laugh.

Called it!

Agreed. In 100 test innings opening the batting, he averages 37.96 with 10 hundreds an 11 fifties, far from being "the worst test opener in history"

Hafeez might be right up there as one of the worst, but he is neck and neck with his own partner, Imam.

Haha, imagine comparing a newbie who has recently started his Test career (played 6 Tests) to a veteran of 54 Tests, who has always been a sitting duck against any movement.

Ok but he's hardly the worst test opener ever. Maybe away from Asia there is an argument for that.

I feel a bit guilty now tbh after hearing the news. Let my emotions get the better of me Lala style, he bit a ball, I made a thread.

If it's worth anything, if he performs now in white ball cricket as that will be his focus, I wish him well. Still open to him giving it a go at #5-6 in ODIs and rolling his arm (legally).

Salman Butt was actually a proven international class opener, he is out because he was fixing not because of his performance.

I don't agree.

Butt has terrible figures. I'd take Hafeez over him.

Sick of this nonsense.

Finally, someone else agrees with me :)

I’ve more or less stopped following Pakistan cricket because could not digest the fact that such a mediocre and incompetent batsman (from every angle) has played at international level for over a decade, is more irreplaceable in the team than even Javed Miandad ever was ! Either cricket has reached an all time low or I’ve become insane and just can’t appreciate the megastars of the modern game.
